Good Morning Everyone,
Its twilight this morning in Brackley , a little bit of brightness in the sky , but dry and cold outside .
Today, my usual shop , then do my own Fish & Chips , plus await a call from provider as to fixing email .
This weekend sees the start of more cycling on TV , of which I am looking forward to watch .
As it breaks watching continuous repeats on TV.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning, Mick and the morning gang from a cold and windy Torbay.

My thoughts have been with merlotgran and Georgesgran as they mourn their sad losses. It must be doubly hard with hugs lacking and funeral attendees limited. We can only support them from afar with our words and prayers.

Yesterday, I gained a ridiculous amount of pleasure from my first visit to Lidl since December. Such a joy to be doing an almost normal activity (apart from the wearing of masks and the sanitising station) like choosing my own food in a supermarket! The lovely cashier insisted on summoning a replacement for my cherry tomatoes, after examining them and declaring, “You have a hairy one there!!” ?

Such service guarantees my loyalty to this branch, only a five minute drive from my home and not too busy first thing in the morning. A bigger branch is a ten minute drive from here and keeps longer hours, opening from 7.00a.m. - 10.00p.m.

Whatever befalls today, I hope we can find a reason to smile, after all it is Friday! I once did a spell of supply teaching in a school where they celebrated Funky Friday each week with staff and children wearing colourful or odd socks, tights, etc. In Assembly, the seated participants were encouraged by the HT to wave their feet in the air! Happy memories! ?

Kim19 Fri 05-Mar-21 06:27:18

Morning to current two contributors and those to follow. A, you paint a real fun picture of colourful foot waving at school on Fridays. Thank you. Really making me smile and that's a great way to start my day. Nothing specific springs to mind by way of plans for today but if I get even the tiniest item off my list that will be considered success by me. Haven't ventured near the window yet but nose feels cool outside the duvet! Thoughts of our two known mourners spring to mind......so sad...... Having said that I'm going to try to return to the happy sock concept. Hope everyone has a least one noticeable high spot in their day.

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s dry and getting light.

A trip out for shopping this morning and possibly some crafting or garden work this afternoon.

Thinking of you all especially georgesgran and Merlot ?

Gagagran Fri 05-Mar-21 06:39:40

Morning all from a chilly south coast 3.3c on my weather station.

Had a very poor night as my anxiety levels are high for DH's operation today. He has just had his final medicated shower ready for his lift to the hospital where he has to book in at 7.30am. Today will be tense until I hear from him that it is over with and he is back on the ward. Knowing that he has another operation to face after he gets over this one does not help. I've always been a worry wart.

Take care everyone and have the best day you can. sunshine

Scentia Fri 05-Mar-21 06:41:37

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it looks dry but cold out. The whole street had to leave their blue bins out yesterday as they were not emptied, I will leave it to someone else to call the council and only take my bin in once everyone else does!!
Work this morning then off to do some deliveries, pick up DGS and go shopping, I haven’t been in a shop for weeks but I can’t get a delivery or C&C so needs must!
Tomorrow I am going to get DGS to help me clean the piggies out then we are off walking in the woods to se what creatures we can see.
Thinking of all our friends who are having sad and worrying times at the moment.❤️

grandMattie Fri 05-Mar-21 06:42:19

Good morning from a grey, dreary E Kent.
Hugs and thoughts to Merlot and georgesgran. Sad times for them.
I was one of those wives whose pension was hugely underpaid. Fortunately, DH saw something in the financial press in August, I claimed and received a 5 figure sum in November, together with a doubled pension. Do claim if you think you might be entitled. It was worth it for me.
A friend who does gardens is coming this afternoon to have a look. DH who did the heavy work, has lost interest, I get terribly cold: so now I can afford it... Many of our large shrubs/small trees need a severe haircut and there are a load of plants which need splitting and moving. Such excitement!
Be gentle with yourselves today;no overdoing! Stay safe. Xx❤️☀️?

