Dido Harding. Her ego is far bigger than her ability! ?

She messed up with TalkTalk.
Then test & trace.
Now she want to run NHS England, replacing Sir Simon Stevens who is stepping down next month (to become a peer, ye gods).

Has the woman no shame?
I wouldn’t trust her to run my bath.

winterwhite Sun 06-Jun-21 12:55:02

Entirely agree! Sounds a real disaster. Tho I thought that there were others pushing her forward who want her appointed in outfit to be a yes-woman.
Don't particularly begrudge Simon Stevens a peerage in due course. Thought he was standing down because he'd had enough, which is honest.

Ro60 Sun 06-Jun-21 13:06:27

Bath ???
Agree that's why she's there - as a yes-woman and to further push the NHS towards privatisation.

EllanVannin Sun 06-Jun-21 13:14:52

Somebody else I can't stand. Where do these people get their brass necks from ?

Casdon Sun 06-Jun-21 13:16:17

I can’t believe that in this key key role Sir Simon Stevens would be replaced by somebody who doesn’t have such a robust and wide ranging experience in healthcare as he does, having come up through the ranks and worked in international roles. That’s what gives him the credibility within the NHS and within parliament. There are other people who could do this job well, so why appoint somebody who has none of the necessary credentials?

You would hope that the Government would have more sense.

EllanVannin Sun 06-Jun-21 13:23:03

I was one of thousands who received a letter of apology from Talktalk telling me that my account could possibly have been compromised----not possibly, it WAS ! Scam calls galore and a nightmare for months, but no compensation !

Urmstongran Sun 06-Jun-21 13:29:50

Hopefully she won’t pass the interview!
?

FarNorth Sun 06-Jun-21 13:34:14

I imagine she'll be rushed straight in. The government has plenty of sense - all being used in the interests of themselves and their chums.

vampirequeen Sun 06-Jun-21 13:59:17

She'll get the job. The gov want someone useless so they can push privatisation even faster.

Someone on FB suggested that each time we have treatment on the NHS we are given a receipt showing how much it would have cost if it had been done privately. Maybe that would shock people out of their apathy and make them value a nationalised health system far more than some do.

This woman must be spectacularly successful - whatever she does, she gets some kind of promotion out of it. On the face of it, looking at Talk Talk and Test and Trace, you wouldn't think so. confused

The leading candidates for the next CEO of NHS England
The hopefuls. Sir James Mackey, chief executive, Northumbria Healthcare. Why: Hugely successful and respected trust CEO. ...
The safe pairs of hands. Julian Hartley, chief executive, Leeds Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust. ...
The outside bets. Sir Mike Deegan, chief executive, Manchester University Trust.
This is from the Health Service Journal.

She may be flying a kite - I hope so as these candidates are all far more credible.

Vet's bills are a good comparison as well Vampire I remember in the days when you paid a shilling for a prescription being charged a pound for an antibiotic for a pet seemed astronomical. Now of course vet's bills can run into thousands.

I'd love to know what their criteria are. Who looks at women like Dido and Priti and thinks they should be in positions of power?

Urmstongran Sun 06-Jun-21 14:15:43

Thanks for the extra info Casdon it’s good to know who the runners and riders are here!

Please, please let it not be Dido at the finishing post.

Here’s the job description for the role. It’s a civil service post so in the public domain.

Gwyneth Sun 06-Jun-21 16:23:17

I hope she doesn’t get the job because she is the only woman in the list of candidates.

AGAA4 Sun 06-Jun-21 16:30:53

Why would you give the job to someone who has failed spectacularly in other roles?

GrannySomerset Sun 06-Jun-21 16:39:18

Was it called the Peter Principle? Keep promoting someone after each failure until they were so exalted other people did all the work. Can’t remember exactly but it certainly applies in Harding’s case.

Well if she was running my bath I would be very suspicious and wonder how she got into my flat,

My vote is for Hartley, this being a family name.

^Who looks at women^ people ^like Dido and Priti and thinks they should be in positions of power?^

Yes let's include people like Hancock, Williamson and of course Johnson.

I don’t think Dido Harding was promoted by the Peter Principle!!

Wikipedia says:

The Peter Principle is a concept in management developed by Laurence J. Peter, which observes that people in a hierarchy tend to rise to their "level of incompetence": employees are promoted based on their success in previous jobs until they reach a level at which they are no longer competent, as skills in one job do not necessarily translate to another.

FarNorth Sun 06-Jun-21 17:13:12

because more can be done.

Dido Queen of Carnage. She keeps getting these jobs for which she has no qualifications or expertise because she knows people who know people. It was ever thus.
