Good Morning Everyone,
Its daylight with cloud in the sky but remains dry here at the moment here in brackley.
Today will go to Bicester do some shopping and maybe have a halve pint of beer .
Watch Cycling on TV then go for a Chinese Take Away .
Health wise I am not breathless or having a pounding heart beat which I had a week or so back .
There must have been something in my system for something like 12 months to cause it .
Mind you Winter still with us , I noticed Blackthorn in blossom which is a sign of weather changes.
Take Care,
Mick

BlueBalou Sat 25-Mar-23 05:58:55

Good morning Mick, it’s good to hear that some of your symptoms are abating, enjoy your trip to Bicester. There’s lots of May blossom out here too, such delicate and beautiful tiny flowers.
It’s blowing a hoolie here, the wind woke me up at 4 ☹️
Off for a week at the seaside today, weather forecast isn’t too brilliant but a change of scene and walks on the beach will be lovely. Will go prepared!
Yesterday I cleaned through the house so just the packing to do now, DH has been told he’s walking DDog before we leave at lunchtime.
Have a lovely weekend everyone x

grandMattie Sat 25-Mar-23 06:01:19

Good morning from a grey E Kent. It is already daylight. That’ll change tomorrow as the clocks go forward tonight. (Note to myself!)
Mick, we must be far ahead of you as the blackthorn blossom is almost over here. Magnolias are opening fast and spring is advancing…
I’m fidgety today as I’m having the assessment for the cataract operation which may/not take place tomorrow. The operation itself doesn’t worry me, but the implications of it happening or not do as I’m moving out of here three weeks yesterday.
My lovely friend helped me set up the new Wifi hub and stuff. Where before,(as long as 7 years ago), there was one piece of equipment, there are now three!
It’ll be odd without Urms. When I first joined the GMmers, her first question was “how much is your house worth?” 😂 I hope all goes well with her.
I hope everyone has a quiet, contented weekend. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Morning Mick, morning All. Goodness it’s been a windy night. More strong gusts forecast for today along with some welcome sunshine.

Blossom appearing here too, love to see it. Little happening of interest, too uncomfortable to enjoy anything really. Getting cross with it now. Wind woke me at 2.30am, no sleep since. I’ll be more than grumpy later. Hope to get out today, perhaps along the coast to a sheltered marina.

You sound brighter mick, take care out and about. Safe trip and happy holiday bluebalou.

Good wishes to all.

cornergran Sat 25-Mar-23 06:09:49

Good luck with the assessment grandmattie. So much happening with you just now.

Ashcombe Sat 25-Mar-23 06:19:22

Good morning from a still windy but dry Whiddon Down.

Yesterday morning, I was delighted to be visited by a gas engineer, who got the CH boiler working and will return at a later date to service it. Apparently, it was last serviced nine years ago when it was first brought here when new!

The new Wi-Fi on site works well so I was able to enjoy a Zoom call with DH yesterday afternoon, amongst other online delights.

Condolences to Grandmabatty on the loss of your friend but what a blessing for her to have had you in her life, especially during her final hours.

I hope you enjoy your holiday BlueBalou, which sounds like just what you need. A few Gransnetters sound a little down at present, largely as a result of the dismal weather, it seems, which is understandable. Blossom of various kinds has suddenly bloomed in Torbay, including this magnolia, captured earlier this week.

Urmstongran: you'll be missed on here and not just for the Matt cartoons, but for your interesting posts about your life, especially the trains and Spain. Take care of yourself.

Today I’m returning to Torquay to fulfil commitments there over the next few days. It’s only about a 45 minute journey, if the traffic keeps moving on the A30, A38 and A380. Very straightforward. An alternative route skirting Dartmoor takes greater concentration but is worth it in fair weather.

