Shoes how many do you own!

I have loads, especially sandals and have just ordered another pair, in navy. I bought them from Gabor. I have wide, quite sensitive feet and Gabor do some stylish ones.

My OH thinks I have too many shoes, but I do like an outfit to match! He says he has a brown pair and a black pair and that’s enough!

FannyCornforth Sat 01-May-21 10:06:29

Well, how many have you got Sally?
One person's 'loads' is very different to another's smile

timetogo2016 Sat 01-May-21 10:07:39

At a guess i would say around 8-10 pairs.
All but one pair are Clarks the other is Timberland.

Jaxjacky Sat 01-May-21 10:07:58

3 pairs of flip flops
1 pair of ankle boots
1 pair of high boots
3 pairs of trainers (Skechers)
1 pair of wellies

Nothing ever matches.

Probably about 25/30 pairs.

However, when I first moved overseas, I had to sort out my entire house, because I rented it out. I had over 100 pairs of shoes. I did manage to sell quite a lot of them on Ebay though.

I have many pairs of shoes too. Heels, flats and many different colours. I like a co-ordinated outfit. I did work in a footwear company where a perk was a free pair every six months and as a result I have amassed a fair collection of quality shoes. Fact is I haven't bought a single new pair in the last eight years since I retired. Think my collection will see me out.

JackyB Sat 01-May-21 10:10:31

I sorted out my shoes a few months ago but I still haven't worn any of the ones I kept back. So I shall have another purge soon and just leave myself with

-A pair of ankle boots for winter
- a pair of trainers with easy-to-do-up laces
- a pair of plain smarter shoes with a low heel
- a pair of sandals
- hiking boots

I never really got the attraction of shoes. One pair of plain black shoes goes with everything, surely.?

FannyCornforth Sat 01-May-21 10:15:33

About 30 - 40 pairs.
Mainly ankle boots and lots of trainers and converse type suede things.

Blossoming Sat 01-May-21 10:17:55

I daren’t count them ?

Auntieflo Sat 01-May-21 10:28:50

Blossoming, like me then ?

Grammaretto Sat 01-May-21 10:30:47

I have one more pair as of today. I can't seem to throw them out.
Deciding to throw out:
1) Look at them objectively.
2) Old favourites: Think I will wear those for gardening
3) Frugality: May need them for a posh do even through they hurt
4) Common sense: These are too good to chuck and someone else could wear them. who?
5) Nostalgia: I wore these to that dance with DH

Ofcourse it's important to have comfortable feet but you also have to like the shoes for your self esteem/image etc.

I probably own about 30 pairs but constantly wear only 4.

Kim19 Sat 01-May-21 10:32:22

JackyB, completely understand your last comment but totally disagree with it. Think black shoes will always be acceptable but seldom effective with a colourful outfit. Isn't it great that we're all so different.

GagaJo Sat 01-May-21 10:32:35

I have a gorgeous pair of really elegant and classy looking black heels. I've worn them 10/15 times.

They still fit. Perfectly. But I find wearing heels SO HARD now. Can't bear to get rid of them though. They are gorgeous.

Calendargirl Sat 01-May-21 10:33:14

Probably about a dozen or so pairs of different types, most are years old and some I never wear. Will have a sort out. My mindset is similar to Grammaretto.

henetha Sat 01-May-21 10:34:13

Just did a quick count and it's ten pairs. Mostly Pavers/Sketchers comfortable trainers. 2 pairs of boots.
2 pairs of summer sandals. One pair of smart shoes.

New shoes are a joy, you’re missing out on JackieB. In the very prescient words of Paulo Nuttini,

‘Woke up cold one Tuesday
I'm looking tired and feeling quite sick
I felt like there was something missing
In my day to day life
So I quickly opened the wardrobe
Pulled out some jeans and a T-Shirt that seemed clean
Topped it off with a pair of old shoes
That were ripped around the seams
And I thought these shoes just don't suit me
Hey, I put some new shoes on
And suddenly everything's right
I said, hey, I put some new shoes on
And everybody's smiling, it's so inviting
Oh, short on money but long on time
Slowly strolling in the sweet sunshine
And I'm running late and I don't need an excuse
'Cause I'm wearing my brand new shoes.’

I’ve just counted, I have 37 pairs including wellies, slippers etc. and I’m unrepentant, they make me happy - I’m not an extravagant person either, I don’t collect anything else (except plants).

Septimia Sat 01-May-21 10:49:27

More than I need! Must get rid of some......

TrendyNannie6 Sat 01-May-21 10:49:42

4 pairs of sandals, 3 pairs of trainers, 2 pairs of pumps, no flip flops 2 pairs of high boots , 5 pairs ankle boots, 2 pairs of shoes, 2 pairs slippers

Missingmoominmama Sat 01-May-21 10:50:37

I have 4 pairs of walking boots/shoes. DH thinks that’s excessive.

I’ve just ordered another pair after reading rave reviews in Country Walking magazine.

In my defence, I have weird feet.

EllanVannin Sat 01-May-21 11:13:08

During my working years I was known as Imelda Marcos because of the many pairs of shoes I had----of every colour to match whatever I wore. I had some beauties, many with heels.

All but a few pairs ended up at charity shops as ageing feet aren't nice, especially if swollen, to say nothing of the discomfort of the shoes.

I still have a few pairs in the cupboard, soft leather summery ones and autumn/winter types, boots and flats.
Two pairs which I wear all the time, alternately, Hotter's and Clarks as I still like a good shoe.
I might have about 20 pairs altogether now, some of which I doubt I'll get my feet into grin

Kim19 Sat 01-May-21 11:21:48

Thought I might be in trouble with heels after lockdown when I hit the big city for lunch last Monday. Not a bit of it and happily all fine. Roll on next Wednesday when I'm socialising yet again (!!) and will try out another pair. Last of the ravers, that's me!

GrannyGravy13 Sat 01-May-21 11:41:48

Oh dear friends I must confess to a shoe/boot addiction

I have absolutely no idea how many but they include:-

I have just deleted an approximate list, far too embarrassed to post. I definitely have a problem and an understanding DH

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sat 01-May-21 11:51:00

Eight pairs of shoes and two pairs of slippers. Taking a size 3 is a problem so shoe shopping can be a frustrating business which I avoid it whenever possible.
Funnily enough I just happened to see a nice pair in the supermarket yesterday, not only in my size but a good colour and style. They were comfy so I snapped them up. Astonishing.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 01-May-21 11:54:56

I feel your pain lovebeigecardigans1955 I am also a shoe size 3 and some makes I am a 2. Which is why if I see a pair I like in my size I snap them up regardless (have been known to buy several pairs the same in different colours)

Grammaretto Sat 01-May-21 12:02:21

I think it was Hillary Clinton who said that you can do little to suddenly change your body shape or your face but you can always change your hair and your shoes.
So never resent spending on a good hair cut and gorgeous shoes.
