Would you watch it if it was broadcast on a different day, say the anniversary of her coronation?

tanith Fri 23-Apr-21 07:32:03

No

Urmstongran Fri 23-Apr-21 07:49:42

No.

nanna8 Fri 23-Apr-21 07:50:55

No, never do anyway.

NotSpaghetti Fri 23-Apr-21 07:52:11

No

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 23-Apr-21 07:54:16

The Christmas one you mean?

I like to watch it at Christmas, as my ACs would say ‘it’s tradition’ - in our house anyway.

suziewoozie Fri 23-Apr-21 08:36:22

Are you the Palace doing some market research amongst the relevant demographics? ?

Calendargirl Fri 23-Apr-21 08:38:49

If you mean the Christmas Day one, I always listen to it, not necessarily when it’s on live.

Galaxy Fri 23-Apr-21 08:40:38

I was about to say are you doing a survey but suzie beat me to it.

Notinthemanual Fri 23-Apr-21 09:00:27

No, I'm not the Palace. The post is my own curiosity. A survey amongst ourselves I suppose.

Notinthemanual Fri 23-Apr-21 09:02:35

Oopsadaisy1 Yes, I meant the Christmas Day one. Thank you for replying.

Thank you all for replying. I hope some more Grans will be along later.

Bodach Fri 23-Apr-21 09:10:00

We'd watch it whatever day it was on, but we'd prefer to stick with Christmas Day.

Lucca Fri 23-Apr-21 09:12:08

No. Haven’t watched it since I last had Christmas with my mother

Grandmajean Fri 23-Apr-21 09:38:31

Usually watch it at some point but you always get told what's in it anyway. To be honest , although I do admit to taking an interest in the Royals , I think the speech is always dull.

Lollin Fri 23-Apr-21 09:44:56

The speech always make me laugh.... so no I cannot take it seriously and it is not a good comedy, so no.

My government will.... like the alternative Christmas speech a good comedy would be, my government will actually..... (though the Christmas alternative was not funny)

LauraNorder Fri 23-Apr-21 09:58:17

The Queens speech at Christmas is usually about peace, goodwill, family and the Commonwealth. It seems more relevant on Christmas Day when more families are together and can watch together.
The Queen’s Speech at the State Opening of Parliament is relevant to that occasion so why change it.

timetogo2016 Fri 23-Apr-21 09:59:49

Not live but no.

vegansrock Fri 23-Apr-21 10:05:53

It’s a no from me. It’s all scripted and we know what is in it anyway.

Elegran Fri 23-Apr-21 10:16:04

The Christmas speech is a round robin to the country. either you are interested in it or you are not. You don't need to read those long epistles from former friends, and you don't have to watch the Queen's speech. No-one ties you to a chair, tapes your eyes open and turns the TV volume up high.

Lollin The Queen's Christmas speech is never about what "My government . " will do - that is the one at the opening of Parliament, and the government's plans are relevant to that, even if they are a work of fiction by the PM.

henetha Fri 23-Apr-21 10:18:08

Yes. I would watch it whenever it was on.

Callistemon Fri 23-Apr-21 10:19:03

No-one ties you to a chair, tapes your eyes open and turns the TV volume up high.

Those who don't want to watch it on Christmas Day can always go and do the washing up, leaving those who do want to watch it in peace.

Perfick!

EllanVannin Fri 23-Apr-21 10:25:05

I'm usually too busy in the kitchen making sure that nothing burns or boils over grin

maddyone Fri 23-Apr-21 10:42:45

I don’t usually watch it these days, although I might see a snippet on the news in the evening.

ginny Fri 23-Apr-21 10:47:50

No, wouldn’t make any difference. . I never watch it anyway.

Callistemon Fri 23-Apr-21 11:04:01

Over 8 million people did watch it, few of them on GN it seems
