good morning from s somerset and I am looking forward to the expected two hours of brighter skies that may appear at 9am. Must be sure to be ready to go out for a walk around town. Hat on today, as well as gloves and warm coat

I am on a savings mission, it cost such a lot of my savings over the 5 years it took to prepare, sell and buy my new house and to settle in. Forthcoming austerity made me pull up my socks. So far so good, I also call it a use what I have project. I do like it whan a lightbulb goes on

So today I will window-gaze and absorb the lovely bakery smells

Good morning from a dark, but at last dryish, E Kent.
Hurray, contracts are signed (outside on the street as the solicitor’s office was not wheelchair accessible!). Some money has changed hands, but DL hasn’t been given a firm completion date - still aiming for 14th December.
I don’t know what she will be worrying about next. I find it very puzzling as she has a PhD in psychology, worked as such in the NHS for years before becoming a priest. Both of those should provide her with mental armour.
My eye test results was a little unexpected. My right eye has deteriorated so much and so quickly in the last year, that I have been referred for a cataract operation! Thus also explains the dazzling sensations, the blurring, etc.
I’m off on a dog walk this morning. No idea what DLisdoing, will most likely involve 50 phone calls at all hours..🤨
Hope everyone has a restful weekend, in the warm, with their Christmas preparations well on the way. Carpe diem, dear virtual friends 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a dry but chilly Torbay, due to a N.E. wind.

I appreciated the encouraging remarks regarding my outing to the Downs on Thursday. Yesterday, apart from DH doing the early Lidl run, we hibernated as I don’t do well on very cold days. Instead, I followed the exercises supplied by the Cardiac Rehabilitation Team which are doing me good. I include walking up the stairs from the communal hallway, after which I’m less breathless than in the past.

It must be a relief that contracts have been exchanged. If only your DL had a fraction of your mental resilience, grandMattie! I hope you can have your cataract operation without too long a wait.

Wishing for some brighter skies, however brief, for karmalady and others with outings planned. Wrap up well!

Morning Mick, morning All from a dry, very cold corner of Somerset.

Enjoyed yesterday, long chat over coffee with friends followed by a sorting out afternoon. Today sees us off to a primarily outside Christmas event after an early lunch, time to dig my warmest coat out.

Take care everyone. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

BlueSapphire Sat 03-Dec-22 06:45:52

Good morning everyone from a still very dark Northampton; I think it is dry out. Sitting here with the usual cat on my lap, a mug of tea nd a dark chocolate digestive! Listening to Tony Blackburn and Sounds of the Sixties....ah, my lost youth! Still can sing along with them.

Had another day indoors yesterday, didn't do a lot except make a big curry; cooked enough for 4 portions, so now have 3 to put in the freezer this morning. Had an afternoon of reading from my back-pile of magazines, got through three more yesterday.

Feeling better enough today to go out and post my Christmas cards; if that goes well may hop on the bus and do a top-up shop, have a coffee and cake out.

Then tonight I hope to go to DD's Christmas concert; she plays flute in a concert band; (a concert band is woodwind, brass and percussion, no strings). Then back to her place for overnight, and tomorrow lunchtime meeting the rest of the family to celebrate DD-out-law's 50th birthday.

Will make an effort and get out early this morning. Hoping today goes well for everyone.

Grandmadinosaur Sat 03-Dec-22 07:20:50

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. It’s just getting light and dry.

I’m up early for a Saturday. I have a shopping delivery due at 8am. After breakfast we are going to Knaresborough for the Christmas market. I always look forward to going there. As it will predictably be busy I’ve booked us a table somewhere for lunch. It will be strange tonight with no Strictly to watch only the results show.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

I hope things go smoothly with your DL’s house move on the 14th Mattie, that’s my birthday so I’ll wish for that.

Keep on looking after yourself Ash, it sounds like you’re doing everything right.

I spent most of yesterday blethering with another SLanarkshire Gransnetter which was so enjoyable that the hours just flew by.

Work today, my first day without my colleague but I’m hoping for lots of help from volunteers. The Christmas light switch on is happening in the town I work in so I’m sure we will be busy as there will be lots of activity with stalls and music outside.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grammaretto Sat 03-Dec-22 07:25:19

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Less cold than it has been but will probably rain.
My stall is set for the indoor Christmas market which starts today but goes on for 3 weeks. I have to "babysit" it for a couple of days.

gMattie what a relief for you to know DL will be moving soon and that you are not responsible for her for much longer.
You have been a tower of strength.

