I manage to fill my days but reach a point in the evening when I can't believe that it is too soon to go to bed but don't feel like I want to stay up. Is it just me or do other people who live alone feel this way?

DH is watching Lovejoy! I’m going to bed to read a book.

I start going cross-eyed at around 10 o'clock because my body thinks it's later---time for the clocks to go forward then I won't feel so bad going to bed at 10 as it'll be 11 if you get my drift.smile

The amount of times I've said those exact words! It's funny how evenings can drag and I'm not on my own

Got the dogs and husband and we tend to do an evening walk but I still get back and it's around 8 or 9 and it feels as if it's midnight!

That hour between 9 & 10 is the worst. It really drags but I won't go to bed before 10. There's just nothing to do atm and nothing to talk about. I don't think I could take much more of lockdown. So pleased it's being lifted albeit slowly. I just want everything to open up again and then we'd have more to do instead of this interminable nothingness.

I like the evenings, watch tv if there’s anything good, if not, look at Gransnet or read my library book.

Bed at about 10.

Evenings an enjoyable part of my day.

Never mind it's nearly 9 now grin

I can hear the bloomin' wind getting up. All I want at night !

Pantglas2 Fri 26-Mar-21 21:01:46

Yes, agreed, but tonight the last six nations rugby match is on and we need to be wide awake to see Scotland ??????? beat France ?? so that Wales ??????? win the tournament- how multi cultured am I ? (and Anniebach)

I have been in bed 20 mins but I will be messing about on this IPad for a couple of hours yet and even then I can’t sleep.
I just like resting in my comfortable bed.

Roses Fri 26-Mar-21 21:05:45

Thanks ELLANNIN but will stay up to watch goggle box ?

nadateturbe Fri 26-Mar-21 21:14:15

Same here Annsixty. My OH is watching rugby or football downstairs.

I don't normally think like that, but I have found during this strange time I have looked at the clock and thought, Is that all the time it is? I've got all those hours to fill yet!
I was shocked when I realised I was doing it and now make sure I have a plan for each day.

I am watching Rugby then will go up stairs with a glass of red wine and watch Schitts Creek on my iPad.

An enjoyable way to end the day Redhead56 Schitts Creek is brilliant.

I’m a night owl and come alive at night. Never go to bed much before midnight and I couldn’t sleep if I did.

Kim19 Sat 27-Mar-21 05:56:31

Yes, during these dark and cold nights recently I've 'logicalised' myself into thinking why should I sit here burning electricity on fire and tv when I can cosy up in bed with my iPad and achieve the same result. Another reason to welcome the extra (lost!) hour with open arms. Also booked a lunch outing for the end of April. Very exciting....

grandMattie Sat 27-Mar-21 06:01:45

Wecalways go to bed at 10 and read. But... I’m usually up by 0600 often earlier, so I don’t fell stupid going to bed early.

Katyj Sat 27-Mar-21 06:14:18

I’m in bed by 9pm, put the tv on, but I never see 9.30, fast asleep. Wake up then at 5am ,at least it will be 6am on Sunday . Yeah !

DanniRae Sat 27-Mar-21 07:20:52

So glad to read that I am not the only one longing for my bed by about 8.30. I don't feel that I can go to bed till 10ish. Mainly because I wake up early enough as it is - around 5am - and don't want to wake any earlier! Soooooo pleased that the clocks go forward TONIGHT so I will be a bit more in step and my exhausted 9pm becomes bed time at 10pm - IYSWIM grin

Lucca Sat 27-Mar-21 07:33:10

I often go to bed at 9./9.30. Never stay up later than 10.30 unless “out”.
Get up late as well!!

henetha Sat 27-Mar-21 09:43:28

I'm a bit of a night owl. Never go to bed before 11 pm and then read until midnight. It seems to work for me.

Witzend Sat 27-Mar-21 09:48:58

I went to bed at 9.30 last night - knew I’d only fall asleep on the sofa otherwise. Dh was still watching the rugby so evidently I missed a thrilling finish there - well done Scotland! ??
Usually it has to be at least 10 though.
Why I was so tired I don’t know, I hadn’t even had my usual walk - we’d been to a funeral a good 2 hours’ drive away.

FarNorth Sat 27-Mar-21 09:53:12

I often feel really tired around 8pm but put off time for a bit longer - then perk up and find myself staying up till midnight or later. confused
