Good morning from a dark, mostly mild E Kent.
Exciting day today! A visit to the supermarket. Yippee!!!
Yesterday, I did a WI zoom baking course and made a stollen and a mincemeat and almond tart crumble thingy. Delicious. You may realise that we love almonds. One problem. They are both huge ...
So glad to see your post yesterday, Marydoll. ISO sorry you have been feeling extra unwell. I hope today will be a happier one.
dragonfly, did the Musakhan turn out ok? I’m making a chicken tagine tomorrow evening on zoom, again.
May today bring relief to the sad, in pain, poorly and generally cheesed off GMers. X

Dwmxwg Tue 24-Nov-20 06:24:23

Good morning Mick and all to come.
I did get the Christmas cards out but have yet to make a a start, need to just do a few each day and then it doesn’t become a chore.
Another dark morning here in north Surrey. Waiting for my cup of tea to arrive.
Had a text yesterday asking if I could work today, money useful for Christmas so said yes, another late shift which I prefer.
Will have a walk with the dog this morning, and DH will go to Cliveden on his own as we had booked to go this afternoon.
Hope everyone has a good day

Beechnut Tue 24-Nov-20 06:25:25

Good Morning everyone from Severnside where we have a dry start to the day.
I hope that you are recovering well from your tumble NanKate. It made me go and sweep the wet leaves off the steps up to the compost bin instead of thinking ‘I must do that’ every time I went to the bin.

I’m starting to wonder what day it is once again when I wake. I settled down to watch the announcement at 7pm and went fast asleep.

Have a good day all and hope all ills and worries are getting better ?

Dwmxwg Tue 24-Nov-20 06:25:37

Wow GrandMattie they look amazing and delicious.

Scentia Tue 24-Nov-20 06:36:15

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is still dark and feels mild.
Grandmattie they look amazing. I am thinking I will join our WI once all this silly business has calmed down, now I am sure if I learn to make stuff like that!!
Work day today, we are still busy.
DSiL was told he may be furloughed but they are not sure yet, such a nice tease to keep his stress levels up☹️
I am still not sure if Chsmpneys will be open for my third attempt at a d at pa weekend on the 4th of December. I suppose we will know more after the teir lottery on Thursday.
Nankate. I hope you are not still sore after your fall.
Well I must get on as I have to go to the coop to get bread for lunches and it opens at 7 but takes me 30 mins to walk there, I do like to be the first in as I can still smell the bread in the bakery?
Take care Goodmorningers and stay safe.xx

Ashcombe Tue 24-Nov-20 06:37:37

Good morning to Mick, grandMattie (delicious looking baking!) and Dwmxwg. Plus all who follow on, especially Marydoll whom 'twas good to find posting here yesterday.

Yesterday was a fine day for walking so I headed out to Babbacombe Downs and was rewarded by the sight of no less than four cruise ships in the bay.

I started on cards yesterday, accompanied by one of the Christmas movies which are in abundance on C5. The plots are generally light enough to enable multitasking!!

I hope those with worries see an end to them soon. One more week of lockdown for those of us in England. It’s a dry and peaceful morning here in Torbay.

Sark Tue 24-Nov-20 06:47:23

Morning everyone.
Dark and dry in Oxfordshire.
Very strange dream last night..I dreamt everyone on this thread met at Mick's and all had to bring something..I woke up stressing about shortbread!grin
Hope you have a better day Marydoll and you're not too bruised
Nankate
Have a good day everyone and stay safesmileflowers

Good morning everyone from Essex by the sea where it is still dark.
I still haven't received my parcel that was meant to be delivered on Saturday. I've asked for it to go to a local shop, as the delivery drivers seem unable to read an address, but apparently it couldn't be delivered there either, yesterday, and has gone back to the depot. I despair as it cost a fair amount and is partly a present for DH. I am hoping it will arrive at the shop today ?.
Ironing and writing Christmas cards are on the agenda today. I'm trying to buy some bubble wrap but not having much luck. It's to wrap my cross stitch pictures in once DH has framed them for me. I'm preparing a Christmas parcel for each of my daughters/granddaughters as I'm not sure if I will be seeing them anytime soon.
Your cooking looks wonderful Grandmattie, well done. I'm glad we heard from Marydoll yesterday.
Enjoy your Tuesday everyone and stay safe xx

Beechnut Tue 24-Nov-20 06:58:11

Did we get away with it Sark or end up heavily fined ?

