Good morning Mick. You are early this morning! You seem to be settling back into your old routines.
Sunny in Suffolk so far and we may remain dry all day or perhaps get some showers later.
Lots of jobs to carry on with, so we won’t going be out today.
Have a good day everyone.

Pantglas2 Fri 03-Jul-20 06:20:11

Morning Mick from a damp north Wales where I’ve been up awhile with the chamberpot (of tea ☕️)!

More cleaning today and fishnchips for supper from our favourite chippy in Conwy so no more cooking for me til I get to Spain and I shan’t do any there for the first few days - I’ll be going native with tostada con tomate y jamon for brunch and lots of tapas in the evenings - can’t wait ?

Have a lovely day everyone and hope those under the weather have a better day?

cornergran Fri 03-Jul-20 06:33:41

Morning Mick, morning All. Gloomy, grey start to our corner of Somerset, rain and wind forecast so a day indoors. Grocery delivery this morning then I’ll be sorting photos on the computer and chatting to friends on the phone. With luck Mr C will (finally) finish his jigsaw, would like to reclaim the table. Could be more than slightly envious of travel to sunshine pantglas, safe trip and enjoy every moment. Take care everyone, be gentle with yourselves.

Good morning all from Malta where it’s another beautiful day.

Went to the hairdresser yesterday. There was one other lady there and I got a fit of the giggles as it just looked so incongruous with the three of us (including the hairdresser) wearing masks as though we’d done it all our lives! It has become the norm now.

No plans today other than to pop to the Post Office, and also go to buy some new plants to replace the latest ones I have killed. I really have got the opposite of green fingers.

Hope you all have the best day possible.☀️

grandMattie Fri 03-Jul-20 06:35:19

Good morning all from a clear E Kent. Clouds forecast. It rained yesterday, yay!
Mick, I hope you manage that elusive cup of coffee. Pant, when are you going and donde esta tu casa?
Seeing DGS for the second time this year.? He only lives 30 minutes away, he's coming to see his beloved uncle. Give the poor boy some fun in these trying time.

Scentia Fri 03-Jul-20 06:46:22

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. A little grey out there today but rain is on its way.
Pantglass Enjoy your time in Spain
I am ‘working’ from home today so may try the garden again as yesterday afternoon was a wash out.
I was up extra early finishing n essay for my NVQ as the deadline is today, it is a course in children’s mental health. All finished now so I will await my results.
There is a big local football derby tomorrow, the day the pubs open and as usual the media are winding everyone up. It is usually a day of some trouble but I think tomorrow will be extra difficult for the emergency services. Honestly I really cannot see how it will work if pubs are showing matches?
Hope you all have the best day possible today. Marydoll I hope it is not too long before you start to feel better and benefit from your new treatment.

Nannytopsy Fri 03-Jul-20 06:46:26

Bon voyage Pantglas! We will all be jealous of you and Urmstongran!

Sar53 Fri 03-Jul-20 06:53:46

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea.
DH is off to the butchers later to stock up on meat for the freezer. We ordered a new computer and printer yesterday so hopefully will be able to collect them and get them set up and working.
Nothing else planned today.
Have a lovely day and stay safe xx

Pittcity Fri 03-Jul-20 06:57:14

Good morning from sunny Colchester.
Up early as expecting deliveries and car is being collected for a service. I don't want to be in the shower when they knock.
Weekend shop and change beds. Then a restful day as we have a busy weekend.

Urmstongran Fri 03-Jul-20 06:59:18

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga ?

Yesterday was SO hot. A plume of air from the Sahara had the temperature shoot up to 39°C ?? Too hot. Even the breeze (what there was) wasn’t cooling as only warm air wafted around. Someone said that up in the campo it was 50°C!
?

We didn’t leave the apartment until 8pm when we just went down to eat at Juan & Maria’s bar. As we were eating, Himself looked up at one stage and exclaimed ‘bluddy hell, look who’s here!’.

It was a couple from Manchester who own an apartment round the corner from us. They are both early 50’s and work as nurses in the ICU at Wythenshawe Hospital. They’d been working extra shifts these last few awful months. I said ‘I bet you’re both exhausted’ and he said ‘yes but proud too of what everyone had achieved really’.

Her mum lives in our block and this was a surprise visit for a month! They rang her and I heard him say ‘guess where we are?’’ Ten minutes later she was down and burst into tears when she saw them. Aw, lovely!

The palm trees are dancing this morning in the warm wind. Not sure if we fancy the beach or not. I’ll look at the temperature forecast and decide later!
??

Be prepared Pantglas!! have a good flight. Do you pick up a hire car at Malaga airport to travel to your place?

