I wore a pair of floaty, wide legged trousers today, and three times almost fell over when they got tangled round my legs.
Really lurched forward, with my vape thing in my mouth, too.
If I'd not regained my balance by running along swearing I would have gone face down on the pavement, and my vape would have knocked my teeth out.

I walked home very slowly, with my legs wide apart!

Has anyone had this happen?

GrannyGravy13 Mon 02-Aug-21 18:53:22

Not the vape issue, but I did trip over my flip flops whilst my hands were full, broke two upper front teeth.

Have caught wide legged trousers in my shoes often.

Mind you I am what my daughters-in-law call a clutz

MissAdventure Mon 02-Aug-21 18:55:00

Well, my trousers will be going to the charity shop now.
It really shook me up; I was all pale when I got home!

dogsmother Mon 02-Aug-21 18:56:55

Sorry for smiling but you created quite the mental image !
Legs apart, vape between teeth in danger of knocking them out!!!

dogsmother Mon 02-Aug-21 18:58:28

Grannyg
Sorry about your teeth,,,,thats awful….

MissAdventure Mon 02-Aug-21 18:59:04

It happened in the part of town where shoppers sit to rest, and taxis park up, too. blush

Nell8 Mon 02-Aug-21 18:59:38

Ooo sounds nasty! Lucky escape. Could you convert them into harem pants by using bicycle clips?

MissAdventure Mon 02-Aug-21 19:00:58

grin
Great idea!
I could make a "garter" out of knickers elastic to put round my ankles.

Jaxjacky Mon 02-Aug-21 19:01:39

I wear wide legged, full length trousers, but made of linen they’re heavier, so fine. Sounds a mishap, glad all is ok!

Juliet27 Mon 02-Aug-21 19:02:52

I recently fell flat on my face without the aid of floaty trousers. Amazed I didn’t break my nose or teeth. Embarrassing isn’t it…but at least I didn’t have to walk hone with legs apart! ?

MissAdventure Mon 02-Aug-21 19:04:45

Oh I'm glad too!
I just wonder why this is suddenly an issue, because I've had them years.
More knock knee'd, perhaps?
Legs have shrunk so they were too long.
My guess is that I've got so slim that they're a bit too big. lies

sodapop Mon 02-Aug-21 20:38:26

That is definitely the answer MissA the trousers are too big for the slim line you smile

MissAdventure Mon 02-Aug-21 20:52:14

Sigh.
Looks like I'll have to eat more, then. grin

Mattsmum2 Mon 02-Aug-21 21:38:23

Tripped up a kerb earlier this year and had to sit down to calm myself. Felt quite sick. When I got home realised as I took my trousers down to inspect the damage that I had a rather bloody knee, school child like!

MissAdventure Mon 02-Aug-21 21:42:47

Ouch!
My mum and daughter laughed at me because I wouldn't buy the warm, comfy boots I liked, as they had a one inch wedge sole.
I got them, fell over on some gravel, and arrived at work with my tights all torn and gravel in both hands and knees. grin

Jaxjacky Mon 02-Aug-21 21:52:36

MissAdventure perhaps it’s not because mine are linen, perhaps is just my portly middle keeping them up!!

MissAdventure Mon 02-Aug-21 21:55:02

I have a portly middle too.
Cut in half and tripped up, all in one day. smile

dogsmother Mon 02-Aug-21 22:19:52

Oh dear oh dear and drinking nothing stronger than cups of tea all day either?

Shinamae Mon 02-Aug-21 22:20:11

I have to agree just glad you weren’t hurt …?

dogsmother Mon 02-Aug-21 22:22:59

Actually it’s not nice and does shake you up, please don’t think that I don’t appreciate this, it has happened to me ( tripping up) and it’s a confidence shaker ?

MissAdventure Mon 02-Aug-21 22:26:50

It does shake you up, doesn't it?
I seem to have become doddery, suddenly.
I'm quite achey now, just from the almost falling.
I probably looked like I was doing a few dance moves. grin
I can see the funny side, but I won't be wearing those trousers again.

Going up the stairs in poundland wearing a long floaty skirt, shopping trolley in one hand,3 year old DGD holding the other, had to resort to clutching between teeth, being careful not to expose any front knicker area, would have given up but had promised DGD some arty crafty bits from there.

I tripped and fell whilst on holiday pre-lockdown and my boobs popped out of the vest top I was wearing! I did have an unbuttoned shirt worn over the vest, but it didn't stop the fact that the people helping me up were averting their eyes! And the reason became clear to me once I was back on my feet grin

I blamed the platform style sandals I had on and am more careful in them now!

I do think that wide trousers could be a trip hazard, it's good that you didn't actually fall MissA.
