It was brilliant grin The underwire just cupped her chin nicely. A lovely shade of rose pink with brown lace. Genius. Have you seen any innovative masks?

Spangler Wed 28-Oct-20 22:05:25

Well I wouldn't say innovative, but.............

A thong wouldn’t be much use either

I doubt the whole thing was lace, probably just a lace trim. The OP said "A lovely shade of rose pink with brown lace".

During lockdown in April, after weeks of isolation, cabin fever had set in. I opened my undies drawer and it struck me that the black M&S bra looked like 2 masks. I thought I’d experiment with it and take a photo of myself and text it to my AC to give them a laugh. I didn’t want to cut it up so fitted one cup perfectly on my face and wrapped the rest of the bra round the back with the other cup forming a silly little hat on top of my head.

Just as I took the photo my phone rang and it was my daughter and children on FaceTime. I rushed to pull off the bra as I looked like something from a horror movie and it wouldn’t have been a good look when my face appeared on their screen. The straps had become tangled and I struggled to remove it. I finally answered the call when they were about to hang up. My poor daughter looked concerned and asked me if I was feeling ok as I looked flushed and out of breath!

Love the idea of the bra - not so sure about the pants....!!

Love that story Grannynannywanny! I can just imagine the scenario! ??

You have all cracked me up, see what you make of these "ingenious" alternative face masks.

I love the cabbage leaves!
They look like Dr. Who villains grin

I have juts bought some lovely new ones that fit, dont move about, dont fog up glasses and look good. They were designed by a surgeon at alder Hey Children Hospital and are fundraisers too. I can give you the details but not sure I am allowed to on here.

I’ve got some old bras. But would I be brave enough to wear it?

Carolpaint Thu 29-Oct-20 09:50:29

Sorry but my 34e engulfed all my face. What sizes are you talking about perhaps a cup, b cup?

The OP didn't say it was entirely made from lace!

pinkjj27 Thu 29-Oct-20 10:13:45

I have made all my marks out of pretty bras, lots of people have asked me where I got them, but I am not sure you could possibly tell they were once part of my underwear, no lace on mine.
They cover my mouth, nose and fit well. My pet hate is the trend in this town not to cover your nose.
The strangest mask I have seen was a pair of head phones, the large over the head kind. It looked weird and I am not sure what good it was doing.

mask dam auto correct

polnan Thu 29-Oct-20 10:24:04

my answer to the question is

why would anyone want to, need to? make a mask from anything other than conventional materials..

me being lazy,, why would anyone want to make a mask!

I've just chucked out an underwired bra because one of the wires had started to stick out. Should I rescue it and use the other cup for a mask? Is this the ultimate in recycling?

Just love this thread. (Another thread could arise from 'What mood am I in depending on which of the top threads I choose to look at first'.) I make fabric masks and am about to do some Christmassy ones for myself and also some for local a charity sale. My own bras being of the more sturdy type would not make particularly nice masks.

Teetime I'm sure you're allowed to share a link just as people sometimes do for things they've bought in a shop or online.
Please do share.

This is all great fun, but sadly so many people have to make unpleasant comments. Where’s your sense of humour GNs?
