Hello the new kitchen looking nice and warm and cosy love the new cushions appreciate the goodies on offer. If anyone makes sticky ginger cake I’d love a slice with my afternoon tea ☕️ Have a good day everyone.

soop Tue 28-Apr-20 12:36:02

Lovely to see you, tanith. Your wish is our command. The sticky ginger cake has your name on it. I remember we enjoyed the stickiest of ginger cake in a lovely hotel in the highlands of Scotland. It was served topped with real creamy butter. I seem to remember that it was far from calorie-free. grin

Hello Soop and all kitcheners, it’s been quite a while since I popped in but have just had a quick look in the door, and saw your fabulous sunset photos. Beautiful.
What with all the cake which thank goodness is all calorie free it’s definitely the place to be.
Take care out there folks.

soop Tue 28-Apr-20 13:08:21

A warm welcome back, silverlining48 What have you been up to? Please continue to keep us company.

Daisyboots Tue 28-Apr-20 13:16:07

Found you.
I’m afraid my Cunard recipe scones won’t be ready until tomorrow as my Ocado delivery with flour and clotted cream doesn’t come until this evening.
Please remember that when they are served it must be by white jacketed waiters weary white gloves?

Galen Tue 28-Apr-20 13:17:47

Wearing not weary

Smileless2012 Tue 28-Apr-20 13:20:34

The new kitchen looks great soop. Love the yellow tiles, they make it look as if the sun is shining on the inside sunshine.

Freshly baked cheese scones and cheese straws plus a couple of bottles of bubbles to celebrategrin.

If you fancy a break by the sea when this is all over Susan you're more than welcome to stay, we have bags of room.

Love the lollipop tree Carillion that would look fab on our roof terrace, you know if you ever get bored with it and want to find a new homehmm.

We had a lovely start to the day. The door bell rang at 9.00 am and when Mr. S. opened it, there was a beautiful Orchid from our lovely girls next door, because they're missing us.

Kindness goes such a long way doesn't it and with so much here in the kitchen, there's no better place to be.

silverlining48 Tue 28-Apr-20 13:35:33

Soop Thank you for the kind welcome, i havnt been far, am staying close to home these days, arent we all, but while the weather has been so kind have spent a lot of time in the garden.
Its been raining hard here in the south east so i need to start on my indoor jobs to do list. So much to do, so much time to do it.
I know you are all excellent bakers and I have to shyly admit I am not, but for the first time I recently purchased a couple of ready mix cakes with nice pictures on the front of the box so might have a go later, ( cant go wrong can it?). It might even be ready in time for afternoon tea in your friendly kitchen. Lemon or carrot?

Susan56 Tue 28-Apr-20 13:38:05

Hello Soop and all in the new kitchen.
Smileless?that would be lovely.x
We have had a delivery from the local deli today. We have gone from famine to feast as I dusted off my apron and did lots of baking yesterday forgetting about the treats we had ordered to be delivered today. Will leave a plate of assorted cakes and tiffin on the side.

Smileless The lovely girls next door have made you smile. Their kind gesture has reaped it's own reward.

Galen In the absense of white jacketed and gloved waiters...you may be asked to do the honours. If so...pearls must be worn. Standards! Must not let the side down.

Daisyboots I would love to be able to say that I'm always well updated. It would be a blatant lie. This lot when motivated, are turbo-charged.

This afternoon I will be sitting in our car, in the medical practice car park, having bloods taken. Bloods will be sent on to Oban hospital first thing tomorrow. When I attend the Lochgilphead hosp on Thursday, the results will be known ahead of the Zoledronic acid infusion. It has been a somewhate circuitous route leading up to the infusion. I've received nothing through the post. Oncologist rang from Glasgow and confirmed that the appointment would go ahead. A garbled phone message was left several days ago and I rang the number (several times). No response. I then rang the main desk. Spoke to a very helpful lady who said that she'd look into matters. She has phoned me three times. My name is on the list but no time is noted. Yet again, I'm awaiting confirmation from the hospital pharmacist. She is expecting me. She doesn't have a time. And so the saga continues...

soop Tue 28-Apr-20 13:52:05

silverlinings Best do both lemon and carrot. Best be on the safe side. wink I'm looking forward to a wet day. Stuff to do aboot the hoos. Far too nice outdoors right now.

