I hate cats……

I really don’t like cats, I live in an area that is teeming with them.

Our local neighbourhood watch Facebook page is full of pictures of lost cats and now people are just posting “cute” photographs of their cats.

I don’t get how anyone can be so crazy about these furry pests that use my garden as a toilet.

Am I alone?

I love cats and dogs, but DH is very allergic to cats so we can’t have one.
I don’t begrudge people sharing pics of their beloved pets.
You can get plug in things that beep to keep cats out of your garden, supposedly silent to humans but I can hear them.

I love all animals, but prefer dogs to cats. Really don't understand anyone would hate cats though. Perhaps if you got to know one you would feel differently.

I am on what will probably be my last two cats now but I have had many over the years. All my neighbours have cats so none of us find them a nuisance. I'm afraid the main reason that Sago has cats using her garden as a toilet is that she doesn't have a cat of her own to keep them away.

Yep.. Cats will make a bee line to yours.
Had both Cats and Dogs... Cats every time.

I make no apologies for being a crazy cat momma to my gorgeous ginger boy but each to their own

I'm a cat person at heart. I've had dogs too but I prefer cats and they way they keep themselves clean. We have an elderly dog now and he will be the last. They get smelly as they get older despite grooming and bathing.

I love cats. Our two are now 11 (60 in human years) and are part of the family.

I love my Molly and today my road is very sad because one of our cats, a Maine coon/ Persian has been run over.
His owners are heartbroken and all the neighbours are so sad as he visited most of us everyday.
As he came in and ate Molly’s food often ,my cat food bills will go down but he was such a loveable character I would have been more than happy to have him still visiting.

I can't go near a cat. It triggers an asthma attack. My youngest son also has the same problem. A couple of my neighbours have cats, but they don't stray over to my garden. They must know ?

My terrier hates cats too, but is far to slow to be any real threat, she does however keep them out of the garden, so we are mostly a cat free zone.

I've had cats in the past. Wouldn't have one now though as I don't like the carnage they cause amongst the local bird and small mammal wildlife. Cats are great companions to people, especially those who live alone and so I can understand why people love them so.

I love cats. I like (most) dogs but cats do it for me. I can’t really imagine hating any animal, tbh. confused

My cat, the survivor of two brothers, has never caught a thing in their lives. They’re living, breathing teddy bears.

lavenderzen Wed 22-Sep-21 21:29:15

Goodness, that's a bit strong Sago! I don't "hate" any animal; humans, yes, probably.

GagaJo Wed 22-Sep-21 21:34:34

I'm with you lavenderzen. Really dislike quite a lot of people. Never met an animal I didn't like.

My two cats are house cats so don't damage anything other than my interior decor.

I used to be a cat person, now I don’t really like them, but I love dogs, (never liked them before). Weird how this change came about, no particular reason for it.

I love cats. I can’t have one where I live now, but my son has recently got a young cat, whose adventures I avidly follow,

Until now, I have always had at least one cat, the first when I was eight years old. At one point I had four, but I think two is the ideal. They are cuddly and affectionate, but can do their own thing quite happily. That’s why I prefer them to dogs.

I love kitties. I've been around them since I was a child. Currently we have two rescue girls. Our girls are inside cats and very rarely go out; one does not go out at all. They have a litter box inside that they use. They are very sweet little girls.

Sara1954 Wed 22-Sep-21 22:11:59

Our cat is very much an outside cat, just pops in to be fed, never cuddles up with anyone, or shows an affection, and although he’s about ten, and should be used to us, he still backs away from us, as if we’re going to do something awful to him.
He’s a strange little thing, but we are all fond of him.

BigBertha1 Wed 22-Sep-21 22:12:31

I really dislike cats. They make me sneeze, wheeze and itch. They also use my garden as a toilet.

Kate1949 Wed 22-Sep-21 23:05:07

I really dislike dogs but saying you hate cats doesn't seem to provoke such a strong reaction as if you say you don't like dogs. I've been called 'not very nice' and all sorts of stuff because I don't like dogs. We'll I don't.

Lincslass Wed 22-Sep-21 23:14:54

Seems many people have cats because they look after themselves, open the door in the morning and out they go. Let them in for their tea, then back out for the night. They don’t dare come in my garden to use it as a toilet either. The cats around me ,well we have a mutual dislike of one another.

Hetty58 Wed 22-Sep-21 23:28:51

I've almost always had cats (and dogs) - and just love them, despite being allergic!

I don't understand how anyone could hate them. It's lovely watching my happy terrier and cat (best friends) in the garden, playing 'You chase me - then I'll chase you'. The cat's an expert at surprise ambush!

Looking after them really well and watching them together, having fun, without a care in the world - makes me happy.

VioletSky Wed 22-Sep-21 23:39:35

I hate squirrels!

I am a life-long cat lover. I didn’t really have much interest in dogs until I got a golden retriever a few years ago. I love dogs now! I don’t see how anyone can hate an animal. I even have a fairly tame skunk that visits my front door looking for cat food to eat. He shows up when I call the cat in at night! This makes me smile. ?
