Carbohydrate that is.
If you could only eat one carb (you are allowed other food groups) which would it be?

Pasta, Potatoes, Rice or Bread?

I'd choose potatoes. I think I could live on potatoes and cheese.

It has to be bread! You can invent all sorts of dishes with it.

Nannylovesshopping Fri 01-Jan-21 10:02:34

Bread, bread and more bread, so many varieties, love em all?

Jane43 Fri 01-Jan-21 10:03:18

An easy choice for me, I’d choose bread, we rarely eat potatoes, pasta or rice because DH has Type 2 Diabetes.

Tangerine Fri 01-Jan-21 10:04:50

Pasta, I think. I've always liked it and use it a lot for many different dishes.

Potatoes here too.

They are so versatile and don’t need much in the way of additions to make them delicious... some butter and a swish of black pepper in a baked potato... lovely.
Or chips ... or potato wedges... or mashed potatoes...

When I was small, I suffered a lot of chest infections and if I was off my food, my lovely mother would often tempt me to eat with a small portion of mashed potatoes and gravy. I still love it.

Can I be cheeky minx and choose wheat.....giving me bread AND pasta ??

Lucca Fri 01-Jan-21 10:18:22

Bread. I’m addicted to toast. (Slight exaggeration but you get the idea)

Grandmabatty Fri 01-Jan-21 10:23:48

Definitely bread. Looking at a sourdough loaf right now

JessK Fri 01-Jan-21 10:26:33

Pasta because it is so versatile.

GagaJo Fri 01-Jan-21 10:26:57

Bread. I LOVE it. It is the enemy though. I can only lose weight if I cut it out.

J52 Fri 01-Jan-21 10:29:30

Potatoes for me, as well. So versatile, apart from potato dishes they can be used to thicken soup and even used in flour free recipes.

tanith Fri 01-Jan-21 11:35:58

I can’t choose ?

silverlining48 Fri 01-Jan-21 11:38:36

Potatoes for sure with bread next.

BlueBelle Fri 01-Jan-21 11:39:47

Potatoes especially crisps

Westcoaster Fri 01-Jan-21 11:51:55

Definitely potatoes, so versatile. Bread I like too, but can (and do most of the time) live without it.

kittylester Fri 01-Jan-21 12:29:41

Being gf I'd have to go for potatoes - roast, mashed, chips, fried, Jersey Royals dripping in butter........

timetogo2016 Fri 01-Jan-21 12:32:02

Potatoes,so versatile.

Riverwalk Fri 01-Jan-21 12:35:01

Bread, but like Gaga it is the enemy!

And like any normal person I love all Kitty's types of potatoes.

grannyactivist Fri 01-Jan-21 12:38:38

As both bread and potatoes induce me to use lashings of butter I should really do without both. Most of the pasta I eat has some form of cheese with it too, so I guess I need to give up the carbs altogether. grin

NotTooOld Fri 01-Jan-21 13:54:57

Bread!

Smileless2012 Fri 01-Jan-21 13:55:54

It would have to be pasta for me.

GrandmasueUK Fri 01-Jan-21 14:01:25

I was thinking bread but then kittylester mentioned Jersey Royals and I fell for them.

Grannynannywanny Fri 01-Jan-21 14:06:43

I’d hate to be without bread. It’s versatile and cheap. Some foods would be just incomplete without bread.

A lunch bowl of hearty soup needs a chunk of bread for company.

And boiled eggs would be a non event without their toasty soldiers.

SueDonim Fri 01-Jan-21 15:43:53

Rice for me. I’d probably quite happily live on home made rice pud!

I wouldn’t care if I never ate another potato.
