I had my first child at 21 And loved every minute, even though I remember coming home from hospital after a week and thinking oh my goodness I hope I can do this, lol

I was 29, married at 20, but waited until I felt ready to start a family.

Lovetopaint037 Fri 28-Feb-20 10:50:48

Twenty-two and hadn’t a clue. Welcomed the health visitor with loads of questions and the words “thank goodness you are here”.

Chewbacca Fri 28-Feb-20 10:51:28

30. Married at 21 and like curly, waited until we were ready.

TrendyNannie6 Fri 28-Feb-20 10:55:40

Yes I also was married and waited until we were both ready to have a family, also had our next child two years later

Married at 21, first child at 24. Don’t think I was ready for the responsibility really, but had to get on with it. Made loads of mistakes with child rearing, but did my best. Sometimes I think I’d like to go back and do it ‘properly’ meaning with the benefit of hindsight. I loved and still love all three, that’s the key really I think.

Married at 27 ( but 4 days later I was 28) First child at 34, second at 38. I kept changing jobs and didn't think it was fair to take maternity leave until I had been there 2 years as an employee and 2 years as a partner when I finally settled.

I was 20 when l gave birth to my first daughter, l had married at 19 and was an only child.myself, and loved looking after babies. I had three daughters of my own by the time l was 25, but sadly the marriage did not last.

Like trendy nanny I thought 'I hope I can do this' but that was about my wedding! Like Chewbacca and Curly - married at 22 and waited until the mood took me. First child at 30.

M0nica Fri 28-Feb-20 11:05:28

Married at 24, first child at 28. Considered an elderly primagravida. I told my Health Visitor I thought it a good idea to delay having children until a reasonable time after I ceased to be one.

She looked at the waiting room full of, what seemed to be, pregnant teenagers (most) married, looked at me and said 'I wish more would.'

annsixty Fri 28-Feb-20 11:07:56

Married at 21, first child at 28, second at 32.
I felt ready then and was also ready to be a SAHM.
I loved those early years.
They are now 54 and 50.
What happened.?

Married at 22, had one and only child at 30. I wasn't sure whether I wanted children at all but eventually did. I loved him to bits, but I stopped at one.

paddyanne Fri 28-Feb-20 11:30:17

married at 21,miscarriage at 22 and the twin delivered at 23 ,she died.First child I brought home I was nearly 25 .
10 years later for my next surviving child

first pregnancy was failed contraception ,we had no intention of having babies for a long time ,Once you've lost one though it makes you long for another

SirChenjin Fri 28-Feb-20 11:37:18

Married at 26 and first baby at 28. Looking back on it I was so young - hadn’t done a lot of the things Id wanted to. It’s insane to think that my own DC are only a few years off that age, but they seem to want other things out of their twenties than marriage and babies which I’m pleased about.

1st. at 30, 2nd at 32. No paternity leave in those days! grin

29 and 31

Grandma70s Fri 28-Feb-20 11:46:49

Goodness me, weren’t you all young! I was still in education when many of you had your first child. I had my first at 31, second at 34. My DIL was 34 and 37.

Witzend Fri 28-Feb-20 11:47:28

Married at 25, 1st baby at 28 - and I was down in my notes as an ‘elderly’ primigravida!

God knows what they’d have thought about my dd1, who recently had no. 3 shortly before her 43rd birthday!

Esspee Fri 28-Feb-20 11:50:58

I was “elderly” - It stated that in black and white on my chart - at 28. ?

Witzend Fri 28-Feb-20 11:54:33

Just to add, when I had my first, I was quite a bit older than all the other mothers on the ward.
One was only 19, and at one point she said to me, ‘Goodness, I hope I look like you when I’m 28!’

Made me feel ancient!

GagaJo Fri 28-Feb-20 11:59:43

I was 20. Far too young. I was nowhere near ready and neither was my husband. Didn't have anymore because he didn't do any parenting and left it all to me, also because I found it so hard, which was probably due to my age.

It's totally different with my grandson. Comes completely naturally so I wonder if it was just down to being too young with my baby?

GagaJo Fri 28-Feb-20 12:00:41

Having said that, having a baby early means you have your independence back in your 40s.
