My Peculiar Home Habits

I think I must have spent too long by myself in lockdown because I am starting to notice things like I have a favourite hob (bottom left), double light switches have to be facing the same way and I really don't like towels overlapping each other on the rail!

Is it just me? Surely I can’t be the only one with these strange idiosyncrasies? ?

Jane10 Mon 29-Jun-20 20:07:28

Nope. These all seem perfectly fine to me. Also don't forget to rotate your use of plates and mugs so they are all used and you don't hurt any of their feelings.

?

I hurt mugs feelings because I have favourites. Some of the others do have their own special place in the cupboard though, the rest don’t get used ??

Some of my things are starting to annoy me. Just looking at them irritates me. Those 2 vases will have to go soon. Can't wait for charity shops to open.

ginny Mon 29-Jun-20 20:33:37

I found myself apologising to a vase this morning. Told it that I couldn’t use it as it was too wide but it would get a turn soon.
Also had a good chat with my sewing machine.

Beechnut Mon 29-Jun-20 20:34:51

Look at our post timings LadyBella. We couldn’t have done that if we’d tried ?

sodapop Mon 29-Jun-20 21:19:06

I rotate plates as well Jane10 I use a different mug each day so they are rotated as well. If only I could get out more smile

I've got depressing pants. I just look at them and feel down. Nothing wrong with them. No excuse to chuck them.

lemongrove Mon 29-Jun-20 21:26:37

Just down feel down them when you are out in public Jane?

lemongrove Mon 29-Jun-20 21:28:07

Is it normal to check if the door is locked four times??

MissAdventure Mon 29-Jun-20 21:52:05

I talk to things in my house.
The vacuum, the ironing board.

lemongrove Mon 29-Jun-20 21:57:05

What do you say to them? More importantly, what do they answer?

Calendargirl Mon 29-Jun-20 21:59:52

I check the door several times, after tea, before I shower, when I make the evening milky drink, before I go to bed.
Why?
I know it’s locked!

?‍♀️?

Dollymc2 Mon 29-Jun-20 21:59:54

I am becoming obsessed with drying the sink, I can't bear to see drops of water on it, but everyone does this, no?
I am copiously buying Fabulosa, in its varying fragrances
The stairs benefit from spraying with Zoflora and a squeegee every week
But no, other than that I'm not at all neurotic ?

MissAdventure Mon 29-Jun-20 22:02:03

I just make polite conversation really.
Give them a bit of reassurance, sort of thing.

GagaJo Mon 29-Jun-20 22:03:40

I'd say by my neighbour's standards you're positively dilatory lemongrove. He has a ritual of checking his backdoor handle at night that involves him repeatedly rattling it for a minimum of five minutes. I can hear it wherever I am in my house, he does it so loudly. I'm surprised he doesn't have to replace it at least once a year, given how forcefully he does it.

gillybob Mon 29-Jun-20 22:06:57

I do too MissA I often have a running commentary going through the house (as though I’m talking to a studio audience). I think it’s because I don’t get much in the way of conversation or else I’m barking mad . hmm

Grammaretto Mon 29-Jun-20 22:07:25

I think you are all MAD!!
I have been listening to the story of blood groups and you must all be blood group A.
www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/w3cszv5t

Apparently in Japan you have to put your blood group on your CV for a job application.
As are meticulous.

lemongrove Mon 29-Jun-20 22:08:05

That made me laugh Gaga? Am not at that point as yet.
The strange thing is, it’s only the back door that I check, the other doors could be unlocked or even open as I rarely check them at all.No doubt Freud would have a field day with it.

lemongrove Mon 29-Jun-20 22:09:00

Funny you should say that Grammaretto ☺️

Lexisgranny Mon 29-Jun-20 22:21:56

Blister strips of tablets have to be trimmed down when tablets have been removed. Labels have to be to the front in food cupboards. Clothes in my wardrobe have to be grouped by colour. When I play patience and for example, I have a stack headed by a queen with cards going down to the ace, and I take half the cards away to complete another stack, I feel guilty. No I don’t think any of your habits are strange, they all seem perfectly normal to me. (I don’t worry about doors being locked, my husband checks them —several— umpteen times).

Lexisgranny Mon 29-Jun-20 22:23:30

Sorry haven’t got the hang of strike through, and do you know looking at my post is really annoying me!

Susan56 Mon 29-Jun-20 22:25:34

I prefer top right hob but am with you on the double light switches youngerthan!!

annep1 Mon 29-Jun-20 22:42:44

Even though I can see the knobs on my gas hob are all switched off I have to twiddle each one to double check before going to bed.
