Our postie has been a life saver this year, collecting and delivering post and parcels . So he will get a better tip than normal as he made a huge difference to us. We always tip the bin men too as it’s a nasty smelly job !

This year we’ve had such a lot of help from total strangers in the village . Our village is planning a party when we get out of this eventually so we’ll contribute to that to say thanks ?

Our paper boy’s a bloke, but yes, plus the milkman, postman, bin men.

Greenmoss I love that!
I give the postie a voucher to spend on herself. If I gave money she’d spend it on her horse. She’s lovely (postie, not horse). Very chatty & helpful & knows where to hide parcels if Im out.
We have 3 sets of bin men. Garden, domestic & recycling so it’s too complicated to tip them all. At the last house we used to leave a crate of beer on top of the bin for them!

We have excellent, ever cheerful bin men. They get a large tin of sweets every Christmas. Indeed this year's is on the hall table ready for the morning. If they come early DH dashes out in his pjs
??

Yes, I tip everyone at Christmas (new or old) and they deserve double this year!

Only regulars I have are a two man pair of brilliant window cleaners. I'm always greeted with" Hello me darlin'" Non PC I know, but I love it.

I always give them a selection of my home made chutneys and pickles. Always very well received with a chorus of "Ta so much me darlin'".

Only a small gesture but it gives me much pleasure.

We always tip the postie and the binmen. I'm going to give to the Hermes girl this year, too. She's so cheerful! She brought me a big ball of rainbow-coloured yarn the other week, saying, 'I saw this in Aldi's and thought you'd like it'. So, I knitted her some mittens. ?

We tip our paper boy-he turns up in all weathers. We don’t know the post person-always different as are the bin men

We used to tip Lynne`s carers, but she only had 1, twice daily, so only 2 what you`d call regular ones, but now they come 5 times daily, 2 at a time, and several different ones, we`re not sure what to do.

Daisymae Tue 01-Dec-20 21:59:03

Yes tip both. Leave the bin mens tip in a card outside. Usually give it to the post person.

I dont have anyone to tip teally I don’t see the bin men, they come before 7am I very very rarely get any post and always see different postmen/ women walking down the street. There isn’t anyone else I don’t have papers.

I m not tight but there isn’t anyone to tip

Paperboy/girl. Window cleaner.

I would tip the bin men but never see them and I would also tip the postman/woman but never see him/her.

Yes, I do, at the same rate as fevertree. After my 70th birthday I shared cake with the bin men and postman and they were delighted.

The bin men always check if I’m at my window as I started waving and thanking them at the beginning of the first lockdown. There’s been an outbreak of Covid amongst the crews recently so collections have been haphazard but that isn’t their fault.

SueDonim Tue 01-Dec-20 20:57:47

Yes, we do. We have the same people all the time, some going back years. They do a good job and deserve a small thank you.

fevertree Tue 01-Dec-20 20:54:23

I should add they have twice had "bonus" tips (during both lockdowns).

fevertree Tue 01-Dec-20 20:53:26

We always do. The binmen (waste and recycling) number quite a few, we give £20 to each team - they say "Please give it to the driver, it goes in the kitty". They are always so grateful. I love my binmen.

My postie gets a tenner, I love him too. He is so cheerful and I know all about his new baby daughter.

NotAGran55 Tue 01-Dec-20 20:51:22

Yes we always tip the bin men, postman and the recycling men . They will get a fair bit more though this year .

tanith Tue 01-Dec-20 20:41:28

I normally do but I’m not sure what to do as our long term postman has moved to another round and we get a different one every day lately. I’ll give the binmen and window cleaners one.

crazyH Tue 01-Dec-20 20:11:43

Yes, I do

Jaxjacky Tue 01-Dec-20 20:05:38

I’ll be tipping postie and binmen extra this year for carrying on efficiently through lockdowns.

paddyanne Tue 01-Dec-20 19:55:05

since lockdown my milk has been paid online so the boy hasn't collected the money or had a tip.I've been collecting his tips in a jar and I'll count it out and replace it with notes at Christmas plus his usual extra tip he would normally get then. The postie and binmen get £20 in a card and the courier who delivers work and personal stuff gets half a dozen bottles of wine as she's always helpful.efficient and totally trustworthy and I hear horrible stories about other couriers.I'd like to keep this one .

Whitewavemark2 Tue 01-Dec-20 19:51:13

Paper lady, I usually buy a little gift.

Postman and bin men a Christmas box.

Window cleaner the same.

Smileless2012 Tue 01-Dec-20 19:33:20

Our bin men come too early and we never see the postman but I always give extra to the window cleaner for Christmas.

kircubbin2000 Tue 01-Dec-20 19:26:39

We used to give postman some cash
at this time but now we have a younger girl delivering. The bin men are new this year and seem a bigger crew so I haven't decided whether to give or how much.