I'll be back to read your morning messages later. Have a good day everyone.

Beechnut Sat 03-Dec-22 07:26:16

Good Morning everyone from Severnside where it is dark and cloudy.

I think it would be sensible for me to join you on the use what I have karmalady. First of all though I need to do some more serious sorting out. I’m going to use my brother and SiL visit to spur me on.

You really sound as if you’ve had enough of DL Mattie. You can start counting the sleeps now 🤣

I really want to get my cards done today after putting the job off yesterday…once again and put away my autumn decorations. I see I’ve just had my Christmas bonus paid in this morning 😀

Hope you all have a good day 🎄

kittylester Sat 03-Dec-22 07:26:35

Good morning all from a still darkband very cold North Leicestershire.

We have a man coming to mend the fan oven in our 19 year old range cooker. It has been struggling for the last year or so but we were intending to replace it when we had the kitchen done. That got shelved till next year but the cooker didn't get the memo and has died.

It is the village light switch on and Christmas market today. My choir is doing a flash mob and I so wish I was fit enough to go.

Sending love and healing hugs to all.

Susan56 Sat 03-Dec-22 07:30:31

Good morning from Shropshire.

A busy day today!

We are starting off going across the border into North Wales to see H perform in his nursery Christmas show☺️DD and I will then drive over to Cheshire with the children to see my mum, take her out for lunch and try and sort her banking out🤯DH will collect me and the children from DD’s later and then all back here for a sleepover.

The concert sounds lovely BlueSapphire.DD1 plays the flute and DD2 the clarinet. They no longer play in any bands or orchestras but I remember the days when December was one concert after another.

So pleased the contracts are signed grandMattie.

Good to hear your appointment went well Mick and that Ash is getting better.Hope all our other unwell good morningers are improving too.

Have a good day everyone.🎄

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 03-Dec-22 07:51:19

Good morning Mick and everyone from a clear skied Lanzarote.
We are off for a drive around today as we’ve been by the pool most days and only ventured out to eat. Although we’ve around the Island many times in the past it will make a change from MrOops sunbathing and me sitting in the shade reading.
GM you can uncross your fingers now your DL has exchanged contracts!
Hope everyone has a good day, stays warm and dry and finds some sunshine.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 03-Dec-22 07:53:36

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Another day doing Christmas preparations I think. I’ve got bits of admin to do too. I made such a large beef pie yesterday that we only ate half so we can have the other half for dinner with more vegetables. The local church will have a tree lighting ceremony and carol singing this evening. I always used to go before I changed churches. OH bought some concrete slabs yesterday for a small job in the garden. Of course the World Cup might take precedence! Have a good day.

Chrissielou Sat 03-Dec-22 07:53:58

Cloudy but less murky this morning in Oxfordshire. Off to meet with DS2 and family to have coffee and select the Christmas tree from a nearby garden centre. The wreath is made but I want to make a garland, I've collected lots of lovely greenery, but sadly the holly tree which was laden with red berries a few weeks ago is now bare.
I wish you all a happy Saturday.

dragonfly46 Sat 03-Dec-22 07:59:23

Good morning from chilly Leicestershire.

Not much planned for today except sorting out all the parcels that have been arriving.

Hope everyone has a good day, sorry you are not up to joining your singing group kitty, did you get my pm?

GrannyGravy13 Sat 03-Dec-22 08:00:22

Morning Mick and all

It’s grey outside, not sure what the forecast is.

A quick local shop, wrap up Christmas Gifts and I may do some baking that’s my day sorted.

Have a good Saturday 🙋‍♀️🎄🤶

Georgesgran Sat 03-Dec-22 08:01:32

Good morning from Durham, where it’s barely light. My cold is coming along nicely, but I don’t feel too bad in myself – in fact, I have DGS1 here and expect him to wake soon. I’m hoping for a quiet weekend, so after he’s been collected, I need to have a good sort out in my study, as I was searching for a document yesterday and realized I have kept 12 years of stuff from my rental house that could be shredded.
I hope the poorly GNs continue to improve and may the heavy hearted find a bit of light.
Best wishes to all. X

brook2704 Sat 03-Dec-22 08:02:40

Good morning everyone from Malaga, a little bit cloudy today but still warm.
It’s our last day here today, tomorrow we’re flying home. You can’t fly direct to Inverness so we’ve got a flight to Luton that arrives in the early afternoon and then a connecting flight back up to Inverness later in the day. A longish travelling day but we should be home tomorrow evening. Jumpers, boots, hats and scarves on I expect!
Have a lovely time in Knaresborough grandmadinosaur and enjoy the Christmas market
Sorry to hear you’re not able to join your choir in the celebrations today kitty 💐
Hope the nursery Christmas show goes well susan - bet they’re so cute to watch Sounds like you’ve got a busy day ahead too
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Urmstongran Sat 03-Dec-22 08:04:45

