What lovely neighbours you are. Important at any time but especially at the moment.

I wish more neighbours were like that! We have had a case of a neighbour calling the police when she thought (entirely wrongly) that someone was breaking the rules on lockdown. The police were lovely but it was so upsetting. Talk about the Stasi.

Some of the Electrical stores are happy to do a Socially distanced set up service for the Elderly or Disabled People.
There may be a small extra fee to pay, or they may do it for free just to get your Business. Likewise a local TV Ariel fitting company may offer a set up service along with any Ariel or Cable connection adjustments that are needed at the time.
Our local independent Electrical Shop in our Small town offers this Service on larger items they sell for free.

All kidding aside, it is wonderful to have good neighbours, and I hope someone is able to set up her new TV without issues.

My mother (having had the new tv set up) had a diagram card of her remote, sellotaped to it's back, with the main buttons marked/explained.

She only used on/off, menu, subtitles and volume. All it's smart capabilities were wasted. It didn't last long. She killed it by spray-polishing the back. It was unrepairable.

I agree Casdon it would certainly take me a long time to set up, especially with Sky.
boodymum when younger ( middle aged!) I used to have a lovely older neighbour too, very motherly and she gave good advice and was a comfort to have next door, our little family was nice for her too, to have around, as she loved children.

She will be amazed when she gets a new TV at how much they have come on in the last 15 years, at least there are some good deals on at the moment - although she may need some help setting it up, my son did mine in about 15 minutes, whereas I could have done it myself but it would have taken me at least twice as long.

Thank goodness for kind people. I have been on my own for many years and am always grateful to neighbours who have helped me.

How lovely to read of neighbours helping each other. We hear so much gloomy news at the moment, it’s good to be reminded that kindness still exists.

Good neighbours are worth their weight in gold boodymum and it sounds as if you and your lovely neighbour are very lucky to have one another.
