Jigsaw puzzles

We sent a lot to the charity shop before Christmas, I tried to order some last week, they were supposedly in stock but the payment wouldn't go through.

My husband was getting a bit grumpy so I dug out a jigsaw. Now be is calm and happy again. Works every time. I think I people fall into two categories. Those who love a jigsaw and those who hate them. I am of the later group, luckily he isn't.

He was helping his sister clear up and brought back a pile of them. Serendipity.

My DH is another resorting to jigsaws to while away the time. He has a few new ones to keep him busy. I’m not a fan, but will put the odd piece in here and there when passing (usually ones he has been searching for for ages, which makes him grumpy?!).

Mine is a puzzle of the Great Wave off Kanagawa. It is fiendish. Lots of white and cream completely plain pieces. Am slowly developing techniques. Might be finished by Christmas.

There are plenty for sale on eBay. Not sure when they will be delivered though.

I will have another try to locate some online.
There may be a couple in the attic but I have banned him from going up there pro tem.

Not a jigsaw but my husband dragged down a box from his bedroom cupboard yesterday - a combustion engine kit one of the kids bought him years ago which he never made. He's just finished it. Just wondering where we're going to put it now it's done

I started doing online jigsaws (jigidi.com) after someone on Gransnet mentioned them.

Because I use my tablet, I limit it to small or medium sized ones.
Not quite as satisfying as the real thing, but an easy way to waste while away half the day, and quite addictive if you start trying to complete them fast enough to top the leader table!

I second using Jigidi online.

I'm used to solving jigsaw puzzles for Geocaching though so am forever expecting the coordinates for the cache to pop up when I've completed the puzzle!

I was given a jigsaw for Mother's Day made from a beautiful photo of my two granddaughters. Unfortunately they are both wearing different shades of red/orange and the photo was taken in Autumn so has a back drop of red/orange leaves.

Feel I have to finish it as the girls want to see the finished article. (when we're allowed to see each other again)

It's driving me crazy!

I struggled yesterday to find any at all. We have about 8 that we have completed but since we take it in turns to do the sky we can redo them and do a different piece.
Sad but there it is.

I love a jigsaw, the busier the picture the better, I don't like 'chocolate box' cottages or ones with lots of sky.
I have about 20 in the spare bedroom. Reading previous posts it seems I will be redoing what I have.....again.

For those of you who like Jigidi, try the collages by annmc. They are mine! Though I haven't posted any for quite a while since my laptop broke. I can access Jigidi on my tablet, but my tablet will not support the programme that Jigidi needs that lets you make a picture into a jigsaw.
If you have an Android tablet there is an excellent app called Jigsaroid, which will convert any picture you download from the internet into a jigsaw. I use it a lot. I download pictures from Pinterest.

Have just looked on Amazon, and a few are back in stock (excluding the ones for sale by other sellers at ridiculous prices). I have ordered Gibson's 'See Through Nature', which has been on my wish list for a while. Arriving Friday!

If any of you have charity jigsaw festivals nearby, please consider donating your finished jigsaws to them. Surprisingly, people will pay a lot more for a jigsaw they’ve seen completed. The festivals are sometimes specific about what sort they want, but will have a website or contact you can check with. I have seven or eight sitting on a spare bed waiting for my chance to hand them in after lockdown. If one of us doesn’t manage to knock them on the floor first, as I’ve run out of cling film.

Some of the Falcon and Ravensburger jigsaws are now in stock on Amazon as well. A lot of the Ravensburger ones are coming in mid April. Excluding the ones sold by private individuals at silly prices. I saw one at £121, how ridiculous is that? Profiteering comes to mind.
I ordered the Gibson's one at 8 o'clock tonight, despatched at 8.45. !!

I got two Wentworth wooden jigsaw puzzles for my grandchildren for Christmas.

They are quite tricky because the pieces are unusual shapes - and there are some "novelty" shapes within the puzzles too. Some of the pictures are beautiful.

Children need a bit of help with them but I think most adults would find them fairly challenging but not too much so. Quite expensive, but worth it I think.

I have puzzle crown app on my tablet they have quite a variety of puzzles and sizes. They are downloaded on line but once started can be completed off line

I have tried some of the apps including Puzzle Crown. The trouble with them is they only give you a few free puzzles to start with, and you have to earn points by doing ones you don't like, in order to get new ones.
I do use Jigsaroid, as mentioned above. I download pictures from Pinterest and turn them into jigsaws with the app. so I only get pictures I like.
I much prefer doing 1000 piece puzzles on a board.

I've got an ipad and I do the free daily jigsaw every day without fail. Last week they released a pack of 40 which was also free. Can't really have more than 300 pieces but it keeps me happy.