Dear Susan our kitchen party buffet is beginning to look very tempting. Bowls of spring flowers adorn the starched linen cloth. Jugs of refreshing cordial (for some) and a variety of wine and spirits (for others]. Even though I say so myself...it's all looking proper classy.

Doodle Tue 28-Apr-20 13:53:55

Hello new kitchen. How lovely and sparkly you look. Did I hear you mention tartan rugs on the old thread soop? We might need those it’s cold and wet here.
Thank you for the goodies everyone and nice to see you all here.
Take care on your trip out soop. Tell us what the outside world is like when you get back.?
galen those scones sound nice. Can’t you send a Gary round in his waiters uniform to serve them for us ?

soop Tue 28-Apr-20 13:55:13

Last night's late sky was colourful and tranquil.

Carillion01 Tue 28-Apr-20 13:57:00

Smileless, I would love to send you a cutting from the 'lollipop' tree if I could. It's lovely and green and cream but when it's leaves turn pink at the edges I know it needs it's haircut! ?

Dear soop another lovely kitchen ? ? ?

soop Tue 28-Apr-20 13:57:20

Doodle How could I forget the amazing Gary? Shame on me.
Five weeks plus of lockdown. MacSporran is about to check that the car will start.

Carillion01 Tue 28-Apr-20 13:57:39

Ahhh! That sunset. xxxx

soop Tue 28-Apr-20 14:00:13

Carillion I may do some research re the lollipop tree. When life returns to something akin to more normal, I may buy one for our garden. I may have just the spot for it. What is it's proper name?

Grandmafrench Tue 28-Apr-20 14:01:54

Two reasonably unpleasant days for you then, Soop. Maybe it will give you an excuse for a bit of a sit down? No? Well, I tried. Joking aside, take care and we (that's not the royal 'we', that's speaking for all Kitcheners near and far) wish you everything positive and successful following this week's little outings for all things medical. x

Wonderful new kitchen. The standards are very high, though I worry slightly about ruling for white-jacketed waiters (isn't MacS fairly busy at the mo' ?). Still, I do have some lovely pearls. Heaven knows how you keep up with the refurbishment and decoration, but we won't delve into that too much. We'll just keep the refreshments coming. Today I can offer home-made Tortillas and some delicious cold Rosé.

Red hot sunshine this afternoon bleaching my bed linen on the line. Last night, thunder, lightning, shouting frogs and rain fit to beat the band. It's getting quite amusing here, this totally inappropriate weather. As I said/shouted to DH, "I didn't move all the way down here for this nonsense". The dogs nodded sagely whilst holding their paws over their ears!

Never commented on your pretty poppies, Carillion. So pretty, we had all colours in Normandy. They were mostly self-seeded and I used to look forward to their popping up all over the place at this time of year. You had an Orchid delivery, Smileless? Well, don't get over-excited.....that would only be because you're a lovely person, I should imagine. grin.

And finally.........is everyone feeling better, less bruised, battered and generally dropped from a great height today? Do hope so. Homes and gardens can be dangerous places. Take care all. flowers

soop Tue 28-Apr-20 14:02:43

Now that we've a new kitchen, I feel happy to leave the computer for a while. It would worry me if you had no place to loll and chat. I shall return after the car park consultation. That will be at the close of the afternoon. smile

soop Tue 28-Apr-20 14:04:54

Will catch up with you later, Grandmafrench. Our posts crossed just as I about to disappear for a wee while. sunshine

I'll put the kettle on and try to avoid the goodies as my clothes have shrunk in the wardrobe recently.
