Although they live in same town have only seen a few times through window in last year! Tried social distance walk but son/DIL wont meet up!

Me too. Haven't seen my GS for 6 months, other than on zoom. I am best if I keep myself distracted.

Same here, only seen one of ours for a few minutes on the garden path, not seen the others in the flesh for coming up to a year now. Just have to put up with it, and put no pressure what so ever on the parents, or encourage them to go against the guidelines, as that would be most unfair.

Yes it’s difficult. I tell myself that I’m lucky to be able to see them in normal times, lots of people are geographically separated from their families and rarely get to see them.

I try not to dwell on it and keep occupied but I’m really not sure what else we can do.

Feel the same baubles,it`s tough though.

Seen mine from the car after doorstep dropping grandson’s birthday present, three weeks ago. It’s very difficult for all.

Millions are in the same boat! Difficult times for all ages just like the film Groundhog Day.

I feel more cheerful today. Had the vaccine yesterday and the second dose by 30 April, so will be able to meet up for the May half term. Something to look forward to!

I know how you feel Elsine because I miss mine too. I am in a bubble with my family, but because they are NHS I don't see them. I would not want them feeling responsible if I were to become ill with Covid19. So for the foreseeable future that's how it is. The main thing is for us grandparents to stay safe and well. Hopefully by the summer we will be able to meet up with our loved ones again. It's been a long hard winter and not everyone has survived it. So far, I have, and for that I am thankful.

Chestnut do you think the rules will have been changed by half term?

Bibbity Sat 06-Feb-21 16:20:39

I’m missing my mum and Nan. I hate the kids not being able to see them.

We call them a lot on the phone but they’re only 6,4 & 1 and it’s just not holding their focus as much. And then when we come off the phone my 4 year old is upset because she misses my mum.

I know it’s going to end but this lockdown has been so rough. The dark and wet days have just seemed never ending.

My mum works in a hospital and my Nan is 90 so I have a worry that something bad may happen before the end of the pandemic.

It is sadly the reality we live in.

Hang in there, it wont last forever

Half term week is the first week of June so I would hope so. Anyway, as I'm vaccinated I should be able to meet daughter and two grandsons. It's hardly a Gypsy wedding!

* Chestnut* I hope you’re right, but we won’t be meeting ours until the all clear by the scientists, jabs or not.

We are all suffering, haven't seen my DD for 14 months, she cannot travel to the UK.
I have seen DS and GC three times in the last year from the end of their drive. We drove 45 minutes to take food to them when they were all quarantined as GD had covid.

Agree Jaxjacky! sad

Ours are a third of a mile away but that has little relevance. Ditto Jaxjacky.

Erica23 Sat 06-Feb-21 19:27:14

Us too.We Haven’t seen them now since Christmas Day. Making me so sad today ,their all at school so their parents think it’s best we don’t see them. Still little ones really 4, 5 and 6 Think them being up the road makes it harder, so near yet so far.
Just keep on keeping on, and be happy their all safe and well flowers

crazyH Sat 06-Feb-21 20:29:31

And seeing them in videos, makes it even harder....I just want to hug and cuddle them. But ofcourse, I must be glad that I can see them through FT. My poor Mum, how she must have broken her heart when we left for foreign lands, all those years ago!!!?

Yiayia4 Sat 06-Feb-21 21:25:18

Ours live near but only see them from the end of the drive.
It’s difficult for all of us but it will get better.
