I don't watch the ITV morning programme because I don't like the constant advertisements and I don't like Piers Morgan. However, I have seen the clips of what happened between him and Alex Beresford and I have read previous reports of his other obnoxious on-screen rants.
Morgan can certainly dish out all sorts of nastiness but he can't deal with some straight, non-offensive criticism of his boorish and inflammatory behaviour. Beresford's comments were in no way as outrageous or offensive as Morgan's often are. Good for him for speaking up I say. Morgan obviously thinks he's too important to have anybody contradict him.
It was still quite disturbing, though, to see that, although many people applauded Beresford's courage, a lot of people were delighted with Morgan's take on the Harry and Meghan interview. I believe it shows that there remains a substantial core of people who seem to take the view that non-white people should be grateful to be here and should just shut up if they don't want to be accused of having "chips on their shoulders", of "playing the race card", or of just being generally self-serving. I find it quite disheartening that this outrageously rude and offensive man can garner any support at all.
