The more tenuous and obscure the better!
My aunty went out with the bloke who designed * both*
A) the Cadbury's Chocolate Orange packaging, and
B) Buzby, the British Telecom mascot

FannyCornforth Thu 19-Nov-20 14:25:35

Thanks Bertha, you were quick out of the stalls!

My dad went to school with Donald Pleasance and university with Leslie Sands.
I went to school with a girl who had an affair with, and later married, Freddy Titmus.
I met Cliff Richard's dad when I was 15.
I also met Paul Schofield, Diana Rigg and Patience Collier at the stage door at Stratford after seeing King Lear!
Oh and the back of my head was on TV when I was 9.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 19-Nov-20 14:35:12

My Mother and our dog were on the Eamon Andrews show (was it called Today?)

Kate1949 Thu 19-Nov-20 14:35:37

BlueBelle Thu 19-Nov-20 14:38:02

I made Bernie Cliftons bed in the late 70 s

Grandmabatty Thu 19-Nov-20 14:40:41

I was on tv as a child, riding a bike around a playground set up with traffic lights etc. Then as a teenager I was in the audience of The Lena Martell show which was filmed. I was seen a number of times. My friend is a friend of Alan Cummings and Forbes Mason. Very tenuous! ☺

Spinnaker Thu 19-Nov-20 14:41:20

I was on Its A Knockout and I've also met Prince Charles, Ed Miliband and John Prescott smile

Travelled on the same plane to Tenerife as Brian May. I like to say I went on holiday with him but that's stretching the truth!

Kate1949 Thu 19-Nov-20 14:45:36

Well if this is about famous people we have met, back in the '60s I met a lot of those. Did I mention I have a photo of myself sitting on stage with The Beatles grin OK I won't mention it again!

DanniRae Thu 19-Nov-20 14:48:31

We appeared on tv in the crowd when we visited "Antiques Road Show" Mr R had said something to me that made me laugh and there were the two of us chuckling away.
I had a chat with Jenny Eclair in Sainsburys - she was very nice

I threw myself across the bonnet of the car carrying the then Chairman of the Board of Inland Revenue while picketing outside Somerset House during a civil service strike in the 70s. The car was travelling very slowly. My photo appeared in The Morning Star?

Kate1949 Thu 19-Nov-20 14:51:34

These are great. We once sat on the beach in Port Isaac watching the filming of Doc Martin. The Fishermen's Friends sang on the same beach that night.

Auntieflo Thu 19-Nov-20 14:51:54

DS1 was presented with a swimming medal by Duncan Goodhew.

Pantglas2 Thu 19-Nov-20 14:53:08

MissAdventure Thu 19-Nov-20 14:55:43

My mum was Martin Clunes' cleaner, and he referred to her as the 8th wonder of the world during an interview. smile

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 19-Nov-20 14:59:08

I met Prince Charles at a work do. Also at work I met Rowan Williams when he was AOC. Lord Nicholas Windsor popped his head round my office door once. So did Brian May when looking for the Green room aka the Seminar Room. When I was 16 I waitressed at Henley Regatta and served Michael Hestletine when he was MP.

When I once presented a bouquet of flowers to HM , the Duke of Edinburgh addressed a couple of words to me when they visited our town.
In the words of the great Peter Sellers “I did not understand either of them”.?

HAZBEEN Thu 19-Nov-20 15:02:49

My daughter was in 2 episodes of "Supergran".
I went to the same school as Eric burton of The Animals.
I was once backstage at a T.Rex concert because my Dad was an electrician on standby at the concert hall.

avitorl Thu 19-Nov-20 15:12:22

Matthew Kelly made me a cup of tea when I viewed his house which was for sale at the time. I didn't buy his house but he is a really lovely person.
I saw Max Bygraves in my local post office
I kissed Joe Brown when I was a teenager and had Mumps the next day. I hope he didn't get them too

Perhaps more 'claim to notoriety' than 'fame' but I once found myself sitting next to Jimmy Saville at a retirement dinner. Long before the world woke up to what an evil piece of work he was, he struck me as a total creep and I moved to another part of the room PDQ
