... before you look in the mirror?

(I just don't understand why there's always this old woman of 72 looking back at me. In my head I'm always 35!

Same here, but today I had a zoom business call for the first time and put on my make-up, did my hair, covered my greying roots and looked and felt a lot younger and and more confident until it actually came to using the technology, then I felt my age!!.

lemongrove Wed 03-Jun-20 11:42:07

I don’t feel as young as 35 ( even my adult children are older than that)? but I probably feel about mid fifties if I’m being honest.Until, as you say, you see yourself in the mirror ( and your Grandma is looking back at you.)

Various parts of me seem to have a different age from the other bits, depending on the 'creak' test!

Lexisgranny Wed 03-Jun-20 11:55:23

Some days feel about 50, The rest of the time 90+. Actual age 77. Do wish there was a means of gathering skin together on top of my head and giving a good pull to get rid of everything that has sagged, though I am not really overweight. I would be willing to cover the surplus with hair like a bun. My mother and grandmother looked far better at the same age which is depressing.

the top part of me is in my late 40's early 50's
the bottom part of me is well past my sell by date! I look at my legs and think 'they're my nan's'!!!!

CraftyGranny Wed 03-Jun-20 12:05:22

I must have a magic mirror. That is definitely not me staring back.

BBbevan Wed 03-Jun-20 13:55:42

I am 75. Not too bad, but my knees have started to look quite old. All other bits working reasonably well.

BlueSky Wed 03-Jun-20 14:06:03

I feel no different from when I was 17. When I look in the mirror I'm surprised not to see an unlined fresh plump face...

PinkCakes Wed 03-Jun-20 14:07:08

I'm 61 but much younger in my head! I haven't got many wrinkles, but my decolletage (is that the bit below the neck but above the bust?) is really wrinkly. I might have to start wearing polo neck jumpers! Anyone got any advice on what to do about that area?

Barmeyoldbat Wed 03-Jun-20 14:16:13

I am 73, feel about 45, body works at about late sixties. No wrinkles on my face but have wrinkly arms and hate them but haven't got bat wings. No wrinkles on my décolletage yet (same bit as you Pinkcakes) and my hands are showing my age.

lemsip Wed 03-Jun-20 14:17:03

and sometimes you pass a really cruel mirror! I've only recently got a video phone and have to make sure I'm smiling all the time when on a call to my family as I am shocked at the picture otherwise! lol. fortunatley I am very phisically fit and able

sodapop Wed 03-Jun-20 16:22:16

My granddaughter is 30 lemongrove now that is scary smile

Same here Barmeyoldbat no bingo wings or wrinkled chest but my hands have not aged well and as for the veins on my legs - words fail me.

Moggycuddler Thu 04-Jun-20 09:14:16

I'm 63 and creaky but in my head I'm often still a daft teenager.

annecordelia Thu 04-Jun-20 09:22:23

I still feel about 17 to be honest. I still like motorbikes and heavy metal music. Then I look in the mirror and see my almost 59 year old face!

Aepgirl Thu 04-Jun-20 09:23:23

It’s so sad that no matter how well we look after our skin and hair, most of us would never be able to afford, or want to, have regular Botox, fillers, face lifts, etc. I think that is why we consider we look old - because the ‘celebs’ all look so young. Look at Amanda Holden - she looks years younger now than she did 10 years ago, and Cherry Healey has Botox regularly at the age of 39.

travelsafar Thu 04-Jun-20 09:30:53

It depends on which mirror I look in!! lol. The bathroom one is very kind, the one in my bedroom not so, it shows my face in broad daylight, wrinkles, open pores and general aging. I am nearly 68 but feel much younger in my mind, my body sometimes feels like it is 10 years older due to aches and pains.

Teddy123 Thu 04-Jun-20 09:34:35

Too late at 73 to worry about all the sunbathing I did. Worst thing for the skin.
But I scrub up well.

Sparklefairydust Thu 04-Jun-20 09:35:30

I'm only 15 but when I look in the mirror my Gran looks back!

P3terpan Thu 04-Jun-20 09:41:54

Well I’m 67 today but I still feel in my 20s till I look in the mirror.

Taliya Thu 04-Jun-20 09:42:18

If you look at some celebrities in their 50s they look.15 years younger due to botox, fillers, cosmetic surgery . If done well, all these can make you look a lot better. Celebrities need to do this , especially women , as they make money from how they look. Lots of exercise also staves off flabby fatty arms... If you have a younger attitude to life I think this shows in your face also, even without botox etc.

henetha Thu 04-Jun-20 09:48:10

When I get up in the morning I definitely feel my age, 82,
But after a cup of tea, a few stretching exercises, slap on a bit of tinted moisturiser and mascara, I then feel about 20 years younger, most days. And in my head I'm just as mixed up as I was in my twenties/thirties.

MarieEliza Thu 04-Jun-20 09:54:48

I avoid mirrors ?

BBkay Thu 04-Jun-20 09:56:25

I'm 64, in my head maybe 54, in the mirror 84 on a good day ?

Megs36 Thu 04-Jun-20 09:57:52

Decided to put my hair in rollers....looked in the mirror and saw my mum looking back!!
