Hello Everyone smile
Just to liven things up a bit.
What are your thoughts on them?
Do you have a significant gap in yours or are you the same age?
(My husband and I have quite a big difference in age.)
Anyway - thoughts?
Thank you!

DH 2 years older than me.

In my youth, could never imagine marrying someone younger than me. Just seemed like a husband should be older.

Also felt a husband had to be taller than me, not difficult as I am average height.

Not sure why I thought this.

Mr. B is 4 years younger than me. Most people assume I am younger than him.

FannyCornforth, which one do you mean? I once had a lovely fling with a chap 15 years younger. My second husband was nine years older.

There's 15 years between us - both on 2nd marriages. We laugh that when I was starting secondary school, he had just got married first time.

Strange that a relationship that would have been taboo then is perfectly acceptable now.

Of course, I am the more maturely behaved one in the relationship...

my husband was 39 when we met and i was 23 we had 18 years and a son together, he died when i was 39.

I had a lovely fling when I was 17, with a 32 year old. Does that count or do you have to have married them.

My DH was eleven years older than me. It wasn’t an issue, we were on the same wavelength and had what I suppose you would call chemistry.

My sister’s husband was 21 years her senior which caused quite a stir and she had a lot of negative comments along the lines of ‘you will be a young widow’. Ironically, she died 15 years ago at 54 whilst her H is still fit and well at 89.

My other sister was three years older than her husband. He’s lost without her.

My OH is 15 MONTHS younger than me,he tells people he's my Toy boy

vampirequeen Sat 27-Feb-21 20:25:01

My DH also declares himself to be my toyboy even though there are only 9 months between us.

I don't have any problem with age differences as long as both are over 18. My dad was 10 years older than my mam and they had a long happy marriage until he sadly passed away. A work colleague was 12 years older than his wife whilst another was 20 years younger than her husband. We also know a couple who have a 35 year age difference.

I don't think age is an issue. Yes they may end up as a young widow or widower but should they give up any years of happiness over something that may or may not happen.

I’m 5 months older than Orlin. He’s taller than me. I’m brainier than him. He’s kinder than me, I’ve got smaller feet. He’s the sexiest.

17 years, Great chemistry for the first 10 years. Has waned now though. I feel old, so he seems ancient now!

Apart from the second and last.....we’re a match!

I actually don’t think age gaps matter in the long run as long as you’re happy ?

V3ra Sat 27-Feb-21 21:19:45

My husband is three weeks younger than me, but boy does he milk it while I'm a "year older" ?

LauraNorder Sat 27-Feb-21 21:22:47

Pantglas2 Sat 27-Feb-21 21:28:59

Jaxjacky Sat 27-Feb-21 21:30:02

My husband will be 8 years younger than me next week, he’s about an inch shorter, third marriage for me, first for him, he has no children, I have two, we’ve been together 22 years

Polarbear2 Sat 27-Feb-21 21:32:17

My OH is 5 yrs older than me. It’s no issue except our reference points from our past are often very different. He was the age of grammar schools and technical colleges. I was the first year they did away with that. Also our music tastes are quite different. I feel more ‘modern’ somehow??? It seems as though the world changed quite fast in the 60’s??

Shandy57 Sat 27-Feb-21 21:33:01

My friend was 45 when she met her new partner aged 60, and everything was great for many years until he retired. She said he just seemed to age overnight unfortunately, and she has continued to work rather than be at home with him all day, which is sad.
