Good Morning Everyone,
Its light , but with cloud this morning here in Brackley but remains dry as well .
Haircut ,done the hairdresser, came earlier , so was cut before expected time , she visits the residental home I live in , so saved queing to barbers elsewhere.
I got the bus to Bicester ,and headed straight away to the bakery shop with a cafe at back , you had to go into the cafe to order , then go to tables outside , lucky weather was OK .
Track & Trace still continues as well, shopped elsewhere then came home on the bus .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning to you all from a chilly but fine Torbay!

This wanderer has returned! My friend and I enjoyed our brief escape from Torbay, despite the minor flood in the bathroom! Luckily, plumbers were on site, dealing with various problems for owners returning to their homes after an enforced absence of many months. By the time they reached us, we had written off the day and were sampling some rather good Pinot Grigio! With the water necessarily turned off, what else could we do?! ?

Yesterday, we were blessed with better weather than had been forecast so made the most of it with a visit to a local garden centre and a riverside stroll at Simmons Park in Okehampton, besides checking out a few bargains in the charity shops.

It was kind of so many of you to wish us a good trip on both the GM threads this week and I know olddudders, my DH, updated you yesterday morning. He has always preferred female company so is enjoying following what many have to say on various GN threads.

Wishing you all a good day, including our brave young mascot, Iris! ☀️??

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where there’s a touch of frost and a fair bit of mist.

Woohoo!! We can travel outwith our local authority area from Friday. After the weekend rush had died down we will be making a bee line for the coast, I cannot wait to hear and to smell the sea.

A friend is coming over today to join me on my walk which will be good, I haven’t seen her in many months.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day.

baubles Wed 14-Apr-21 06:20:34

So pleased you enjoyed your overnight away Ashcombe, despite the plumbing problem.

grandMattie Wed 14-Apr-21 06:27:00

Good morning from a grey E Kent. What a change from yesterday’s glorious sunshine!
Sounds like both you and Ash have had a good day yesterday, Mick. Wonderful what a bit of sun and companionship make!
We had a fantastic day with the family. We went to Richborough castle (google it), where the girls had a lovely time. We were gobsmacked at how agile Iris was. There are several 6’ deep defensive ditches which she tackled with panache, on her bottom down and crawling up! She was a bit sad and flummoxed at first when she thought she couldn’t do what the others were doing. All she needed was a bit of gentle encouragement and she launched herself! They finished off by buying a bow and arrows each “for archery practice not to kill anyone, Grandma”. A good, happy couple of hours.
FYI I kept my mouth buttoned an foot out of it, only said anodyne things and all was well!
The family are lunching here today before returning home. DGD1 and I share a birthday tomorrow, so we’re having a lunch party today complete with chocolate caked with chocolate butter icing, strawberry laces and strawberries dipped in white chocolate! Special request from my “twin”!
Have the best day possible today. Find your flamingo ?, smile ? or splash of sunshine ☀️. ❤️

Good morning from north Surrey, can see grey sky through the blinds. DH has just bought me cup of tea to start the day.
Ashcombe Okehampton park looks like my type of place.
It was so lovely to get back to the shops yesterday. Bought clothes for all the GC and got myself a bargain, warm top for exercising for age 11/12, fits perfectly. The town was busy but no more than a normal Saturday would be. The only queuing we had was to pay in Primark, but moved quickly.
This morning I have PT and have booked a slot at the gym for straight after, will just do half hour cardio there. It is the cardio ex

Dwmxwg Wed 14-Apr-21 06:33:11

Pressed post too early!
Cardio exercise!
Visit to mum and dad and then on to DS’s partner and DGDs for a garden visit.
Boys are back this evening so a full on day.
Hope all have a good one, I am enjoying the pictures of gardens, walks etc

Kalu Wed 14-Apr-21 06:41:45

Good morning all, a frosty, misty morning in Glasgow too.

Thank you for mentioning the travel ban will be lifted as from Friday Baubles. I hadn’t realised but the first thing I will do is visit DD1 and her girls in South Lanarkshire. Hooray!

I don’t plan to rush out to shops or mix with too many people but a trip to the coast is high on our list......at last.