Sar53 Fri 05-Mar-21 06:43:59

Good morning from a frosty Essex by the sea where it is 2°, a chilly start. I have been awake since 4, all those obtrusive thoughts going round and round. I think I'll finish my book.
I think we are going to start decorating the en suite today, shouldn't take too long as it's not very big.
My thoughts are with Merlot and Georgesgran ?.
Have a pleasant Friday whatever you have planned xx

kittylester Fri 05-Mar-21 07:02:30

Good morning all from a misty North Leicestershire where our bin men are making an awful racket.

DH has a volunteer drive this morning, picking up the patient at 8.00! I gave the ironing to do, when I get up!!

gaga I will be thinking of you and your dh today. Please let us know.

Loving thoughts to merlot and Georgesgran.

Bellasnana Fri 05-Mar-21 07:02:36

Good morning from Malta where the weather is much as usual although there is a possibility of showers later. We really need a good downpour as it hasn’t rained in a very long time.

My thoughts are also with merlotgran and Georgesgran. It brings back my own memories of losing DH but I was so lucky to have family and friends around for support. I can’t imagine coping in these dreadful times, although there’s no choice sadly.?

Gagagran, you are bound to feel anxious about your DH. Hope it helps a little to know we are all supporting you virtually. I’m sure all will go well and you will feel a lot better when you know it’s over with. Please let us know,?

I have the hairdresser this morning after which I will collect the pup and bring him back home until DD3 finishes work.

Yesterday I walked to the village and enjoyed two cappuccinos. Won’t be able to do that again for a while as the government issued new measures last evening which means cafes will be closing again after a record number of cases were reported.
When will it end?

Take care all and I hope you get through the day as best you can.☀️

GrannyGravy13 Fri 05-Mar-21 07:07:55

Morning Mick and all

My thoughts are with Merlotgran and Georgesgran (((hugs))) be gentle with yourselves, take one day at a time.

Gagagran you will be on tender hooks till you hear from your DH, I hope all goes well.

Blue sky and suns up here in S EcEssex but it is chilly!!! We are on childcare duty today but it’s the last day of homeschooling yippee ? Takeaway Indian for dinner this evening and I think DD and the GC will join us.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

Dwmxwg Fri 05-Mar-21 07:10:04

Good morning from a chilly north Surrey.
Gagagran I do hope the day goes quickly and your DH will be on the phone to tell you all has gone well for his op. Try to keep yourself busy if you can, it will help the hours to pass.
Merlot and Georgesgran ?
Today the school is closed for a deep clean before Monday sees the return of all pupils so the boys are with us for the day. Last night they had “film night” as a treat, thought they would sleep in but eldest is already up. He is designing a board game at the moment, he is never happier than when has pencil and paper to hand.
We will all wrap up warm and have a walk with the dog later before mummy comes to collect.
I am on dinner tonight so shall make chilli pasta which is one of my favourites.
Wishing all a good Friday

brook2704 Fri 05-Mar-21 07:20:53

Good morning mick and all from Inverness where it’s a bit brighter today with some blue sky and sunshine promised for later
Like others my thoughts are with merlotgran and georgesgran so sad ?
Hoping everything goes well for your DH gaga thinking of you
Sorry to hear of the increase in cases and that your cafes are closing again bellasnanna , hopefully it’ll soon get under control again and it won’t be for long
Today I’ve a check up at the eye clinic and maybe some gardening later. I hope your gardeners can work their magic for you grandmattie sometimes things grow so quickly it’s hard to keep them under control!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles today, take care all whatever the day brings ?

cornergran Fri 05-Mar-21 07:21:45

Morning Mick, morning All from a cold, dry corner of Somerset.

I’ll be thinking about you both today gagagran, understand your anxiety, sometimes think surgery is harder on partners waiting by the phone.

The increase in cases in Malta surprised me Bellasnana, worrying for you, hopefully soon under control. I feel so sad for Georgesgran and merlotgran who are in my thoughts, a hug for them.

