You know you're bored when.......

Yesterday after sorting out the domestics, watching stuff I'd recorded, calling a friend, reading and saying after each activity, "Right, what am I going to do now?" I asked my DH to give me some long-division sums. He gave me really hard ones and I kept getting them wrong. However, after perservering I finally cracked them. This managed to while away a good chunk of time and I was quite pleased with myself afterwards. Funny thing is I hated maths at school and I have no idea where all this came from! What do you do in these times of extreme boredom?

I haven't resorted to maths yet! I always have a jigsaw puzzle on the go and recently bought a cross stich embroidery kit.
However, my usual occupation when bored is to search the kitchen for something to make for a snack!

If I am really bored I wander around the house looking for inspiration and usually end up just looking out my bedroom window to watch the world go by......the road outside is quite busy with passing cars and people go by, usually with their dogs, on the way to the nearby park.......I love people watching!

I have mentioned this before, (but would never acknowledge it to my family wink) I have become hooked on Chinese soap operas on You Tube, complete with bizarre subtitles. blush

Gransnet?

I do short on line courses but extend them by doing extra research. I go through my recipe books I have a lot of them. Basically I will do anything that doesn't involve too much housework.

Thank you Marydoll.. I love you grin

I turn to sudoku too Auntyflo when bored and dear husband asked me what level I was doing last night.
I cut and paste them from free websites. I can fit 6 on a sheet of A4. I always go for hard ones. He has never done and wanted me to show him. He almost got it.

Any way...

We got talking about devising a sudoku. That veered off to how many permutations there could be. It ended up with me working out the formula for how many ways 4 numbers could be rearranged. Got the formula in the end but I really enjoyed myself. I'm mad about numbers. Have been all my life grannyrebel7

Years ago, I did maths classes for our Year 6 primary school parents. I made them fun sessions. After one class, one dad was over the noon that he could now do long division. Never been able to understand it.

I'n really curious Oopsadaisy1 Making tins into whatever ( Altered Tins) - tell me more.

Yes, there is an element of boredom, though I try to snap out of it. I’m just desperate to get out in the garden, but rain then heavy snow prevented this. The temperatures are due to rise now in Kent, so ? I’ll be out there soon. OH bought me a jigsaw puzzle roll, so we’ll be attempting the Mevagissey one again! Apart from the joys of housework hmm, cooking/baking, dog walking, talking on the phone to sisters & friends, reading, the ‘Leslie Sansone walk a mile at home’ (as recommended by a gransnetter), reading, knitting, making a snuffle mat for our dog, watching/identifying the birds in the garden and woods I tried a BBC online home schooling maths exercise, which I enjoy. Still need to sort out cupboards, though!

You arrive early for your jab and your DH tests you on history while you wait in the car park.

List dinner ideas for the week ahead, update online food delivery list, flick through emails for stuff I don’t need then delete them, try and find a project for the next week. I have two targets for the coming week, find seed compost to start sowing and buy premium bonds for the GC’s.

Pore over Sarah Raven's gorgeous garden catalogue then go to her website and fill my basket to overflowing before chickening out at the last minute when the total cost comes up!

Start cleaning the grout in the shower then get my husband to give it a complete overhaul. He will be so pleased when I can get back to my voluntary role running a small library smile

You go out for a walk in pouring rain, just because you're off your head with boredom, - like I just did. I got very wet but feel exhilarated.

crazyH Sun 14-Feb-21 12:19:58

You go outside to remind yourself how warm three degrees is.

Greyduster Sun 14-Feb-21 12:50:40

I stare at my new laptop and think now is the time to get to grips with Windows 10. Then I remember I’m really not that bored!!
