I love them so much I actually have 3 of them. DH asked what I'd like for Christmas and I said I'd maybe like one in navy. He then tells me he actually doesn't like my big pom pom wooly hats and said they are made for people in their teens. What do you think?

Take no notice of him and wear what you like. It doesn't matter what others think if it makes you happy.

as long as the big pompoms are not made our of fur - I hope.

EthelTheTank Fri 23-Oct-20 23:11:08

Oh no, they aren't real fur.

I think they are for small children and snowmen.

I asked my sister for one last Christmas. As she gave it to me she said "I've bought you what you asked for, but in my opinion nobody over the age of seven should wear a bobble hat".
I've never worn it.

Yes this is for real

EthelTheTank Fri 23-Oct-20 23:22:19

I've got a lovely white one, a nice grey one and a mustard one.

Crikey - second childhood? Harmless, I suppose.

MissAdventure Fri 23-Oct-20 23:30:59

I've seen plenty of adults in them.
I like the ones with 2 big pompoms, so they look a bit like ears. smile

Haha! When I lived in Scotland it was quite a thing to have the biggest pom-poms on your woolly hat! This was mainly for little girls 5 and under though ??

MissAdventure Fri 23-Oct-20 23:39:37

People in Scotland seem much more at ease with hats, I think.

Aye, it is. smile
Beautiful though.

ethelthetank I don’t see anything wrong if you love them but you really don’t need anyone else to confirm this for you
You wear what you enjoy wearing ?

MayBee70 Sat 24-Oct-20 00:02:49

I think they’re just very Scandinavian and suitable for any age. Don’t skiers wear them a lot? Which reminds me I’ve got an Arran bobble hat somewhere: might dig it out. Might be a bit itchy though.

Marydoll Sat 24-Oct-20 00:09:19

Each to his/her own. However you wouldn't catch me wearing one!
No offence intended Ethel, but they make me look like a very old lady! sad

Feelingmyage55 Sat 24-Oct-20 00:11:54

Here in the north of Scotland all ages wear them. I have lots of woolly hats, line with fleece. I don’t have the furry Pom ppm hats but I might ask for one for Christmas. They are fun. The main things about a good winter hat is for it to pull down over the ears which also means it won’t blow off in the gales - the ones that would be reported in England as extreme weather. My Daughter has just said I’d be easier to spot with the pom-poms when we get separated shopping together. Another reason to get one. ?

MayBee70. Skiers mostly wear helmets now in every colour under the sun.

Marydoll Sat 24-Oct-20 00:15:17

Feelingmyage55, I do wear hats, I would be daft not to, but never with pom poms. Mind you, they could add a few inches to my height, if I ever got lost in a crowd! wink