Nannytopsy Tue 24-Nov-20 07:05:12

Good Morning Mick and all his followers. Suffolk is dull but dry this morning. My greenhouse is being erected today. It’s the first one I have had so very exciting. There are few tender plants thinking “just in time”!
The cat has arrived to lie on top of me - I think he is cold.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Jaxjacky Tue 24-Nov-20 07:05:31

Good morning all, dark and dry in S Hants. I shifted my btm out yesterday for a walk, it’s so hard to get motivated at the moment, I’ll do the same today. We’ve never had a dog and don’t want one, but I can understand how they get you up and out. Enjoyed the football last night, even though it ended up a draw.
I too must start Christmas cards, I have a raft to go off to DH family, they’re the majority of the post. Hoping we’ll be back in tier one on Thursday, but not sure.
All these bakers and crafters on GN, all brilliant, but not my strengths at all, I do enjoy a bit of admin, horses for courses I suppose.
Have a gentle day all.

Bellasnana Tue 24-Nov-20 07:06:15

Good morning from Malta where it is another damp day. Not raining at present but expecting more showers on and off.

Yesterday as I lay here procrastinating about getting up I received a text from DD3 asking if I could pick her up from work as she was feeling poorly. Nothing like a daughter in distress for putting a bomb under me, I was up, dressed and off to get her in no time.

Highlight of today is my monthly visit to the nail salon. DGD in the US sends me a drawing with a design so I go along with whatever she chooses as it’s a nice way to keep a connection when we are so far apart. I believe I will be having a reindeer on one nail today!grin

Hoping my tennis buddy NanKate is not feeling too sore today. Please take care. My DD1 is still having problems after her fall last month. She had to have surgery on her smashed up hand but still can’t move it despite physiotherapy, so will need more surgery.

sark that’s so funny ?. Not sure Mick would be amused if we all landed on his doorstep though!?

Hoping you all have a good day, thoughts with those who are struggling, it’s not easy some days.☀️☀️☀️

Scentia Tue 24-Nov-20 07:08:03

Grandmattie. Thanks for the info I have signed up for a calligraphy course on the 1st December. I am so excited.

cornergran Tue 24-Nov-20 07:18:48

Morning Mick, morning All. It’s dark, chilly and looks dry in our corner of Somerset. Your baking looks amazing grandMatttie, will you manage to eat it all or would you like some help? Back to the neglected task list for us today, perhaps a walk if it stays dry. Take care everyone. Hope today has some brightness for us all.

dragonfly46 Tue 24-Nov-20 07:21:32

Good morning from dark Leicestershire.

Did lots of shredding yesterday which cleared a pile of papers.
Not sure what to do today although DH has printed the labels for my Christmas cards. I could do my Sainsbury delivery list. I have forgotten what it is like to wander round the shops.

I hope you are feeling better Nankate.
So sorry to hear about your DD’s hand Bellasnana.
The Musakhan was delicious thank you Grandmattie I have the recipe in a safe place now!
Hope Marydoll is feeling better and Gilly you are still in my thoughts.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 24-Nov-20 07:23:51

Good morning Mick and all

Ashcombe I was wrapping Christmas gifts in front of the C5 Christmas films yesterday!

We have the 10month old today, and pick up his breakfast from school, not sure if he is sleeping over yet.

We had a knock on the door yesterday am informing us that they were digging up the pavement outside our section of the road which meant we had to move one of our cars to a side road in case we need it in an emergency. As we live next door but one to the local primary school you can imagine the chaos!!

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

mumofmadboys Tue 24-Nov-20 07:29:11

Good morning from Cumbria! Has anyone heard from Gilly lately? Please come back Gilly.
I am struggling to get motivated at the moment.I seem to be in a broody sort of mood and I need to shake myself out of it..Have a good day all especially those not well or with worries.

