Cruel

I think it is so cruel about harry & meghan and their upcoming documentary on Netflix. Reading and seeing some of the things that are shown in the papers, trailers etc, yes I realise some papers may not be so accurate, or even what H&M have been saying, but netherless they are simply attacking our royal family, how can it ever be allowed. I won’t be watching this when it starts this week.

At the beginning of Covid there were understandably so many threads started about the various aspects and concerns that GNHQ opened a Covid Forum so they could be in one place, more or less.

I wonder if there could be a Meghan & Harry forum - half the nation seems gripped by mass hysteria caused by a TV programme!

Cruel indeed to entice a click on a thread under false pretences!

Agree Riverwalk.

I no longer want to hear anything about this couple. Yesterday I switched channels when it was a news item and today I scrolled past all the various "tidbits" on the online newspaper which I read every morning.
I have Netflix but have no intention of watching their programme.
I don't think I could allow my blood pressure to get so high if I watched anything to do with them.

Witzend Tue 06-Dec-22 10:13:25

Me too, maytime2. IMO it’s both cruel and vindictive - not to mention making lots of lovely money for them.

I wish to goodness the pair of them would stop the ‘poor me!’ whining and get on with the ‘private life’ they have tried to kid us they want.

I won’t be watching or reading any of it.

Yes Volver one word - Noooooooo!

Blossoming Tue 06-Dec-22 10:27:31

Simple solution - don’t watch it!

Just a thought. The red top, mainly right wing tabloids think they have free rein to print what they want about the Royal Family. Very rarely did the RF complain. I think William sued when Kate was filmed at long range when sunbathing topless. Now though, at least a couple of them are answering back with their version of events. Why the heck shouldn’t they? Any other person on this planet can complain about misleading or totally wrong comments in the media, but not it seems the RF. So, we can either believe all the stories the media put out about the RF via ‘sources’ or ‘friends’, or make our own minds up and watch the ACTUAL people give their views. Just remember, H&M would have been brilliant if the tabloids hadn’t turned against them, led by one Piers Morgan.

Magnificent! You have summed it all up in one sentence. There is nothing more to say really.

25Avalon Tue 06-Dec-22 10:33:15

But Chestnut they need the dosh to get on with their ‘private life’. What’s the saying about selling your own grandma?

Smileless2012 Tue 06-Dec-22 10:45:29

Yes it is cruel and sadly isn't uncommon when some AC seem to feel the need to 'justify' their decision to estrange or go low contact with their family.

Once the decision has been made, why not just get on with the life you have chosen, be happy and allow those you no longer want any contact with, or little contact with to do the same?

Witzend Tue 06-Dec-22 10:50:05

Smileless, presumably the answer is that the vast majority of people don’t have the option of making many millions out of airing their grievances.

That’s fine but H&M aren’t just railing against the red top tabloids and other media. I doubt anyone has a problem with that. They’re trashing Harry’s family and our RF on the world stage professionally. William, Kate, Charles et al aren’t giving interviews and making documentaries giving their side of the story. I’m sure they could but it’s so tasteless and H&M know they won’t.

Remember that while the tabloids are whipping everyone up into a frenzy over this........people are still hungry, and cold, and can't get an ambulance.

Smileless2012 Tue 06-Dec-22 11:00:03

Puts me in mind of what Thomas More reportedly said to Richard Rich during his (More's) trial. 'Why Richard, it profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world, but for Wales?

In Harry’s case for the money.

Smileless2012 Tue 06-Dec-22 11:11:57

Yes tickingbird the money.

Blossoming Tue 06-Dec-22 11:13:45

Robert Bolt, A Man For All Seasons, based on a quote from the King James Bible. As that bible didn’t exist during Thomas More’s lifetime he couldn’t have been quoting it and I have no idea if it existed in any earlier Latin bibles.

Smileless2012 Tue 06-Dec-22 11:17:00

I have no idea either but it is a possibility that's where the translation for the King James Bible came from.

Hetty58 Tue 06-Dec-22 11:21:01

I just can't summon up any interest - at all. My news and TV viewing has been hijacked by the football (another non-interest) then severely irritated by all the Christmas junk - and next it will be all about them!

Smileless2012 Tue 06-Dec-22 12:15:41

I share in your frustration Hetty.

Aveline Tue 06-Dec-22 12:23:39

I was interested and a bit surprised to hear that my DD and some of her friends are cancelling their Netflix subscription due to their annoyance at H&M. It won't make any difference to Netflix's bottom line but she feels that at least not a penny of her money could get to them.

... this, exactly.

Bread and Circuses.

The RF are strong enough, protected enough, clever enough to sort it out for themselves. Their loyal fans will stay loyal to "our" royals.

Just how important is this issue to dominate the outraged headlines by comparison with some of the other stuff that's going on?

I'm bowing out. It's not important enough to me.
