This has been irritating me for days now,I just don’t get it,I really don’t so could somebody explain it please(it’s a plus net advert)

I haven't seen it

Blossoming Thu 26-Aug-21 23:19:36

From The Answer Bank.

The guy cooking on the barbecue has had plastic surgery which means that, although he's portly, with a bald patch and clearly middle-aged from the back, his face now makes him look like a heart-throb model in his twenties.

The guy who asks him about it, from behind, and who then sees the new face, responds with "That'll do" which, as the ad goes onto explain, is a Yorkshire way of saying "That's fantastic!"

Ahhhhh right…thank you Blossoming….. still think it’s a rubbish advert, I think I’ll get back to my shed…?

Zoejory Thu 26-Aug-21 23:32:04

Oh I rather like that advert, Shinamae!

Always makes me smile smile

Blossoming Thu 26-Aug-21 23:34:07

I’ve watched it,but I don’t know what it’s advertising, which seems to defeat the object!

Shinamae Thu 26-Aug-21 23:34:24

Would be a boring old world if we all liked the same things Zoejory…?

Zoejory Thu 26-Aug-21 23:48:54

Very true, Shinamae!

And yes, Blossoming, I don't have a clue what it's for either.

Me neither and I didn't get it at all!

Mind you, I'm not always concentrating on the adverts and I've never rushed out and bought something because I saw it advertised on TV! ?

I did once, Callistemon. Many years ago there was a dessert called Viennetta. The advert had sultry music as a hand was seen with a large knife. They cut into the ice cream and there was a very satisfying crunchy sound.

Forced my Mum to buy one and it was absolute rubbish. No crunch sound at all.

Callistemon Fri 27-Aug-21 00:05:16

Ooh, Viennetta!

Yes, I may have bought that after seeing the advert!
My DC used to like it
Is it still available?

Shinamae Fri 27-Aug-21 00:30:53

Yes I think it be a viennetta is still available..

Shinamae Fri 27-Aug-21 00:32:03

What?? Really,no clue ?‍♀️ But it is very late…. And I should actually be asleep…

DanniRae Fri 27-Aug-21 07:46:38

There's a standing joke in our family regarding Viennetta. My mother-in-law, who liked to think she was a cut above the rest (she definitely wasn't but had a good heart) used to proudly announce that we had Vielletta for dessert when we visited. And it's been called Vielletta ever since smile

H1954 Fri 27-Aug-21 07:52:31

TV commercials? Isn't that when we go and make a cuppa?

Ali08 Fri 27-Aug-21 07:54:54

Vienetta is still available, but at half the original size!
Look in Iceland, Morrison's, Asda etc.
I like the mint one but can't have too much at once.

Allsorts Fri 27-Aug-21 07:56:03

I don’t get that advert either!

BlueBelle Fri 27-Aug-21 07:58:41

I didn’t get the question ???

FarNorth Fri 27-Aug-21 07:59:23

I can't imagine what that plastic surgery ad might be advertising.
I hope the plastic doesn't melt, close to the barbecue.

MiniMoon Fri 27-Aug-21 09:19:38

It made me smile but it wouldn't make me want to switch my broadband supplier. I don't know anyone who is on Plusnet.

GillT57 Fri 27-Aug-21 09:58:18

We usually record programmes on commercial tv so that we can watch it and whizz through the adverts! Viennetta are smaller than they used to be, like wagon wheels.

Katek Fri 27-Aug-21 10:06:17

…..and Mars bars…..

trisher Fri 27-Aug-21 10:09:36

My DS makes constant complaints about Wagon Wheels and also Club. You no longer Get a lot of chocolate on your Club.

I didn't get that advert at all.

Blossoming Fri 27-Aug-21 10:14:35

Curlywurly used to be enormous! Or maybe I was just a lot smaller grin. You can still get Viennetta, Mr. B loves it but we very rarely buy it.

FarNorth Fri 27-Aug-21 10:22:30

Creme eggs too.