Seriously achey this morning, falling seems to have upset fibro as well as my back. Don’t plan to be doing that again. . Need to call at the hospital pharmacy this morning for ‘stuff’ ready for a procedure on 16th so will brave a top up shop while I’m out. First time for ages, looking forward to it, never thought I’d be saying that about a supermarket.

Take care everyone, be gentle with yourselves.

NanKate Fri 05-Mar-21 07:23:36

Morning Mick and All.

A cold but beautiful morning here in South Bucks.

My thoughts are with Merlot and Georgesgran at this very sad time. ??

The cleaner is coming so we are off to Waitrose click and collect in the next town. I am quite excited as I haven’t been into a shop for months, so the Post Office and Boots are in my sights. Roll on next month when I can see what is left of our High Street. At least we are not in a bomb site like our parents experienced.

Pittcity Fri 05-Mar-21 07:29:22

Good morning from cloudy Colchester. A fluffy sky is better than the solid grey of late. The gritters were out last night but were promised 7° today.
Phone calls and admin today. A walk to Lidl and a friend picking up something DD left here for her before Christmas that had been forgotten is the extent of our Friday socialising.

Much love to all, especially georgesgran and merlot ?

harrigran Fri 05-Mar-21 07:34:32

Good morning from a sunny NE where is is 1 degree but no frost.
I have been awake since 5.30 so went off and read my book for a while.
Our gourmet food delivery came yesterday, unfortunately driver dumped the box on it's side despite this way up sticker.
I am going to have a French yogurt and a pain au raisin for my breakfast.
My thoughts are with Merlot and Georgesgran.

Urmstongran Fri 05-Mar-21 07:34:47

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it’s dry but seems chilly out. No frost though.

Our grandson (8) has been in school throughout as both parents are keyworkers. I asked him if he was excited to be seeing all his friends back in class on Monday? “Well yes grandma, but Fridays won’t be as good anymore. We have games outside and when there’s more of us it takes ages to get a turn to race, because we just have to stand in the queue’. Typical boy!
?

I’m a happy bunny - I’ve lost 3lbs in weight this week. I’ve said to Himself no more bringing up crisps, biscuits, cake or chocolate from our downstairs larder! If it’s not in, we can’t be tempted can we?

Off to see my stepfather this afternoon.

Hope Friday is kind to us all. I hope your husband’s op today goes well Gagagran and he’s on the phone soon to reassure you. Especial thoughts today of merlotgran and Georgesgran both of whom one day apart have joined a group they didn’t want to be in.

Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

amselerin Fri 05-Mar-21 07:37:07

Good morning Mick and all from frosty Lueneburg. The Sun is shining brightly so it`s going to be a beautiful day.
I have been busy painting and doing nothing much. My granddaughter and her Mother came visiting on Tuesday. They stayed all day and it was uplifting. My granddaughter ,Emma, is 13 and lives in Hamburg. She can`t go to school, but she seems to cope very well. I had a phone call from the surgery yesterday morning asking me, if I would like to come for my yearly check up.This check up is only due in June, but I think, that lots of people put off going to see their doctor because they worry about Corona. I shall take the opportunity to take a walk around town. I am just waiting for my vaccination which is a long way off. It`s rather a shambles here.
I wish for every one with anxiety and worries that they feel better soon.
Wishing everyone a pleasant day. I don`t write very often as it would mostly be a repeat of what I wrote before. I am reading your posts every day. Otherwise something would be missing. Take care

Urmstongran Fri 05-Mar-21 07:51:14

Lovely as always to hear from you amselerin! Keep posting dear lady. None of us are ‘doing much’ and it’s interesting to hear how life is in Germany. You definitely add to the variety on this thread. Even snippets of daily not much are interesting from abroad.

Gelisajams Fri 05-Mar-21 07:51:38

Good morning from a cool, calm, grey Morecambe Bay.
Thinking especially this morning of Georgesgran and Merlotgran and also remembering Travelsafar?

Hoping all goes well for Mr Gagagran I understand and empathise with your anxiety Gagagran. I’m sure all will be well and you would reassure others, but it’s different when it it’s you and yours.

