Congratulations to Boris and Carrie who got married today in Westminster Catholic Cathedral. Just that really. I love weddings, doesn't matter who the couple are, I always hope it works out happily.

Are you sure it was the real thing, or is there a proper ceremony in 3 days' time?
Sorry!

I cant see this anywhere? Am I being rubbish.

MawBe Sat 29-May-21 20:28:46

Really?

Ngaio1 Sat 29-May-21 20:30:57

Good Luck to them. I have just gone to the BBC News online and there is no news of the Wedding - just a blinking football match. Of no interest to me and many others, I dare say.

I saw this in a Welsh online paper - what a scoop for them!

From the Scottish Sun- disclaimer, I don’t read the Sun!

Boris and Carrie chose to tie the knot in London’s main Roman Catholic cathedral, just 1.5 miles from Downing Street

Visiting tourists were blissfully unaware it was about to host the wedding of the year.

But shortly after 1.30pm, the Byzantine-style church was suddenly cleared out. Staff told visitors the building was going into lockdown.

Half an hour later a limo carrying the bride swept into the piazza outside the main west door, just 300 yards from busy Victoria Station

Carrie, 33, stepped out wearing a stunning long and flowing white dress. She chose not to wear a veil

I spotted it on Twitter, but Google confirms www.thesun.co.uk/news/15108452/boris-johnson-marries-carrie-symonds-westminster/

Congratulations!

Are people who have committed adultery outside of marriage many times in many marriages allowed to get married in Catholic Cathedrals shock

Atqui Sat 29-May-21 20:54:00

It wasn’t on the afternoon news. Strange!

Callistemon Sat 29-May-21 20:54:24

Boris and Carrie chose to tie the knot in London’s main Roman Catholic cathedral

Is this true because I understood Catholics could not marry for a second time in church?

I know that the C of E allows this.

Callistemon Sat 29-May-21 20:54:59

X post, JaneJudge

Callistemon Sat 29-May-21 20:56:00

Or a third time ...

JaneJudge Sat 29-May-21 20:57:28

There are rules in all churches I understand but I thought Catholic were much more Orthodox regarding rules around remarriage and he well...

Kali2 Sat 29-May-21 21:02:01

are they both Catholic?

Callistemon Sat 29-May-21 21:04:30

Kali2

are they both Catholic?

Perhaps not.
So she could be married but not him??

Curiouser and curiouser!

Anniebach Sat 29-May-21 21:12:46

I thought divorced Catholics had to have their marriage annulled before remarrying in Church

Callistemon Sat 29-May-21 21:14:25

So, if previous marriages are annulled, does that make children of those marriages illegitimate?

Not that it matters morally but it could legally.

lemongrove Sat 29-May-21 21:26:55

I thought they were marrying next year...there is nothing on the news ( from anywhere) about it.

Luckygirl Sat 29-May-21 21:27:59

False news!?? - effective for deflecting the minds of the public from other things?

EllanVannin Sat 29-May-21 21:37:42

I wasn't aware that his previous marriage was annulled ?