Enjoy whatever you’ve planned and safe travels to those on the move. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

grandMattie Sat 25-Mar-23 06:23:01

What a lovely magnolia, Ash. My little M. stellata had all its buds blasted by the recent cold spell. No flowers this year. 😢

Greyduster Sat 25-Mar-23 06:30:53

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Glad you are more yourself today Mick. It’s cool and cloudy in South Yorkshire this morning but the wind is still blowing. I seem to be getting into a pattern of waking at five every morning and it’s irritating me. I got very wet yesterday waiting for a bus to take me up the hill from the tram stop. It came, but then decided to drive straight past me without stopping! So I walked the three quarters of a mile rather than wait for the next one. Could have done without that. I’m having an “in” day today.
Blackthorn in blossom here, too, and hawthorn greening up.
Sorry you’re in so much discomfort, Corner. Hope it settles very soon.
Enjoy your holiday, BlueBalou!

Have a good day my friends grin

MawtheMerrier Sat 25-Mar-23 06:46:23

Good morning from under the duvet. I too got soaked (twice) on a visit to D and family in London yesterday and finally had to borrow a pair of jogging bottoms from my SIL while my trousers hit the tumble dryer.
Thunder and lightning ( very, very frightening) and hailstones like gobstoppers! !
I wanted to see them as they are off to Japan for the whole of GS’s Easter holidays-postponed from over 4 years ago when first of all SIL’s Mum’s Alzheimer’s meant she had to go into a care home, then the pandemic etc. Their tickets run out next month and they would have lost the whole cost of the flights. Lovely time to go but I’ll miss them at Easter.
In her absence Urms has asked me to keep you supplied with our daily Matt, so here he is.
Glad you are feeling more up beat Mick hope the Churchill or JR get to the bottom of the problem. In the meantime, keep as fit as you can, walking should get easier as the weather warms up.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

baubles Sat 25-Mar-23 07:19:53

Good morning all from dull South Lanarkshire. The rain during the night was torrential.

Pleased that your symptoms have settled down Mick.

Beautiful Magnolia Ash.

Have a good trip Bluebalou, sounds like you’re well prepared for a wet week.

I’m meeting a Gnet friend and non Gnet friend today. We’re visiting a NT property in Glasgow, a tenement flat which hasn’t changed in fifty years. I’ve been before but they haven’t so I’m hoping they enjoy it.

Wishing everyone the best possible day.

Good morning from a cloudy, breezy Colchester. The sun is forecast to appear later. Yesterday it was sunny one minute and biblical rain the next. Double figure temperatures though.
Just received an email from my energy company raising standing charges and decreasing unit costs. Why? Because they can!
DS is home for the weekend unexpectedly so we need a trip to Lidl. Otherwise no plans today.
Love to all 🦩 x

monk08 Sat 25-Mar-23 07:24:59

Good morning all from a dull Black country. This time next week will hopefully be sitting on the tarmac on our way to the Spanish sunshine, it will be younger Dgs first flight and he's informed us he doesn't like heights.
Lots of lovely blossom on here this morning, I do like this time of the year when the gardens are beginning to wake up.
Do hope your assessment goes well GM and safe travels Ash and bluebalou.
It's that time again full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Enjoy your Saturday whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Beechnut Sat 25-Mar-23 07:27:32

Good morning everyone from Severnside. The clouds are moving swiftly and blue sky above.

I’ve just looked down the street and saw the bloom on magnolia trees.

Apart from pegging out and getting back in the washing yesterday I spent the whole day card making. With the sun shining outside as well I felt much better to be doing something useful. I’m sending all the destination US cards together before the postage goes up.

As it was windy I brought my new clematis indoors as it’s looking fragile and I don’t want it to break off. Depending how things go I’d like to spend sometime outside and do some more card making.

How anxious were you Mick about having your operation, maybe that’s why your heart rate was like it was. Anyway enjoy your half 🍺later.

Have a good day all ⏰ 🌼

kittylester Sat 25-Mar-23 07:27:50

Good morning all from a bright but showery North Leicestershire.

DH is, at long last, having a helicopter flight over Nottingham Forest's City Ground. He was bought it as a present pre covid and it has taken till now to arrange it.

