we have no shops left locally now Debenhams has gone, are there any recommendations for the best online sites something in the M&S price range.

Sago Sat 24-Jul-21 11:37:52

Hush, a little bit more than M&S but worth it.

I'm sure you would find loads of selling sites if you googled the topic 'women's clothing'. I personally do not buy clothes online, much prefer to visit clothing stores, even if it means travelling a few miles.

cornishpatsy Sat 24-Jul-21 11:53:10

Debenhams are online.

dogsmother Sat 24-Jul-21 11:57:19

I still like Boden and White Stuff

BBbevan Sat 24-Jul-21 12:00:03

Nomads is quite good if you are not too conventional

If you like colourful, eccentric clothing I'd recommend Gudrun Sjoden. The autumn catalogue has just come out and there is a shop on Covent Garden.

Poetry is good too. Simple styles in linen, hemp and cotton and some wool in winter. It's more expensive than most but because it doesn't try to be trendy the clothes will give you a lot of wear. I tend to wait for the sale.

Kaleidoscope? They are bombarding me at the moment and I can't remember ever even looking at the site. There is a nice looking pink jumper that keeps appearing.

Oh Dinahmo I too am a Gudrun Sjöden fan - but I only buy in their sales!
I have 4 of her long cardigans with another (at less than half price) due to arrive on Monday. I am so excited and can’t wait for Autumn!

I love White Stuff. The reviews are really helpful and their sales are very good too. Even between sales, there is often a 20% code hanging around. Boden is good for many things too although I find some of their styles a bit 'young 'for me now. (I have shopped with them since they started up) I used to buy lots from Toast (only in the sale!) When I was looking for an 'occasion dress', I found Phase 8 brilliant. I ordered 6 dresses, took photos of myself in them and chose 2. Absolutely no problem returning the others.

MawBe I usually only buy from Gudrun during the sales. Being rather large I like the tunics which I wear over trousers (M & S). I treat myself to one new item in spring and one in winter. Some years ago I splashed out on one of those Parka type raincoats which I love. So colourful. And it keeps the rain out.

Another one that I like looking at online is Sahara - lots of lovely colours and comfortable shapes. I haven't bought from them yet but will one day next time I want to treat myself.

I think that the over 60s should wear whatever they want, with the proviso that the clothes are comfortable and not too tight, or too short, depending on ones legs. Mine aren't good so I wear long skirts or trousers.

Quirky, a bit hipster, sale on now.

Seasalt for posh
Cotton Traders for staples
Simply Be for all sorts of things including bras

Would love to shop at Gudrun but my bum is too big

I have discovered the Otrium outlet, where you can find more expensive ranges at much reduced prices.
I have become hooked on Sandwich clothing from that site.

MiniMoon Sat 24-Jul-21 15:20:15

I bought a pair of off white jeans from Damart recently, and now they have sent me their catalogue.
Seasalt are good and so are Next.

DianaLouise Sat 24-Jul-21 15:48:59

has anyone tried Sosander?

Polly12 Sat 24-Jul-21 15:55:13

Which shops have you bought from in the past, DianaLouise? What style do you like? I find Biden expensive and not to my taste - rather schoolmarmish / bit straitlaced. White Stuff have “gone off” in my opinion, design wise, though their stuff lasts well. I like Fatface. Seasalt are again a bit boring, a bit “boxy” in shape. Gudrun Sjoden is interesting, but very expensive, and rather distinctive, so doesn’t blend with other makes well. Small boutiques often have interesting clothes - none local to you?

travelnan Sat 24-Jul-21 15:56:51

I have bought some nice tops from Afibel.

BBbevan Sat 24-Jul-21 15:57:39

I have a Gudrun Sjoden bag I bought many years ago, but her clothes are far too patterned and colourful for me. Love the shapes and designs though .

DianaLouise Sat 24-Jul-21 16:01:58

I tend to stick to M&S or phase 8 for special occasions. I used to love Precis Petite or minuet but they are no more. I also used to like designers at Debenhams again no more.

muse Sat 24-Jul-21 16:07:55

I shop nearly 100% on line. It's the only way I can find clothes the length I need with being tall.

Thank you for the Gudrun Sjöden site. Never heard of it before. Hope their lengths are good.

I treat myself to Mint Velvet clothes occasionally.
Monsoon
Next and Seasalt (as they do a tall range). Seasalt are such good quality.
As JaxJacky said about Joe Brown. I love their tunics.

The sizes are generous. I buy XXL. I regret to say that I'm big all over.