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and the sun is just coming up. Looks cold out though. Himself will be putting his Big Coat on to watch the Boy Wonder’s football match. At their age (top juniors) they apparently just play 9-a-side in their little league games.

Then this afternoon he’s going to make his signature dish (a huge pan of chilli which we share tomorrow with daughter and son-in-law). This was a very cunning plan of mine as I said last Sunday “if we have chilli for dinner next Sunday we can have a run out to a pub with my stepfather for a change first as it’ll be an easy ‘warm through’ on the hob when we get home”,

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. Very cold but not too damp here.
DS came home unexpectedly last night. He had some parcels delivered here to pick up and he gets to soak in the bath. There are only showers on base and at his GF's Uni digs.
My Mum is being moved from the big General Hospital to a rehabilitation centre. It means she is getting better and all the help she needs but it is further from home for my Dad to visit. My mind is easier with regards to them though as local friends are willing to help. All the family live at least 2 hours drive away.
As for me. I have a big pile of ironing to tackle. Beef stew and dumplings tonight.
Love to all 🦩 x

Good morning all from dry Harrogate.
I was intending to go to Knaresborough Christmas Market, Grandamadinasaur, but DD has invited us to lunch in Knaresborough and not sure if I’ll have time to do the market as well. I do want to get a card posted to Canada today though.
Hip hip hurray! GrandMattie I sense great relief!!
You now seem to be on the road to recovery Ash keep it up.
Glad you’ve got through another appointment Mick and can relax.
Got back home in time for late lunch yesterday. Good to be back
Have the best day possible folks

Gingster Sat 03-Dec-22 08:07:59

Good morning all and you all sound very festive! ‘🎶🎶It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas 🎶🎶🎶.🎄🎅.

Yesterday I had a lovely day out with a good friend. We caught the bus and it took us all around the countryside (near Hyde Hall) GG and Sar will know. Took nearly an hour to get to Chelmsford instead of 20 minutes on the other bus. Didn’t matter a jot as we chatted away!

DS2 and family are back from Lapland! How magical it looks. Memories made.
DS1 and family went to Glow at RHS Hyde Hall. The whole place lit up ! Beautiful. I must go next year.

This morning I will take little Gd to ballet and bring her back here as DD is viewing a house to rent. Time is running short so I really hope she likes it and gets it. So many people looking for rented accommodation at the moment. 🙏.
It couldn’t have come at a worse time with her health and treatment ongoing.

Little gd is dancing at the local bazaar this afternoon so I’ll go along and watch. 🩰👯‍♀️.

I’m glad you’re feeling stronger Ash . You seem to be doing all the right things. 👍.

GM - the end is in sight. It sounds like your DL has lost confidence , which of course is quite understandable.

Have a joyful day all ❤️

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and dry. Susan that sounds so special. Good luck with sorting out the finances! Have a lovely time. Chrissielou a family get-together sounds lovely too.
Yesterday had highs and lows. I met friends for lunch and we blethered for a couple of hours. One of us four is always stressed about something and has a comic dramatic way of talking about it which makes us laugh. Unfortunately I got a phonecall about my friend who is unwell and the news, as I feared, is that her cancer is terminal. Later on dgs1 came for a sleepover which cheered me up. We walked to see the village Christmas tree lights ceremony. The village was mobbed! Lots of singing, Santa, happy crowds and a very overwhelmed three years old who just wanted to go back to grandma's house, so we didn't see the lights after all. We shared chips back home and he was sound asleep by eight.
Today we are going to the local garden centre which has a wonderful Christmas display. We'll have breakfast and then look at all the Christmas stuff. He can choose an ornament and we'll put it on grandma's tree. Then after his mum picks him up, I shall collapse onto the couch and have a whiskey and green ginger. Chicken for dinner. Have a good day all.