Keeping my fingers crossed our forecast for a sunny calm day later will be just that. Pottering outside with coffee breaks to look forward to. Must have a look at my to do list.

Have a good day all and hopefully, a better one for those of you who are struggling.

Greyduster Wed 14-Apr-21 06:45:31

Good morning Michael and all GNs. The sun is just Bout up in a clear South Yorkshire sky and I have been awake since half past four! Had a lovely afternoon out with my eldest niece yesterday at the garden centre looking for a planter and a rose to go in it. She wanted something to commemorate her lovely late hubby and we found just the thing so she was very happy. Unusually, I came away from there empty handed! That’s a first, but we had lovely coffee and cake. DH has a GP appointment this morning and then we have some shopping to do. Hope everyone has a good day.

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 14-Apr-21 06:51:38

Good morning everyone from a sunny and frosty Oxfordshire, pleased you are keeping well again Mick.
Ashcombe what an interesting read about Sydney Simmons and how generous he was, I’ve never been to Okehampton, but maybe one day?
Pleased too that Iris is doing so well, it’s a relief when they start to do ‘normal’ things again isn’t it.
If it’s warm again later I might go out and do some more weeding, heaven knows the garden needs it and I have to do it in spurts (laying flat between times to sort out my dodgy back) so it take for ever, but if it’s sunny I might reward myself with a glass of something cold in the sunshine with DD who is off her crutches in the house and garden.
Have a good day everybody and hugs for those who aren’t feeling so chipper.

kittylester Wed 14-Apr-21 06:57:17

Morning all from a brightening North Leicestershire.

Electrician here to remove redundant thermostat in the hall and the carpet is being lifted. So excited.

I also have my Sainsbury's order to complete.

Sar53 Wed 14-Apr-21 07:00:08

Good morning from Essex by the sea where the sun is trying to appear from behind the clouds. It does feel a bit chilly though.
DH is off to see the practice nurse to have his stitches out this morning then he is going to do a bit more cleaning on his boat.
I will have another empty for part of the day. I have the legs to shorten on a pair of overalls for DH, a cheese and onion pie to make for dinner and a small pile of ironing to tackle.
DD2 and family are off to a cottage in Norfolk for a few days, hopefully the weather looks set to stay dry.
DD1 sent lots of pictures of them in the Lake District, the scenery was beautiful.
Have a lovely day, find a ? and keep on keeping on xxx

Susan56 Wed 14-Apr-21 07:03:09

Good morning from Shropshire.

Yesterday’s visit to mum went as well as visits do these days.Just as we were leaving mum’s house, DD messaged to say Matilda was upset as she thought I was collecting her from school. The result was we met them in town and M came back with us for her first ever school night sleepover? She always wears her hair loose out of school but this morning I have to do French plaits?a very long time since I did school hair!

Once we have dropped M at school we are going to DD’s to paint their living room.Luckily H will be with his other grandparents today. They thought they had weeks to paint as the decorator who is going to wallpaper one wall had booked them in for June but is now coming this Saturday.DD will come and paint between meetings and DSIL will paint between milking and farm work.

Glad you had a nice mini break Ash and you had another good day with the family mattie.Enjoy your pre birthday celebration?

Hope all goes well today for NanKate?

Thinking of Cherry and hoping she is ok?

Have a good day all and thinking of all with illness and worries??

Beechnut Wed 14-Apr-21 07:03:28

Good Morning everyone from art and bright Severnside.

That would be an unusual thing for me too Greyduster. I even managed to buy something when we went on a motorbike, tucking it down between us.

I’m going to watch a craft show this morning. It’s on mosaic which I am keen to have a proper go at. I shall mow the lawn and maybe some weeding so I can get my new plants in.

Take care all, I found my flamingo yesterday and hope it stays today ??

amselerin Wed 14-Apr-21 07:04:12

Good morning to Mick and all from chilly but sunny Lueneburg. The lawn was covered in frost. I have noticed that the thread this morning is very optimistic. Great, that`s what we need. Here in Lueneburg we are not too restricted but in other parts of Germany it is not so good. I went into town yesterday and could do some shopping. The restaurants sell take away food. I live in a little village close to town with lots of forests around where I take Waldi for a walk. But all your happy threads make me hopeful for the future. Keep it up and keep well.

grandMattie Wed 14-Apr-21 07:05:42

All the very best today, Nanakate. I hope all goes well and the results are what you hoped for. ?

