Hello All
I'm often awake in the small hours,
for a variety of reasons which I'm sure that many are familiar with.
So I'm starting this thread for anyone in the same position.
We can chat, share our 3am worries, whatever.
If you fancy popping on for whatever reason, here is the thread for all Night Owls moon
See you later x

Thanks FannyCornforth someone started sma similar thread a while ago, but seems to have died.
I'm awake often so I will be popping in I expect wink

Good idea FannyC. I think previous threads have probably just got lost because they’ve dropped off the Active list if they’d not been posted on for a couple of nights.

Ashcombe Sun 22-Nov-20 12:55:44

Good idea, Fanny - I’m often awake at silly o’clock!

Woodmouse Sun 22-Nov-20 12:58:29

I'm often wide awake in the early hours but if I start using my phone I'll wake up the DH who won't thank me. You might see me occasionally.smile

Namsnanny Sun 22-Nov-20 13:03:25

Added to that woodmouse I'm never sure if getting up to do something is helpful.
So I usually toss and turn only to fall asleep an hour before I should like to get up!!angry

I'm often awake in the wee small hours too. I'll pop in whenever I need a bit of company. DH and I have separate rooms, for a variety of reasons, one being the fact that since the menopause, I am hot and restless (still, after 15 years) at night.
He has an early morning cleaning job to supplement the pension, and rises at 3 am on some mornings! Therefore I am at liberty to use my devices whenever I desire.

FannyCornforth Sun 22-Nov-20 13:16:33

Splendid to see so many Night Owls already.smile
I'll try to keep this thread bobbing along so that it doesn't get lost.

shandi6570 Sun 22-Nov-20 17:35:44

MiniMoon, your last sentence made me howl with laughter ?

Sorry, just couldn't help it, shouldn't have had that glass of wine.

SueDonim Sun 22-Nov-20 17:38:02

I’m a definite night owl. I’m only in bed before midnight if I’m ill! Thank you for this thread.

Namsnanny Sun 22-Nov-20 17:40:36

That was eagle eyed of you shandi6570 grin

Hetty58 Sun 22-Nov-20 18:18:32

I often have an afternoon nap, especially at this time of year. Therefore, I'm wide awake at 3 am, so I'll have a look next time to see if any other 'owls' are about.

suziewoozie Sun 22-Nov-20 18:33:16

Good idea FC. I may well be joining you

Maggiemaybe Sun 22-Nov-20 18:41:35

I’m often awake for an hour or so in the middle of the night. I find that reading for a while or catching up with Corrie helps me get back off, but I don’t use my phone, as a) I think it’ll make me feel even more wide awake and b) my MiFit app then assumes I’m up for the day and goes into overdrive ticking me off about the bad sleep habits.

If I get desperate, though, I’ll be signing in.

sharon103 Sun 22-Nov-20 18:47:11

I've always been a night owl. I usually go to bed at 2.30 to 3am after I've given the cats their supper or they might call it breakfast.

What a good topic. A couple of times a month I struggle to get off to sleep. On Friday I didn’t get to sleep till after 4am. There wasn’t much doing on GN to take my mind off my continual thought process.

sodapop Sun 22-Nov-20 19:01:14

gringrin Shandi6750 Made me laugh as well. Sorry minimoon

Marilla Sun 22-Nov-20 21:00:23

Great idea! I wish you fellow night owls were here last night.
It was due to my ongoing sciatica. But I promise not to whinge! Do you night owls also sleep in longer in the morning? I feel so guilty when other Grans are up and about at dawn getting on with the day.

suziewoozie Sun 22-Nov-20 22:05:35

I’m thinking that knowing you’ll be there if I wake up will probably facilitate my sleeping through ?

suziewoozie Sun 22-Nov-20 22:06:38

Can we have an extra night shift vote?

Mogsmaw Sun 22-Nov-20 22:14:12

I think you get up when you want to. I once read, “never let anyone assume moral superiority over you just because they got up earlier.”

Gwyneth Sun 22-Nov-20 22:16:57

Great idea. ??

BlueBelle Sun 22-Nov-20 22:41:23
