Hi BlueBelle, ah yes, I remember your comments now. I used to love NA, I even used to record his shows in case I missed one, but he seems very angry recently. I'll give him another bash tonight.
It's not supposed to be cryptic, that wasn't my intention at all- the Post Script was to anyone and everyone on here, it seems so sad and in the doldrums at the moment.

Yes I think he is more angry or maybe just a bit disillusioned now and he does seem to attract some xxxxxoles ringing in
I like world radio when it gives me insight into what is going on with the world which we rarely get on the news programmes on radio or tv as they are only full of CoviD as if we need reminding

The TAAT rule is just to stop people from gossiping about posters and starting threads about deleted threads.

If this thread descends into arguing about past matters I will get it deleted. (And clear off.)

I love my local BBC radio here in Northampton, and have it on most of the day. It keeps me entertained, informed and often amused. Excellent music, news and chat.

But Saturday and Sunday mornings I always listen to the Radio 5 breakfast show.

Radio is the first love of this household! (TV rarely goes on in the day-time.) Radio 4 is our pleasure and joy. (Radio 6 for music.) Also DH & I don't watch any TV news at all - only radio news. I'm sure that this helps to keep us sane.....

my radio is great company as I live alone. Love radio 4 and also local radio. Can get on with any chores with the radio on. Always an expert of one sort or another for 'phone ins' and varied music.

I listened to Matt Frei (LBC) this morning who had a lovely interview with Jackie Weaver. She sounded very sensible with a nice sense of humour.
I cannot bear AQ but sometimes listen to AA before segueing into the afternoon play. I recently listened to a serial Passenger List was was quite engrossing. I enjoy the more concentrated involvement of radio drama. Also favourite listens are the omnibus Archers, Desert Island Discs, Life Scientific, anything with Tim
Harford - hardly ever the news apart from the odd headlines. Often listen to Book of the Week - enjoyed Obama before Christmas. Still regularly listen to LBC - James, Shelagh, Eddie and Matt. Love Simon Marks eloquence - recent quote about a Republican leader ‘ his mendacity matched only by his stupidity’

We’re radio ‘lovers’ in this household too, although seem to spend a lot of time arguing with either the presenters or those phoning in! Enjoy listening to local radio (particularly about 6pm at the weekend where older DJs play music from our younger days), LBC and radio 4 mostly. Being a keen gardener I like Gardeners’ Question Time and Radio Kent Sunday Gardening.

Radio 4 for me and Classic fm, also 4extra and have also started to listen to Times radio. I used to like sound of the sixties on 2, but they moved it to dawn!

Ah yes Classic FM - my go to station when I’m having a can’t bear the news day. So soothing and with some lovely presenters

I used to love Radio 4 and would pretty much have it on all day. I ducked out for a while last year as it seemed to get very repetitive and the afternoon plays always seemed to be quite dystopian/futuristic stories which I find quite oppressive. Maybe it was my mood at the time but R4 seemed to lose its lustre for me, even the comedy didn't hit the spot - the Count Arthur Strong thing drove me batty and I hated it.

I've tuned in a bit more recently, but I dunno, I can't seem to re engage.

So if anyone has any suggestions for good alternative talk radio, or even some R4 programmes that I should give a try to that'd be grand.

I can’t seem to find a radio station to stay loyal too any more, I don’t know why. Radio 4 was my go to up until about 10 years ago. I then stopped listening to it for some reason. Lost the plot (literally!) with the Archers, felt bereft when Eddie Mair left. My drive home from work was never the same afterwards. Then 6 years ago retirement kicked in and back & forth to Malaga probably severed any particular ties!

My most favourite radio programme of the week is still Lisa Tarbuck on Radio 2 from 6pm for two hours. Her music is hand picked, not from the recycled playlist of Radio 2 played on different programmes but just in a different order!

It’s like pulling up a stool in her cosy kitchen, for chat, with a glass of wine and laughing at amusing anecdotes.

As you can see, I’m a radio ‘tart’ ( if I’m allowed to say that) although mostly R4 and LBC. I can’t imagine being satisfied by one station.

I enjoy arts/culture programmes, such as A History of the World in 100 Objects, though I’m more likely to listen to podcasts these days. I love Neil Oliver’s Love Letter to the British Isles.

Podcasts are wonderful - quite a bit of my radio listening is actually via podcasts. I love their flexibility. Also if you listen to In Our Time podcast, the panel discussion continues where the broadcast programme left off and is usually great to listen to

And I think another reason I can’t settle to a station is (a) adverts (b) phone-ins (I like listening to experts not the general public (!) and (c) general irritation. Jeremy Vine for example gets right up my nose, Steve Wright ‘loving the show Steve’ as examples.

I’ve taken to asking Alexa to play me songs on request - from ‘shuffle songs by Nat King Cole’ to ‘Alexa, play Dance Monkey by Tones & I’.

I think there’s no hope for me.
Podcasts may be a way forward. Our daughter over in Yorkshire recommends them. I need to give them a go perhaps.

I listen to smooth radio and it’s nice to have on in the background. I love radio 2 on a Sunday Johnnie Walker and the paul ogrady who makes Me laugh. It’s my go to programmes on a Sunday and it relaxes me. Smooth radio on an evening especially when I’m in from work and having a relaxing bath. I too like Lisa tarbuck.

A great fan of LBC here, when I'm home it's on pretty much all day while I potter about or work in the kitchen.
My favourite presenters are Steve Allen early am, Shelagh and Eddie Mair in the pm and Nick Abbott with his quirky sense of humour. The only problem is I usually fall asleep after a half hour. I find Steve Allen hilarious as well, Shelagh and Eddie Mair more serious and informative with their discussions on news topics.

Lisa Tarbuck reads out any texts (or whatever) and as it’s a live show she’s often chuckling as she shares them. Kitchen tea towels and cookers were just mentioned now and then Lisa paused and said ‘how does one say ‘cooker knobs’ without sounding filthy?’