Have the best day possible all.

karmalady Sat 25-Mar-23 07:29:45

Good morning from s somerset, I intend to sit and read near the window this morning after a very wakeful night. The wind was so loud and so was the rain beating down. We are likely to have a bit of sun here soon and I am going to wallow and do nothing much

That is my day sorted, it will be restful with reading and knitting and some indoor exercise but not a lot, only enough to keep my blood moving

Today I will reap the benefits of my productive week and will no doubt have a nap this afternoon

Whitewavemark2 Sat 25-Mar-23 07:33:36

Good morning from a bright and very windy South Downs. I bet the sea is rough.

Dog quietly nagging by sitting with his nose to the door, so I must get on.

If the wind isn’t too chilly I shall go out into the garden today.

kitty I meant to ask you about your new garden bed - what are you planning to go into it?

Enjoy your day everyone

ShazzaKanazza Sat 25-Mar-23 07:34:11

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. It’s windy and raining out.
Our magnolia has about 30 opening buds on it but that’s more than it’s had the last two years or so. I suspect DHs pruning to be to blame.

Yesterday I took mum into town to do some banking for my Uncle and as suspected she didn’t want to go for a cuppa and a bite to eat. Why because she’s got food at home so why buy any. ‘Well Mum because I want to treat you’
Yet again she said ‘why don’t you go across to the bakery and have a sausage roll or something’ yet again I said ‘still can’t mum still coeliac’. It’s been 10 years now🤦 Good job I love her eh. 😂

Have a lovely day everyone and safe travels. Enjoy time with friends and family. 🌻🌻

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 25-Mar-23 07:34:33

Morning all from a very blustery West Oxfordshire. My Stella magnolia is in bloom and looking beautiful. I too will miss Urms’s posts, even though I didn’t agree with her politics! I sent her a pm. Our daughter is arriving sometime this afternoon and will stay until Monday. She is having brunch first in London with her ex-partner. They split up after seven years together a year or so ago. They still get on well. Have a good weekend everyone.

Gingster Sat 25-Mar-23 07:36:43

Good morning all and it’s damp here in Essex.

Dd came home yesterday afternoon with a lots of meds and instructions to take it easy . Little gd came in from dance class (we hadn’t told that her mummy was home). She saw her mum and dived into her arms. Omg we were all teary eyed. 🥲.

We’ll take each day as it comes and see how we go.

Enjoy your day , those who can and just relax, those who can’t 🌷

brook2704 Sat 25-Mar-23 07:38:37

Good morning everyone from a very grey and damp Inverness, hopefully it’ll brighten up later.
Nothing much planned today, I was hoping to get out into the garden but I’m not sure the weather agrees with that
Enjoy your meet up Baubles and enjoy time with your family multicolouredswapshop
Safe travels back home Ash and enjoy your holiday BlueBalou
Hoping your DH enjoys his helicopter flight kitty what a lovely present, even if it’s taken so long to organise!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

brook2704 Sat 25-Mar-23 07:41:29

Gingster so pleased your DD is home 💐

Marydoll Sat 25-Mar-23 07:45:21

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 6°C.

Good to hear you feel a bit better Mick.

You will be missed Urms, but you must do what is best for you.

I have no plans for today, feeling a bit off.
Yesterday on our return from Pitlochry, I sat down after lunch and woke up two hours later. These sleeping episodes come on out of the blue, with no warning and leave me quite discombobulated to say the least. My clinicians say it is a warning to slow down! I couldn't go any slower!

My best wishes to all, who are poorly.
For those who are out and about enjoy. Baubles, I'm envious of your visit. I've never been there.

Have a good day, whatever your plans.

Marydoll Sat 25-Mar-23 07:46:27

Great news, Gingster! You must be so relieved.

ShazzaKanazza Sat 25-Mar-23 07:47:19

Gingster it’s such good news that your daughter is home. I would have cried too seeing them reunited. 💐