Jaxjacky Wed 14-Apr-21 07:08:01

Good morning all, high cloud here in S Hants. Some good trips out yesterday, Ash hydration is key, Pinot is an acceptable replacement for water. Mick had coffee and I assume cake? gM sounds like a smashing trip out, Iris is indomitable, anodyne sounds sensible, well done! Dw you must be petite, I had a petite friend years ago, made me at my 5’11 feel huge. Well the garden man plus sidekick came, dug out the overbearing bay, old tree roots, various other detritus, dug in old horse poo and good to go. He’s sourcing wholesale grasses and perennials, returning to help me plant up, back later this year to see how it’s settled. Seeming to be a ‘treasure’ I’ll keep a tight hold! Allotment today, some digging and watering the potatoes, we need rain, but none on the horizon.
I hope you have a lovely day whatever your doing, thoughts with those not able or feeling up to much.

baubles Wed 14-Apr-21 07:12:44

Delighted to hear that you’re having such a lovely time gM

Kalu I’ll be visiting DD and her brood in East Ren. Perhaps our paths will cross? grin

GrannyGravy13 Wed 14-Apr-21 07:25:46

Morning Mick and all

I haven’t opened the curtains so I assume my weather is the same as Sar53

Cleaners here first thing, then I am off to the gym (2nd time this week), followed by a manicure and pedicure, little steps back to normality.

Pleased you had lovely days grandMattie and Ashcombe

Sending hugs to our mussing friends (((hugs)))

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Kalu Wed 14-Apr-21 07:33:59

In that case Baubles, our paths may well have crossed already. ? Hopfully, in the not too distant future, we both make it to the next meet up. ?. Enjoy your long awaited visit to your DD and her family.

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 14-Apr-21 07:34:20

Good morning all from bright Harrogate. Got a busy morning ahead! Have to sort out monies I’ve been scammed out of and find the best way to retrieve it!! Then take the car for a run to keep the battery topped up which will end at theGreat Yorkshire Showground where I will have my 2nd Vac!! Hoping to persuade DH to have lunch out - not holding my breath, he doesn’t like change!!!
Sounds like you are all more optimistic with a taste of freedom - good news.

Sounds like busy day for you dwm enjoy your gym session - hopefully mine will reopen on the 26th?
I’ve still got DGC here this morning just waking up so I’ll need to get up soon
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles today, take care all whatever the day brings ?

Gagagran Wed 14-Apr-21 07:43:39

Morning all from a bright south coast and +0.1c on my weather station. Think we are set to gradually warm up a bit which is good news.

The builders made good progress yesterday and are very tidy workers. It's so good to have efficient, pleasant and skilled tradesmen and we are happy to have had this one recommended.

DH is off out with his cycling chums in a group of 6 this morning for the first time since last autumn. The lockdown, then his second op. and recovery intervened. He has warned the group leader that he may have to peel off and come home early but is hoping not as a gentle route is planned. Really pleased for him to be feeling ready to get back to his beloved cycling. His surgeon promised him that he would get him back on his bike!

Our cleaners are due shortly and I am waiting for a delivery from the big river company of a new garden hose. Our old faithful sprang a huge leak and decided to re-baptise me by almost total immersion yesterday when I went to water the pots. Time for a new one and it should arrive today.

Hope today is another good one for us all - so many happy days reported yesterday. It was lovely to read about them all! sunshine

Beauregard Wed 14-Apr-21 07:47:42

Good morning from Derbyshire where it's dry again and sunny. I'm starting to think the hosepipe will need to come out soon as the garden is so dry. Some of the shrubs have already suffered badly over the harsh winter, I don't want them to die off altogether!

We enjoyed our walk yesterday, exploring a new route which took less time than DH would have liked! Passing a pond we saw a duck with 11 gorgeous little ducklings. I took photos (thinking I might post one) but the quality was poor due to zooming in. I fell into an unusually deep sleep in the afternoon and then took three hours to get to sleep last night!

Hope all goes well for NanKate today flowers

Thinking of our missing posters and those with worry, sadness and illness flowers
