Which decade was your happiest?

Was it your 20’s when the children were tinies?
Or your 30’s when they started school and perhaps you could pick up your career?
Surely not their teenage years? (And the less said about the menopause the better.)
Or is it now ( Covid apart) - you’ve made it to perhaps your 60’s/70’s, fallen in love all over again with each baby grandchild as that little downy head nestles into your neck , but, health permitting you and your partner have the freedom to enjoy the interests which may have brought you together in the first place?

Each decade brings its pleasures and heartaches.

What was important in your teens and twenties is different to when you are in your 30’s and 40’s.

I’m well into my 60’s now. Glad I don’t have to go to work, which I loved thirty years ago. Glad I don’t have to home school young children. Glad we don’t have a mortgage. Glad that it’s just DH and me at hone now, although I love my AC and GC, wouldn’t want to have others living with us.

Just want to keep reasonably healthy and happy, all my loved ones.

‘home’ not ‘hone’.

I think my thirties, third child born at thirty five, moved into a house I loved and was happy in, back to work, great social life, older children happy and doing well, financially much better off, all good.
Forties were pretty good as well, but with a few more problems thrown in.

My late 30’s. Both DD’s at school. If I told you any more, I’d have to kill you!!

Oooh Georgesgran what did you get up to grin

Each decade brought its happiness, trials and sadness but Covid aside I have enjoyed my sixties and seventies with a new life style and not so many responsibilities now my grandchildren are grown up and children settled. Does that sound a little selfish ?

55-65 but I’m not going to explain on here. ?

Let’s just say it was a fulfilling time of my life.?

Sara1954 Sun 31-Jan-21 12:47:06

Gosh, you all sound like you’ve been having a lot more fun than me!

TrendyNannie6 Sun 31-Jan-21 12:57:05

That’s quite difficult to answer as different decades bring happiness and sadness, obviously when I had my children in seventies and eighties were great, probably 40’s and 50.s up to the present time,

timetogo2016 Sun 31-Jan-21 12:58:15

the 1970s for me.
The music/films and feeling safe.

Oooo. - sounds like a few of us have little secrets in our past!

EkwaNimitee Sun 31-Jan-21 13:16:23

My 50’s and 60’s. Mortgage paid off, kids grown, retired and in vigorous health, DH and I were free to go travelling, travelling, travelling!

My 50s without a doubt. ( 74 now)
We had sold our boat which had been our home. Went into property renovation which we both love.
In 4 years we got that all sorted and moved abroad leaving one flat here empty for us to stay in when we came back to uk.
After 5 years abroad I missed the grandchildren so much we moved back to uk.

When I was a teenager in the late ‘60s! Love everything about that era, music, clothes, hairstyle long with a fringe for both boys and girls! A feeling of freedom after the formality of the ‘50s!

Now!! Well, precovid!

We are both fairly healthy, we have a big, happy family who seem to like us, a lovely home (barring the hole in the ceiling and that will get sorted!) no financial worries.

What's not to like!
