Crumbs, opening a new kitchen is a bit of a responsibility. I hope everyone finds it - I'll just leave the door ajar.

Bubbles and cake on the side - enjoy!

Lona Sun 16-Sep-18 14:15:11

I'm sure soop will be pleased that you've done the honours kitty! smile

Marydoll Sun 16-Sep-18 14:20:09

Thanks, Kitty. I shall continue lurk, awaiting news of Soop and Panache.

Charleygirl Sun 16-Sep-18 14:24:09

ann I am delighted to hear that you had a relaxing holiday and that the girls enjoyed it too. Decent food makes all the difference and hopefully you had a bottle or two of wine with or without a straw,

You are going to need more help when H comes home tomorrow. Like me you are marginally over 29.

I am obviously one of the woollyheaded boring lot and happy to be so- joining you "ann". If perplexed look at "New to GN". Bl***y cheek.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 16-Sep-18 14:32:29

I am usually in the garden looking in through the window at your lovely kitchen, but if you do not mind I will join you more often.

Lovely decor, thank you for cake and bubbles.

I really hope all the poorly kitcheners are a swift recovery ???☕️

Anniebach Sun 16-Sep-18 14:43:14

I too look through the window

kittylester Sun 16-Sep-18 15:10:25

Don't look through the window - it's almost autumn and will be getting decidedly chilly out there. Come inside - we have brewcupcakecafe and wine.

Chewbacca Sun 16-Sep-18 15:13:44

I lurk by the kitchen door, earwigging on whats going on! grin Only rarely have I actually stepped inside to say hello and swipe a coconut macaroon on my way back out.

But now I feel guilty so I've made you this ?. I'm not a brilliant baker so watch how you go with it.

Pittcity Sun 16-Sep-18 15:34:39

I've washed my hands (the fewer germs in this fresh kitchen, the better) and will sit quietly in the corner awaiting Soop's return.

annodomini Sun 16-Sep-18 16:02:59

I like your name for the new kitchen, kitty. It says it all. soop, if you're listening, kitty has done a grand job. I hope to see you soon, sitting here well wrapped up in a tartan rug and sampling the various delicacies that we'll be saving for you. So get better soon. We miss you. flowers

Bellanonna Sun 16-Sep-18 16:36:40

Thank you kitty. It will be good to see our hostess fit and we’ll enough to join us. Meanwhile, let’s relax and enjoy the view. Your opening word was “crumbs”, kitty. Yes that’s exactly all I found. Must learn to be quick !

ChaosIncorporated Sun 16-Sep-18 16:38:49

Well done kitty
Love the additional chairs! we definitely needed them!!
Delighted to see so many people coming in from the garden smile

Grannynise Sun 16-Sep-18 16:54:51

Morethan2 I'm holding you and your family in my thoughts.

Jalima1108 Sun 16-Sep-18 17:05:30

Lift your feet up, folks, as I need to sweep around with my virtual broom.
My word, you're a messy lot - we must try to keep up some standards ready for the return of soop and anyone else who is under the weather at the moment.

There are some freshly baked blueberry muffins on the table - watch those crumbs please!

Charleygirl Sun 16-Sep-18 17:34:18

My apologies all of you who find that sleeps alludes you. I slept well last night, up only once and today every time I sit down with a cup of coffee I am asleep. Heaven knows what will happen tonight as I have slept away the afternoon and the sunshine. The bush cutting will have to be for another day.

soop I seriously meant if you are still feeling as unwell you should call the GP or before you know it you will be hospitalised. I do not want to have to get on a train- the journey is long and what would Tara do?

soop Sun 16-Sep-18 18:00:40

kitty et al...huge thank-yous for holding the fort and for opening the new kitchen. I really appreciate what you've done. I like the name of our new kitchen. Sounds classy wink flowers

I have just checked emails for any further news from Mr Panache and there is nothing to report.

I then thought that I would like to say hello to you lovely lot. guess what? I needed to log in and had forgotten my password. I was, locked out. I burst into tears and MacSporran helped me to set up a new password. And...here I am, for a fleeting visit.

Before I say anymore, would you all kindly have a group (((hug))) You are very special peoples. Also, I need your advice. I have not the strength to get out of bed, let alone visit the computer for a cosy chat. What I do need, at times such as this, are your thoughts on the best I-thingy for me. I do not need complicated gizmos. I do not wish to play games or music. I do not want to clutter my life with Apps. Said like an old fashioned fart! I would like to use the internet and message my family and my friends (especially you lot). I've missed you terribly.

This virus may be miniscule but it has packed an almighty punch. I've spent almost all week in bed. I do not enjoy being bed-bound. Thankfully MacS has taken care of me and the house. The UTI is less troublesome. the antibio's have kicked in. My cough is disgusting and I have the "runs". Thank goodness for a bathroom close to my bed. I also have conjunctivitis and the eye is blood shot and sticky. What else? Do you know what, I'm bloody exhausted. Even my hair hurts when I brush it. I wish to goodness that I could wake up and do normal stuff. Normal stuff is top of my list of priorities.

