‘Read all abaht it’ ... the suspect in the murder case. Why is so much being disclosed❓

His name, age, photograph, details of his two girls and his Ukrainian wife and mother in law are in all the newspapers.

Usually, the only details we would be privy to at this stage (he’s in custody not even charged yet) would be along the lines of ‘a 48y old man from Deal in Kent was arrested last night in connection with the murder of 33y old Sarah Everard who went missing last Wednesday’.

Today I read he attended hospital with a serious head injury and was later released back into custody. Also that he exposed himself 3 days before being arrested at a fast-food restaurant and the 2 officers involved in examining that are under investigation themselves.

So much information. It seems unprecedented. What on earth is going on here? How come lawyers for either the suspect or the Met Police haven’t complained about the press? I find it all very worrying on many levels. Anyone with thoughts on it all?

It sells newspapers, or boosts viewing figures.

Exactly

I just wish that the press would back off with their speculation ( yes, I know we all are), all the over analysis of who, what, where and why, plus what to my mind is an awful lot of hopping on bandwagons by people in the public eye must be making what is a dreadful situation, every family's nightmare, even worse for the victim's family.

Plus ça change re the press - every sensational murder brings out the worst in the worst of the press but their readers gorge in it

Thankfully I have never had to cope with a family member, friend or work colleague being murdered so I can only try to imagine the devastation a crime like that brings to so many people. Sarah's family are in a lot of people's thoughts and also, for me, I feel sorry for the 2 young children the suspect has. His wife is implicated in this too so their little world is being turned upside down through no fault of their own.

Right.

May justice be fully done.

I read that the officer concerned had been on sick leave a little while ago, seems like out of character behaviour. That of course is no comfort to Sarah's parents who must be devastated by all this speculation as well as the death of their daughter.

He’s been charged - we shouldn’t be discussing him personally now.

Good. I hope they don't cover up if anyone else from the force was involved.

suziewoozie Fri 12-Mar-21 21:23:40

He’s been charged so this speculation should stop

OnwardandUpward Fri 12-Mar-21 21:22:50

Apparently normal is right, unfortunately.

suziewoozie Fri 12-Mar-21 21:15:38

I never assume that wysiwyg

lemongrove Fri 12-Mar-21 21:14:52

I don’t mean only in this particular case Onward but in many cases that are similar.
It’s mystifying that ‘apparently’ normal family men will be found to have murdered a complete stranger.

BlueBelle none of us know anything, we are simply speculating on what and why.....like everybody does in a case like this.Because to normal people it’s mystifying that a man who leads a family life and has a responsible job could do something so awful.

No it's not (sorry)

Many men who seem responsible and respectable are living a second life that no one would suspect- I used to be married to one. Now nothing shocks me.

lemongrove Fri 12-Mar-21 20:55:21

Such as?

Oh dear. That begs so many questions.

Bluebelle A significant number.

The thought is, perhaps he didn't act alone and is being used as a scapegoat all through the news to cover up something else Perhaps there are more police involved? Or perhaps he's done other things and it's been covered up? Just guessing but who knows.

One thing I do know is, this type of behaviour doesn't "just happen". He would have been exhibiting these tendencies for years. Someone knows about this.

*That’s what I thought too, this behaviour seems to have come on very quickly* lemongrove how do you know this, he might have been doing things for years but never been caught

I still think he may have had a mental breakdown of some sort that sounds like a total whitewash how many people w ho have a breakdown expose themselves and murder someone ?

I agree - I don’t however think we should be discussing his mental health However , as it’s been started I’ll just list some of the defences men who murder women use

She told me she likes it rough - it was an accident
She drove me to it because - choose any of the following - she said I was no good in bed/ she was having an affair/ she was going to leave me - and I lost it
I’ve been having mental heath problems, I didn’t know what I was doing. And I’m ever so sorry

Poor Sarah sad Poor Sarah's family. flowers

Galaxy Fri 12-Mar-21 18:59:58

I dont think we should speculate on health etc. People in responsible jobs do bad things.

M0nica Fri 12-Mar-21 18:57:04

Given the very responsible job this policeman had, where mental and security checks would be frequent. I still think he may have had a mental breakdown of some sort.

You wonder if he has confessed?
Forensic evidence does not lie.