Hope Friday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

brook2704 Fri 03-Jul-20 07:17:38

Good morning everyone from Inverness. It’s raining just now but I can report that yesterday turned out dry and sunny and even a bit warm in the sunshine. My friend who I usually meet for coffee in town came to the garden and we spent a lovely afternoon chatting.
Pantglas how lucky are you !! I could really do with some of that Spanish sunshine and how lovely for your friends urmstongran to get away on holiday and do a surprise visit too
Fingers and toes crossed for your NVQ results scentia
Not much planned for me today except a Tesco trip, I hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all if you’re out and about ?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 03-Jul-20 07:26:51

Good morning Mick and all x

It's cloudy here in S E Essex, might have to tackle some ironing!!!!

I met up with 6 friends yesterday (yes I know one over the guidelines but one friend came along unexpectedly) at one of their houses, she had prepared for the rain so we kept dry. It was odd to all be 2M apart but so lovely to actually chat away in person. We were somewhat noisy!

Keep safe and well folks, don't do anything silly on super Saturday English Gransnetters ?

Safe journey Pantglass

Puzzler61 Fri 03-Jul-20 07:27:57

Good morning Mick and all from Worcs. Sky is mostly grey but the sun isn’t far behind the clouds so I hope it will break through.
We’re planning to go for a walk in the woods this afternoon - will have waterproofs with us in case of the wet stuff ?

Pants 1 sleep till your holiday! Hope the journey is a smooth one - let us know what socially distanced flying is like please. Keep in touch. Have you ordered ahead for your tomate thingy which is probably delicious (though I don’t know what it is)?

Wishing everyone else a Fab Friday. It’s a term we used at work for Fridays when we went to the pub at lunchtime for “team bonding” sessions ?
?

grandMattie Fri 03-Jul-20 07:33:13

Puzzler, it’s tomato and (air dried) ham on toasted bread. ? yum.

Mythbirtthedragon Fri 03-Jul-20 07:41:46

Good morning from east London, cloudy and dry to start. Hope it’s not as changeable as yesterday; we got rather damp on a walk out with DD and the GDs which nobody minded as DG1 has finally got confident on on her bike on 2 wheels and is so happy with herself. She’s been trying since last year but wasn’t certain so I suggested last week she try on her old, smaller bike which she’d found in our garden shed. Result ! DP and DD got a good bit of jogging in while I was chief buggy- pusher; don’t fancy taking that round the scramble course which GD1 now has her eye on. Coach and play tennis this morning and who knows what after.
Have a good day.

Ginny42 Fri 03-Jul-20 07:55:22

Good morning Mick and everyone from a windy and rainy Cheshire. I'm later as I decided, quite illogically, to repack a parcel going by courier to my DD and DGS for their birthdays this month. I suddenly thought the lacy dress would be better on top of the books not beneath them. As if the courier is going to take care that my parcel is the right way up for over 2.000 miles! She had ordered bedding to be sent which weighs a ton too. Will the chocolate buttons melt? He just loves white chocolate. Anyway it's ready for collection.

I'm envious of your trip too Pantglas2. Enjoy it, you've waited a long time. I'm waiting a little while longer, but it's very tempting now.

Warm wishes to all who are unwell, or feeling low. flowers

Blinking rain! I'm hoping to get out in the woods in an hour or so, but it's started again.

gillybob Fri 03-Jul-20 07:56:13

Good morning from the NE coast where we have yet another damp, grey and miserable day. It’s as though summer has deserted us .

So envy of you heading off to the sunshine to join Urms , Pantglas . I can almost taste the tapas washed down with a few glasses of Rioja . Have a wonderful time. smile

I will be picking little Evie Button up around mid morning and have her until around 8pm when I shall get her all ready for bed and take her home. My DD will just lift her into her bed as she will almost definitely fall asleep in the car . Normally when my DD does a later shift I would have just kept her here overnight but things are not quite back to normal are they?

My DD is dreading the pub across the road to her opening tomorrow as we can almost guarantee that there will be trouble . I am going over there tomorrow as I know she is really anxious about it . The whole mess hasn’t been thought out properly and it’s as though pubs think they can do what they like as far as outside seating goes .

Just nipping up to “that place” to see if there’s anything left in the skip outside . I suspect that it will have been well and truly explored overnight . I wish they would just come and get it but They say it will be next week .

I wish my little Friday Girl was ready to show her face but it just doesn’t seem right when everything is so topsy turvy .

Have as good a Friday as possible everyone. Still thinking about BlueSapphire and all our missing friends . Hoping for some good news about CrazyH’s grandson too (another thread I know) .
Love Gillybob x

Good morning from a sunny , calm Suffolk coast. I hope we don’t get rain as my DB and SIL are coming for the day. They have quite a journey, so hopefully we will be able to have lunch in the garden and a little walk along the beach.

Have a pleasant day all ?

kittylester Fri 03-Jul-20 08:01:08

Morning all from a blowy but dry North Leicestershire.

We have an appointment at the dump this morning. I can hardly contain my excitement.

scentia we are close to the two football clubs and our village is fairly lively when there are Derbys on the pub tvs. Luckily, none of our pubs are opening because of our proximity to Leicester. Our lounge will be fairly lively regardless as DH is an ardent Forest Supporter!

