In bed but so much to do.

I’m laid in bed at 11.20 am with the headache from hell.
I’ve been around sniffing everything and I can smell so fairly sure it’s not COVID!!

However all I can think about are the jobs that won’t get done if I’m laid up.
Our bathroom needs cleaning, the gardening from yesterday is not quite done, I was going to do a fruit and veg shop at the market and I’ve just quoted for my first work in 9 months.

I cannot be poorly.

I’ve just had 2 solpadeine which are my emergency “go to” so fingers crossed.

Is it just a woman thing to feel like this?
I swear when my husband is ill he only thinks of himself and getting well, everything else can wait.

None of those jobs will cause you any problems if you leave them until tomorrow.

And - almost all of those jobs don't require your expertise, you are not well, let you husband do them.

Take a day off and take care of yourself.!

Relax - your health matters more than anything.
The jobs will still be there when you feel better (alas, unless the “fairies” have done them for you)
The trouble is that a day in bed only happens when we feel too poorly to “enjoy” it.
As the Germans say “Gute Besserung” ??????

If you're (unusually?) in bed at 11.20 with the headache from hell, why is that?
Probably because you don't feel well enough to do all the things on your to do list.
So, stop tormenting yourself and leave it all until you feel better or - as someone upthread suggested - someone else does it for you! Definitely listen to your body now and relax into the pillows and benefit from the rest......and you'll get well quicker. The sooner you feel better, the sooner life can resume. Until then, think only of yourself and PLEASE don't push it !! flowers

Nobody’s legs will fall off (my mantra) if the jobs wait, even a couple of days, go with your body’s needs, doze and if the headache goes, still take it easy..?

Listen to your body and rest Missfoodlove nip whatever it is in the bud now to save being more ill later.
Rest, fluids, solpadeine, forget the jobs they will wait. We are all telling you the same thing so listen to the wise ones smile
Hope you feel better soon.

Stressing about jobs to do always makes things like headaches worse. Be kind to yourself - tomorrow is another day.

Dark mornings do not give us any encouragement to get out of bed so unless we have commitments it does no harm to snuggle down that bit longer. I don't need a headache to make me 'indulge'.

Thanks everyone, the drugs are working!
I’m still in bed and really don’t care about the jobs anymore.
I’ve had a great day reading, online shopping and doing a bit of research.
Thankfully I changed the bed yesterday and cleaned our room so the immediate surroundings are 5⭐️..
Having been raised a Catholic it is innate in me to feel guilty, I’m learning to stick two fingers up to it now!!
Tomorrow’s another day I will soon catch up?

My favourite saying when I can't keep to my (usually self-imposed) schedule is "the sky won't fall in if I don't do x,y,z."
Tomorrow is indeed another day ?

Housework can always wait!
As whoever it was (Quentin Crisp?) said, ‘After four years the dust doesn’t get any worse.’

But I do hope you’ll be feeling miles better soon.

The thing is, Missfoodlove, that in order to be able to do all those things you put in your post, you need to be well enough to do them. At the moment, you aren't feeling top notch, therefore, listen to your body, take the rest your body is demanding of you and then you will be able to tackle those jobs. If you ignore your body's plea, then indeed, you might not be fit enough to tackle the cleaning, the garden and the work you've just quoted for, so listen to your body, and the advice on here, and rest. A day or two won't matter but could make all difference to things getting done eventually or not. Take a leaf out of your husbands book! ?
Take care, and rest.

My late mother was fond of saying 'the dust will still be here when I'm not' and she was certainly right.

There are times when we just have to give in and do as our body says. Even more so the older we get....

My late mother was fond of saying 'the dust will still be here when I'm long gone' - too true.

I am a catholic and I do not know any catholic that has this guilt thing everyone talks about. I certainly haven't.

However, Missfoodlove, your headache could be migraine. They can be stress related, in which case you are doing the right thing. I understand you feeling better because your surroundings are ordered. I feel exactly the same.

Missfoodlove Thu 12-Nov-20 19:41:51

Not a migraine, I get them occasionally and have to lay still for many hours in a dark room, I also get numbness and a sense of smell a sniffer dog would be proud of!!
This was not as bad thankfully.
However the very good news is I woke early feeling great and have done an 8 mile walk with Mr Foodlove.

Iam64 Thu 12-Nov-20 20:00:08

Great news Missfoodlove. A day in bed is something I suspect we all need occasionally and before we get the headache x

Puzzler61 Thu 12-Nov-20 20:07:09

Good to hear you’ve recovered from the headache Missfoodlove and great you seized the day and had a long walk.

Jaxjacky Thu 12-Nov-20 20:51:34

Woop woop!

silverlining48 Thu 12-Nov-20 21:09:19

I have been known to still be in bed at 11.30 am on more than one occasion, but without the excuse of a headache.
Glad you are feeling better and had a good walk today. It’s been a nice day here and we also had a lovely walk. It really is the best medicine.

Missfoodlove Thu 12-Nov-20 21:26:51

It really is wonderful. Hardly saw a soul and picnicked in the sunshine.
Simple pleasures.