As you are aware, we have a wee treat to look forward to in a week or so. shock No way can we mess up the plans that we've made and paid for.

I shall try to sit here longer tomorrow. How do I catch up otherwise!

PLEASE forgive this totally selfish outpouring of the poor mes I hate myself with a vengeance.

Just being here and feeling part of our circle of friendship has brightened my day. Thank you. THANK YOU. From the bottom of my heart. x

Charleygirl Sun 16-Sep-18 18:11:19

Please call your GP tomorrow- you are anything but well.

ChaosIncorporated Sun 16-Sep-18 18:31:31

"soop" !!!! it is wonderful to hear from you and I think you are probably entitled to an entire thread of poor me'ing ....or should that be more pe'ing? (pleased to hear that the UTI, at least, is improving)
I do agree with charleygirl ... another visit from the GP does seem in order if you are still feeling so weak and exhausted.
I can offer no advice about I'anythings, I'm afraid. I dislike them intensely. Apparently the world falls into two tech camps.... fruity, or otherwise.
I am a devoted 'otherwise'! grin
I adore my s*ms*ng tablet, if thats any help.

I am taking two blueberry muffins, as my reward for having mowed the lawn before the rain arrived.
jalima I am ensuring the crumbs go under the rug in their usual place.

Bellanonna Sun 16-Sep-18 19:02:25

Dearest soop. Get thee an iPad. Easy to use. So much easier than switching on and off a computer. Expensive initial outlay but very reliable. You can check things during TV ads and it can just sit beside you. Ideal for when you’re bed bound.
As CG says, maybe contact GP if you feel no better but I think it’s just a waiting game and hopefully the Abs will do their stuff soon. Don’t let it become pneumonia though, as I did a couple of years ago. When you are really well, consider an iPad. Meanwhile dear soop just get better!!

annsixty Sun 16-Sep-18 19:07:26

Dear soop I am so sorry you still feel so ill, I hope you soon feel better and am so happy for you that Mcs is looking after you so well, he is a treasure,.
You really must get well to enjoy your much looked forward to excursion. It will do you the world of good.
It has rained here today, although it cleared up later, I am still so tired but have to rouse myself ready for tomorrow.
Take care everyone, especially those under par.

Greyduster Sun 16-Sep-18 19:50:30

Soop do not trouble yourself about not being on here with us when you are feeling so poorly. You don’t need technology to be connected with us all, as you are constantly in our thoughts! I am sure with MacS’s gentle care you will be raring to go when your special break comes around.
Thank you, Kitty for opening the new kitchen. Don’t they come around quickly these days?
Ann I am delighted that you had a good time on holiday and I hope it served to strengthen your reserves. I know we always say when we come back from a holiday that we could do with another to get over it, but the good effects will make themselves felt!
Our family lunch went very well this afternoon, although it became obvious at one stage that I was trying to keep too many balls in the air!! Luckily, DS came to my rescue. I asked him to test the meat to see if it was done and, with his usual ex military organisation, he took over the kitchen and made me his sous chef. From then it went swimmingly! He’s awfully bossy though! Not at all like his dear mama grin! There is strawberry flan and a modicum of birthday cake left if anyone is interested!
I brought some sweaters in off the line this evening and took them upstairs to put on the airer. When I came down, I was just going to plonk myself in a chair when I felt an irritation on my back and could hear a buzzing noise, so I whipped off my shirt and went upstairs to ask DH if he could see what it was. It doesn’t look as if anything has left a sting, but there is a large red mark. We can find no sign of the offending insect, and I can’t think how it got down the back of my shirt, but it has made me very jumpy because it must be somewhere!
I will bid you a peaceful evening and a restful night, and look in tommorrow.

Doodle Sun 16-Sep-18 20:09:54

greyduster you are so correct. soop you are in our thoughts as well as panache annsixty , and morethan and all the kitcheners who are poorly or have troubles at the moment.

soop, at the start of the last kitchen (or was it the one before) you expressed thoughts as to whether or not the kitchen was needed or was of use anymore. I think the honest answer is that we need you and the kitchen more than ever. We have amassed many more 'kitcheners' this year and so many more who need love and support.

Get well soon soop we love you and need you (and MacSporran) but we will keep the home fires burning until you feel fit to pick up the reins again. Gentle (hug)
Thank you kitty for starting the new kitchen. ?

Fennel Sun 16-Sep-18 20:49:28

Thinking of you soop - that sounds like a really nasty bug that you've been fighting.
But you'll come back (you have to!)

callgirl1 Sun 16-Sep-18 20:59:05

Yet more good wishes to Soop from here, please do look after yourselves, both of you xx
Ann, lovely to hear about your holiday, sounds super restful.
Off now to watch Bodyguard, Yum!!

Overthehills Sun 16-Sep-18 21:24:37

Soop I do ageee with others that it might be time to get the doctor in - so many different things going on. Moan all you like - if you have the energy to moan we have the energy to listen. I’m new in the kitchen but it’s the friendliest place on GN. Could you manage a piece of DDiL’s lemon drizzle? Shouldn’t make too many crumbs Jalima wink
