Spent a few minutes this morning looking everywhere for a pair of jeans which I thought could do with a wash.

I was wearing them!!!
There is no hope...

(We used to have a dog called Bonkers - christened by previous owners. And a very lovely boy he was too.)

I often hunt for my sunglasses...........!

Beammeupscottie Wed 22-May-19 14:52:54

I have found myself placing glasses on my face over a pair already sitting there, beneath the pair on top of my head and over the pair stuck down my bra..

Well my sunglasses were absolutely lost!!! nowhere to be found....until I took off the cap I'd been wearing to keep the sun off my head..?

EllanVannin Wed 22-May-19 15:49:34

I once arrived at school with the butter dish in my school bag. My glasses were in the fridge.

rosecarmel Wed 22-May-19 17:10:54

That's it .. The butter dish in the school bag did me in, I'm in tears ..

DoraMarr - you reminded me...I came out of a staff meeting at school and realised I had different shoes on, one heeled and one flat AND my skirt was on inside out! grin

Midgey grin

I sat in my solicitor's office for almost an hour recently, sorting out conveyancing matters. Just outside her office was a full length mirror. That's when I spotted that my top was on back to front and inside out!

Paid a visit to the GP; told him what was wrong. “Oh,” he said “I thought you’d come to see me about your feet.” I looked down and was wearing carpet slippers!

I arrived at school one day wearing one black shoe and one brown one, different height heels, but it was during the time when we trialled not putting the clocks back, (very dark mornings) and I was newly married.

My mum went shopping with a roll of kitchen paper under her arm instead of a handbag....didn't notice till it was time to pay!!

My friend went to work on the tube with a pair of pants ( clean ones) on her head (she’d been using them to tie her hair back in the shower),

I set out some craft stuff for the imminent arrival of my grandson. These included a packet of A4 cards.

Only a few minutes later, I searched frantically through the craft drawer looking for the A4 card.
It was only when I gave up and sat at the table with my coffee, wondering if in fact I'd left them in the shop, I saw them at my elbow but still didn't remember putting them there.

Why do these jig-saw pieces of memory fall out of the patterns so easily ?

My mother went up to bed with a milk bottle in her hand after depositing her handbag on the front step.

Miep1 Thu 23-May-19 08:26:00

My mother put the waving up liquid in the fridge and did the washing up with milk...more than once. Also fed the cat Persil and put cat bookies in the waving machine

Earlier this week DH asked me to pay a cheque in for him. Left the house locked the door, out of the gate, no cheque. Take two, out of the house with cheque, out the gate, still in my slippers. Take three made it out of the house with both cheque and shoes. I gripped the cheque and bank card in my hand, managed to get off the bus at the right stop, then walked right past the bank.

Searched high and low for the Avon catalogue which I eventually found in the top drawer of the freezer. DH and DD dined out on it for ages.

Thank you all for cheering me up - a friend is having a terrible time with family illness and I am so worried about her - and this thread made me laugh out loud. I should move the fridge from its place next to the dishwasher as I have lost count of the times I have tried to put dirty dishes in the first and the milk in the second.

Just as well I read this before posting - I'd put 2 fridges and no dishwasher...

I put things down and then spend ages going round the house searching for them - they were put in a safe place for later - obviously.
Then I forget what I'm saying in the middle of a ....
There really is no hope.
