Good morning Mick and all who follow from a dry and cold north Wales where I’ve checked the forecast and we’re having a drop of that white stuff you’ve all had.....?☃️ Hope LauraNorder sends it along shortly!

A full Monty is on order for later this morning as much for something to do really - I’m so fed up with January already and it’s only the 8th....?.

Looks like Wales will be going into further lockdown for longer after today although I haven’t been out for over a week so will hardly notice! Mustn’t grumble (now that I have...) so many have it worse and I do hope everyone has something lovely happen today ?

Will pop along later and read about all your bizziness, go ahead, delight me.....?

grandMattie Fri 08-Jan-21 06:29:27

Good morning from a clear cold E Kent.
Pant, we haven’t had any snow, we’ve barely had a frost. Temps have hovered around 2C at night. Also, on the BoJo show the other day, we were promised 6 weeks in Tier 5. Heard that one before!
Bedding to wash today as usual, otherwise nada.
Marydoll, look after yourself today, you hear me? Stay safe everyone. X

Good morning Mick and all to follow from a snowy landscape here in Glasgow.

No possibility of a walk today as I fear it won’t be safe enough and too risky to chance another slip this week.

I watched a Rosamund Pilcher series last night which, although a bit cheesy, it was easy viewing as I got on with my knitting.

No plans for the day yet but I believe we may have a sunny day if the forecast has got it right this time

Have a pleasant day all.

Good morning, one and all from a distinctly chilly Torbay!

Pantglas2: I did a double take there, being only half awake when I read about the full Monty plan!!

A few minor mishaps yesterday which in retrospect are amusing! My coffee mug vibrated its way off the stand on the machine yesterday, spilling its contents over the worktop, down the unit below and creating a puddle on the floor! Grrh!
Later, my attempts to stow a bag of Christmas ornaments in a high cupboard, without bothering with the steps, resulted in a heavy festive duck making a bid for freedom and giving me a thwack on the forehead. “Thank you so much!” as Basil Fawlty would exclaim!

There are worse things happening in our crazy world and I hope none of them happen to the lovely folk on this thread.

Urmstongran Fri 08-Jan-21 06:39:21

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it’s dark, dry and seemingly milder. No frost anywhere anyway.

I had some wonderful news at teatime yesterday. All my blood tests came back as normal or acceptable. I was so happy I became a bit emotional after all my health anxiety. I still have some symptoms of earache and postural dizziness but not constant and not everyday so hopefully this rotten virus is on its way out finally, after two months.

It’s made me realise how much chronic pain must really drag the spirits of those of you who have to suffer with it as a way of life. I admire your fortitude in dealing with it. As the saying goes ‘old age ain’t for sissies’.

We have zilch plans for today. Himself is still snoozing. I’ve just made a second cuppa my own big self.

Shopping done yesterday will last us now till Monday. Twice a week in Sainsbury’s will be our new normal until these virus numbers come right down. I plan to ring and have a proper good chat with a different friend every afternoon, see how everyone is - I miss my friends, most of whom live fairly locally.

The train to Liverpool Lime Street has just pulled into the station. It’s well lit up on the platforms but no one alighted. Strange times.

Hope Friday is good to us all. I always miss the Friday Girl and think of gillybob. Probably always will. I hope you had a good night’s sleep Marydoll. Behave yourself and rest again today. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

grannysyb Fri 08-Jan-21 06:45:45

Having been awake since 3 an, I decided to get up at 6 and have my breakfast! Going back to bed when I've finished. Making third lot of marmalade today and will walk to the butcher this afternoon. Hope you all have a good day.

Beechnut Fri 08-Jan-21 07:03:09

Good Morning everyone from a damp Severnside. The fog lasted all day yesterday.

I’ve just put a gammon joint in the slow cooker and made a cuppa to bring back to bed.

I will write some letters this morning and go out to post and for some fresh air later. Probably have a lazy Friday afternoon.

I’m so glad you’re home Marydoll and along with everyone else stay safe and warm ?
That’s my delight Pant ?

Good morning from a perishing cold North Leicestershire again - it's getting boring now!

My trip to Sainsbury"s was uneventful. There were only a few people, all wearing masks but also quite a few empty shelves - I couldn't get our normal toilet paper.

Today I will be ironing!!!

Enjoy your days everyone. Marydoll, sit down and sending love to gilly..

Viridian Fri 08-Jan-21 07:09:53

Good morning from a wet but sadly not snowy south Cornwall. Meeting a friend for a walk this morning though it's tricky cos I need to sit down after 10 minutes and I don't think that's allowed! Will perch on a bench on the Pier briefly to rest the dodgy hips.

Knitted a snail yesterday while watching American Pickers, where two guys go looking in people's barns and sheds for crazy items to buy. As a fervent upcycler I love seeing what they find.

Hope you're doing ok Marydoll. Enjoy your fish and chips Mick. All the best to you all.

Viridian Fri 08-Jan-21 07:26:11

Here's the snail. Ha ha.

Beauregard Fri 08-Jan-21 07:27:11

Good morning from Derbyshire where it's still very cold with a possibility of a little snow later.

Good news Urms flowers

We booked a short holiday yesterday - four days at the end of the year. Who knows what will happen but it's pencilled in now and something to be optimistic about.

DH is putting shelves up in a cupboard in the spare room. It's set up as an office so it will be good to have more storage space and I'm looking forward to organising it when he's finished. I'm doing well here as there's only a very short window of time in which he will do indoor DIY jobs - about 5 or 6 weeks from early January until mid February - as he much prefers to be outdoors. So the temperatures only have to rise a little before he's out in the garden and on the vegetable plot or tinkering in the garage. I've started to sort out some pictures and mirrors that need putting up, while I've got the chance!!

