Got to thinking just now - can we be kind about posters❓

With all this about meanness nowadays on social media how about a little experiment.

I’ve posted.

Can the next person up look at the post above them (about me, to start with) and try to say something nice about the one before? We do ALL have good qualities I’m certain......

It might make for an uplifting thread?

If you can’t (or don’t ‘know’ the poster above to you) leave it and wait. Come back later when you recognise a poster’s style.

Off we go. I’m waiting (in trepidation ha!)

I've always found Urmstongran's posts to be sensible and matter of fact. Most of all there is kindness running through her posts which can be very comforting to some posters. It's very rare that any scathing comments are found.

cornergran Sun 16-Feb-20 22:56:05

I hope it’s ok to add this. Although I don’t really ‘know’ nico I appreciate the sensitivity of her post on this thread and hope to hear more from her. It’s good to encourage kindness, thank you urmstrong for being brave enough to begin.

Of course I don't know cornergran or her posts really, but every time I see the name I think of the lovely lady who ran the corner shop at the end of our road. She was a gran too.

It was a sweetie shop and if I went in for thre-penceworth of 'spice', on a Saturday, usually my favourite coconut mushrooms, she'd weight them out, then pop in one extra or ask me to open my mouth and pop it in there grin

So lovely memories when I see that name smile

MawB Mon 17-Feb-20 04:03:43

BradfordLass brings much common sense and a great sense of humour to her posts.
She has more patience than I do!

rosecarmel Mon 17-Feb-20 04:32:25

Honest- smile

MawB Mon 17-Feb-20 04:53:31

Thank you sweetie- I might have guessed somebody would not be able to resist the urge to have a dig ?????????

Calendargirl Mon 17-Feb-20 04:55:42

Imagine MawB is quite a stylish lady, judging from her posts, and pictures of her clothes.

Grammaretto Mon 17-Feb-20 07:20:56

Calendargirl's posts show an organised mind and someone who's a keen observer. You think before you speak. Also a very early riser.

Dancinjay Mon 17-Feb-20 07:37:05

I am new to the group,so don't really know anyone, but Grammaretto and all the previous posters are showing thoughtfulness and kindness. Long may it continue. I love this thread.

Urmstongran Mon 17-Feb-20 07:54:50

That was nice of you (and in the right spirit of this thread Calendargirl) to go back to Maw. Thank you.

- when it’s ‘your turn’ to wait for somebody to say something nice it’s exciting to see who will post!

Plus we all get to share in appreciating the good characteristics of others.

Urmstongran Mon 17-Feb-20 07:56:36

As Dancinjay is new - welcome ? newbie! - anyone can restart the thread now.

Urmstongran Mon 17-Feb-20 07:57:41

Oh no. It ought to be someone to say something lovely about Grammaretto please?

Jessity Mon 17-Feb-20 08:00:38

I always enjoy Urmstongran’s posts, interesting, informative, sometimes chime with my views, sometimes don’t, but then give me another viewpoint. Above all, always kind.

Brunette10 Mon 17-Feb-20 08:03:47

I have met Grammaretto and she is a very kind, intelligent and thoughtful lady. She should be proud of herself.

mary51 Mon 17-Feb-20 08:04:14

As you are above Urmstongran, I will probably repeat what others have said. I always find your posts kind and good humoured and sensible.

I don't post often but have been reading GN for a couple of years and I feel as if I almost know some of the people on here!
I was reading this on the phone in bed, but came through when I saw your name pop up again! (Easier to type on laptop in this room), though I could have said the same about all the others. smile

Marydoll Mon 17-Feb-20 08:05:06

Having met Grammaretto, a few times, I can tell you she is a lovely, talented lady. She makes me smile when I meet her.
Always upbeat, despite an ill husband she always has something kind to say on the Good Morning thread.

Newquay Mon 17-Feb-20 08:05:16

I always like to hear from Mumofmadboys. Seems “sensible” lady, family orientated and we share our Christian faith

Marydoll Mon 17-Feb-20 08:08:30

Brunette beat me too it! She too is a lovely lady, quiet and unassuming, the exact opposite of me!!! ?
We first met when I persuaded her to come to an Edinburgh meet up. I'm so glad I did.
Her family are her world, she gives so much of herself to them.

dragonfly46 Mon 17-Feb-20 08:11:15

I love *Marydoll’s sense of humour, her resilience and her kindness and thoughtfulness to others.

vena11 Mon 17-Feb-20 08:14:29

Dragonfly Is going through a lot at the moment but you never hear her complain and always has kind things to say to all.

GillS Mon 17-Feb-20 08:19:56

Marydoll I have only posted a couple of times so no one will know me, but I love reading your GM posts. You are such a lovely, kind lady and make many of us happy with your novellas, thank you.

Yiayia4 Mon 17-Feb-20 08:29:12

Marydoll such a kind thoughtful lady, she has so much ill health but always a kind word for others.

sodapop Mon 17-Feb-20 08:31:59