Grandmafrench Fri 03-Jul-20 08:08:11

Good Morning everyone on yet another superb day. Hot, sunny and deep azure blue skies. Without any breeze in the garden, I can hear the sea.

Miracle Gro-ing all the pots and making sure everything has a good drink. The plants have had nothing to drink since last night, so by the time we return from shopping they’ll be showing their displeasure from the heat.....them and us, probably.

There’s a wonderful little Humming Bird Hawk Moth amongst the butterflies on the Buddleia today. I find it impossible not to see a tiny bird when I look at them - can see why birds might be fooled. Have seen them now in the UK in hot weather - the only true moth that feeds in the daytime.

Bet you’re thrilled to be going at last to your home in the sun, Pantglas Don’t forget the sunscreen .... or your masks .....and have the best time (lolling a’beach, maybe.!?) grin

Early start needed in the heat for me. I’m away to the shower and then the shops.....well, one big shop with air conditioning!

If you’re feeling under the weather or in pain, I wish you a better day today. Otherwise, have yourselves a good day everyone and enjoy it. Maybe this will be a Friday Girl Friday? Gilly ?

Hugs from ?????? To all. x

Morning Mick and all from a verrrrrrry wet Glasgow.
However, it could have got even wetter. I heard what I thought was torrential rain during the night,, it was not. DH had left the bathroom tap running! He has of course, denied it was him!. ?

After being on a downer yesterday, the day turned out to be a very pleasant one.
I had just finished my lunch, when my neighbour phoned across to say that she and my other friend were going for a walk, did I feel up to going with them? The plan was to keep to the two metre rule, go over the field and explore the huge derelict factory site, which had been my friend's place of work, before her marriage.
I jumped at the chance, as I haven't felt up to going out for days.

They couldn't believe the irresponsible difficult route DH and I took the other week and showed me the gentler one. My friend spent ages, trying to work out where her office had been. I discovered loads of bramble bushes, wild raspberries and quite a few wildflowers. Poor DH hasn't realised yet, he will be going bramble picking in the Autumn.?
The best part, they walked at a slow pace, I could manage, unlike DHs sprint wink
My friend took a picture of me in the undergrowth as a train roared past high above my head. I was going to post it, but I didn't recognize that wee, dumpy and frumpy wifie, who looked very much like my late mother. It certainly wasn't me! ?

The plan was to find the shortcut under the railway which would take us to the school our grandchildren are starting in August. It takes over 30 minutes to walk there, but ten at the most over the field. My friend doesn't drive and I can't help, as I don't have an extra car seat.
The area is so vast and overgrown with bushes and trees , we still haven't found the shortcut. That adventure is for another day.

Just before dinner, my DD and her fiance unexpectedly arrived with the wood for raised vegetable beds I couldn't get delivered. They are very thoughtful.
I have wanted to do it for a few years, but DH kept putting me off.
The day was was completed to perfection. We heard a banging at the back door and a fishwife could be heard shouting, Gran and papa, where are you? It's me!!. My son had made yet another surprise visit with my wee DGD. I wept tears of joy!
Life at that moment, couldn't be better.

In my dream last night, I received a gold, embossed certificate from Kittylester. I haven't a clue ? what it was for, but thanks anyway, * Kitty!* ?

Safe journey tomorrow Pantglas and Scentia I bet you are glad you have finished your assignment.

Take care everyone, especially Bluesapphire, who I hope is feeling a little better. ?

Morning All

Overcast now after a sunny start here in the north of Norfolk.

I’ve had a wildlife morning! There was a hedgehog pootling around the garden when I came down at half past six. Nice to see as we’d suspected there was one around, but concerning that it was still about so late (for hedgehogs). I shall scatter some mealworms and casters from DH’s fishing trip this evening around the hog hole in the fence.

Then I found a young sparrow stranded in the little bird bathing pond. Left it under a bush with a few seeds and broken meal worms. It went to sleep but was gone half an hour later and so was the food so hopefully its ok.

And the blackbirds in the bush by the house have this morning just launched their_third_ brood - just as the tiny frogs are leaving the pond. I think they’ll ensure we don’t have a plague of frogs!

Although we’re fairly well into town and many gardens are tiny, three of us in a row moved in within the last ten years taking over from families with children. They had no time for gardening but we’re all of a certain age and promptly all dug up the grass and planted bushes and flowers. It’s amazing the difference its made!

NfkDumpling Fri 03-Jul-20 08:12:41

(Is that the view from your garden Ginster?)

Good Morning to all and to those who follow on this very dreech day in Fife. It's just miserable once again, doesn't help to lift the mood sad. Anyway enjoyed our little trip out yesterday albeit a short one but had time to enjoy a little run in our new car bought in March but hardly turned a wheel. It was very pleasant. Marydoll glad your day turned out good for you it would lift your spirits quite bit I would imagine. Pantglas2 -safe journey and enjoy! Some more lifting restrictions here in Scotland as from today so it's getting there slowly but surely. Try and enjoy your day everyone - keep your chin up.