Hope Marydoll has a good night and is feeling better flowers

Have a good day all.

NanKate Fri 08-Jan-21 07:27:58

Morning Mick and All

Cold dark and uninviting here in South Bucks.

Got the good news yesterday that my DS does not have the virus, what a relief - phew! So pleased you had good health news Urm.

Hope Mary is keeping warm and composing a novella to keep our spirits up.

I had almost a childish pleasure in watching the tennis from Florida yesterday, the sun was shining and the few people allowed in to watch where wearing bright t-shirts and of course masks. It made me realise that our Spring is moving ever closer and the warmer weather.

I shall send a consignment of luxury toilet paper up to you Kitty ?

Sar53 Fri 08-Jan-21 07:29:24

Good morning from a very frosty Essex by the sea. A cold day is forecast but we are not going anywhere apart from maybe a short walk later.
Take care everyone and stay safe xx

Beauregard Fri 08-Jan-21 07:32:07

I love the snail Viridian How long is American Pickers on for? It would have taken me days to make!

JanetG Fri 08-Jan-21 07:37:44

Hello, can I join in? I’m new to your site, and have just enjoyed reading your morning greetings.
It’s disappointing here in Nottinghamshire to wake up to see that the forecast snow has not arrived. I was looking forward to building a snowman and photographing the result for my grandchildren. However, maybe a drizzly walk round the garden will be just as good?! I plan on doing as much as possible over the next 10 days before returning to chemotherapy treatment. At least it gets me out!
Yesterday evening we were excited to see the return of Death in Paradise which always brings a smile to my face.
Have a good day everyone.

CanadianGran Fri 08-Jan-21 07:41:46

Cute snail! My DH is an American Pickers fan as well, so I will sometimes watch it with him. As they say, one man's junk is another's treasure!

Still night here, I am on the night shift but it is slow, so log in here to check. Horribly cold and damp, but I know DH will have the hot water bottle tucked in for me when I het home.

Stay well everyone.

Bellasnana Fri 08-Jan-21 07:44:13

Good morning from Malta where we are having an unusually warm few days.

I’ve an errand to run today which will involve using the car. It sits outside most of the time as I walk everywhere, but it needs a run. I might go for a walk in the countryside to blow the cobwebs away.

First I must drag myself out of bed and get on with my aerobics. I do them five days a week otherwise it’s too easy just to flop around on the couch all day.

Stay safe everyone.☀️

harrigran Fri 08-Jan-21 07:45:30

Good morning from a very wet NE.
Finished watching Virgin river yesterday while DH was resting all afternoon and the thriller Traces last night.
Need to find a book for DH, he is a lot more picky than I am and he gets through them so fast.
Thinking of Marydoll and all with problems.

grandMattie Fri 08-Jan-21 07:47:28

Good news, Urms, I hope it all settles down well now. ? Yes, chronic pain does turn the nicest people into real grumps, our Maydoll being the exception! ?

brook2704 Fri 08-Jan-21 07:48:54

Good morning everyone from a very snowy Inverness, it started snowing heavily again yesterday afternoon and it’s a winter wonderland out there. We live slightly uphill above the town so it was snow for us but just rain for DD2 who lives in the centre of Inverness.
My DH is exactly the same with the indoor jobs beauregard and can’t wait to get back outside in the garden as soon as the weather improves.. I’ve got him touching up paintwork throughout the house and tidying up the garage whilst I can!
What a lovely snail viridian haha I never thought I’d be saying that! ?
I do need to go out for a bit of food shopping today so will do that and then stay put for the rest of the day.
Hope everyone finds a little something to enjoy today and take care whatever the day brings ?

Georgesgran Fri 08-Jan-21 07:57:32

Good morning from Durham. We have snow - not a fan! DDs are both at work, so I’ll check they make it safely. SinL will take DD2 as wheelchair and snow is not a good mix. Not sure where Harrigran is, but hope our snow turns into ‘very wet’ later.
Absolutely no plans today but to get decorations into the loft and stay warm. Another week over - fed up with it now.
Hope everyone has the best day they can, especially those with troubles. X

Elizabeth1 Fri 08-Jan-21 07:59:20

Good morning everyone from a quiet, dark and frosty east coast of Fife. Welcome JanetG flowershope you enjoy this morning site it’s a good way to waken up hearing what the good folks of Gransnet have to say around the country and wider afield. I’ve had a really lovely sleep last night considering how fatigued I felt yesterday except for having to get up around 3.30 to look for my dh I surprised even myself he was enjoying a cup of tea coughing away. Have a good day everyone as best you can Wonder what’s for tea tonight? Fish and chips I hope, delivered from our local chippy.

Kim19 Fri 08-Jan-21 08:01:55

Morning all! It's such a warm and positive attitude that most of you have here. Love it. Thanks for sharing. Urm, so pleased about your good results too ? Any of you who hanker after snow feel free to come north and help yourself to mine. Free to all takers!

Scentia Fri 08-Jan-21 08:03:19

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is still dark and very frosty.
I love the snail Viridian. Welcome JanetG this is a lovely thread and you will enjoy reading the ever growing posts later.
I have been enjoying The Serpent on TV it is very good.
It is a very positive thread today and that is good.
I am at work today and DH is off, that’s more than annoying?
I am doing a bit of sewing on my new machine this weekend, I have a pattern and I have dismantled an old Joe browns dress for the material.
Take care everyone and stay safe, upright and warm.