Greyduster Tue 24-Nov-20 07:30:56

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Watch out Mick we’re on our way! Grandmattie’s bringing cake for breakfast too!??. A nice sunrise in South Yorkshire and I am awake early as I have an early appointment at the opticians this morning. The last of GS’s Christmas presents should be arriving today so that will be that out of the way. I hate online shopping. Whatever you have planned, stay safe and have a good day.

Greyduster Tue 24-Nov-20 07:32:31

That doesn’t sound like the momb we know! Hope you feel better soon!

Grandmabatty Tue 24-Nov-20 07:38:08

Good morning All. It's been raining in Polmont but its too dark to see if it still is. Another day of babysitting ahead. Dd got her living room and hall painted yesterday and it was looking good. I try to get at least one room done a year to keep it fresh. Yesterday was a stay in and play day as I wasn't feeling too great. Hopefully today we'll get outside. Fish for tea from the van who stops outside my house as I have the wee one to contend with. It's very kind of him and encourages me to buy fresh fish. Grandmattie your baking looks lovely. Ashcombe what a View! A walk there would be cheering indeed. Have a good day all.

brook2704 Tue 24-Nov-20 07:38:21

Good morning everyone from Inverness where another cold showery day is forecast, nothing new there
I’m looking forward to meeting my friend for coffee this afternoon at a local garden centre. We’ll probably be there most of the afternoon, chatting away and hopefully sat in the comfy seats!
Sark I love that dream of us all meeting round at micks, wouldn’t that be wonderful - well maybe not so much for you mick ?
Well done with all that delicious baking GrandMattie I’m another almond lover here too
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care whatever the day brings ?

Marydoll Tue 24-Nov-20 07:38:27

Good morning Mick and all from a dark and wet Glasgow.
Thank you all for all your kindness yesterday, it's your support which keeps me going. Please do not think that anyone on this kind thread is responsible for how low I was. It was culmination of things.

Kate I hope you are OK after your tumble. DH came back from the golf yesterday, covered in mud. This is the second week in a row, he has fallen in exactly the same muddy slope. ? Will he ever learn? He is so lucky he didn't break a bone and he is a big man!
dragonfly, so glad to hear your treatment is now complete.
Bella, your poor daughter, I hope the surgeons can help, you must feel helpless, not being able to go and see her.

Yesterday was self inject day (so distracted, I nearly forgot again !) and last night as predicted, I had the usual bizarre dreams, including the required gransnetters and a group of nuns, who turned into penguins! ?
Sar, you weren't in it, because you were at Micks! ?

I did feel some improvement yesterday, so I decided to make nan bread to accompany the curry we were having. DH said it was as good as any from a restaurant. Affirmation at last after 40+ years! grin.
For the rest of the day I did nothing, I felt quite guilty watching daytime TV. Is anyone else addicted to Australian Border Force? I can't get enough of it.
As for QVC, this enforced resting is costing me a fortune, I'm watching shows I wouldn't normally watch! I have no willpower, when it comes to gadgets. grin.

Poor DD phoned me really upset yesterday. She had bought a very expensive smart watch as a present for her husband to mark their first Christmas together. When she opened the box, the watch and charger had been stolen. What kind of people do that?

Another day of resting for me. Take care all and stay safe.

Lins1066 Tue 24-Nov-20 07:39:50

Good morning Mick and all. It is dull and dry here on the S Welsh coast. Lovely tarts grandMattie.
Our pup lost another tooth yesterday bless him, will take him for a walk later, so nice to have it dry.
We have had a skip outside my late inlaws, our daughter found a note pushed through the letter box, it said - " We have taken two tubs out of your skip, hope you don't mind. Our pots blew away in the wind. Thank you."
It made us smile, normally people put things into a skip don't they. The fish man cometh this morning and I have a Sainsburys online order to finish.
Hope Cherry is ok. Have a pleasant day everyone, stay safe.

Marydoll Tue 24-Nov-20 07:41:39

Grandmamattie, I meant to say, I think your stollen looks wonderful. Do you have a recipe to share?

Glad to hear you are feeling a little better Grandmabatty, there is nothing worse than having to look after wee ones, when you feel awful.