DH is watching the cricket, so that’s him out of action until late morning. I think I’ll use the time to wash our flags and drive. We have those awful pavers which collect weeds and moss in their joins. I’ve bought some ‘stuff’ which you spray on and apparently it works it’s magic! Here’s hoping ?

DS2 got his call for vaccination yesterday. He’s only 40 so not sure why he’s been called although he is very overweight, has asthma and is diagnosed autistic. It could be any of those things or perhaps a combination. He got the call from his GP. He works in a crowded warehouse and has to travel on public transport so I’m quite relieved as I’ve been concerned about him.
Have the best day you can everyone, and take care, stay safe ?

Jaxjacky Fri 05-Mar-21 08:13:20

Good morning all from a dry, chilly, sunny S Hants. Today’s highlight is a Tesco delivery after lunch, that’s about it. The flowers I got on Monday are all opening up and look so lovely, cards can come down later today. Gaga hoping the time doesn’t drag too much before your welcome news
Thinking of you ladies with such sorrow, merlotgran Georgesgran and Travelsofar ?
Also hoping sheep isn’t too exhausted.

baubles Fri 05-Mar-21 08:13:37

Good morning Mick, morning all from a rather overcast South Lanarkshire.

It was just glorious to see my family in the east yesterday although I do feel guilty even although it was allowed. Thanks to everyone who encouraged me. Ashcome the almost four year old DD was wearing odd socks as she has done for over a year since the day she noticed her Daddy’s socks didn’t match. She immediately took off one of hers and ran to her room to fetch another and has refused to wear matching socks ever since.

Gagagran I’ll be thinking of you and your DH today, I hope his op goes well. I’m sure you’ll be on pins until it’s over.

So much sorrow on Gransnet just now, my thoughts are with Merlot and Georgesgran.

Sorry to hear about your fall corner, hope you feel better soon.

Enjoy your French breakfast Harrigran

Today’s outing will be to the post office, I’m sending some paperbacks to relatives in Ireland. In the olden days I would have combined that with a dog walk and tied her up outside but that doesn’t feel safe nowadays so she’ll have to stay at home.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Friday.

BlueSapphire Fri 05-Mar-21 08:13:40

Good morning again from a grey and cloudy day in Northampton. More of the same is forecast.

And more of the same for me: reading, newspaper, crosswords and sudoku, my Agatha Christie, and knitting. I am near to finishing the main body of my cardigan, just the ribbing to do - it seems strange to be doing the ribbing last. And a load of washing to do as one of the cats deposited a hairball on a spare-room bed yesterday.

Thinking of Merlot and Georgesgran today and also trust that Gaga's DH's op goes well.

Marydoll Fri 05-Mar-21 08:17:03

Good morning all from a cool and cloudy Glasgow. I feel so sad for Merlot gran and Georgesgran, I cannot begin to imagine their pain.

Nothing exciting happening today, apart from a Tesco delivery. I seem to be spending such a lot more online, than I would spend if I physically went to the supermarket.
DD and SIL are have offered to clean all my windows, (they must have noticed how dirty they were, ?), it's just too strenuous for me these days and DH can't see that they need washed. The neighbours are gossiping about my lack of housekeeping skills!

SIL is also going to help DH move some heavy garden pots, another job I usually do. Its so frustrating being unable to do what I used to do in the garden. DH is a very reluctant apprentice, so I have to do things subtly and enlist DD and SIL's help! ?
All I have managed so far is sow my veggie seeds in the propagators. The least bit of effort triggers an angina attack, which is so demoralising.

Their plan is to have lunch in the garden, brrrrrr, DH has just been to collect baker's morning rolls, as requested by DD. I suspect, DD wants to play with the chiminea and fire pit! She loves to go wild camping. She certainly doesn't take after me ?

Gaga an anxious day for you, I hope all goes well. ?
GM, I was reading about that pension scandal, what a surprise windfall for you.
As a WASPI, I reckon that that I have lost out on about £40,000 in state pension benefits. I can't wait until May to get it.
Wishing you all a pleasant day and a gentle day for all my struggling friends.
