Good morning from E Kent.although not stormy, the weather is still cold, unseasonal and generally unpleasant.
I had an emotional day yesterday, saying goodbye to more people.
The solicitor contacted me saying I needed to “pass” an interview with the warden of the sheltered accommodation to prove I was both mentally and physically able to live unaided, before “they” would allow me to but. I called two different numbers, and got answering machines at both. Left an impassioned message asking if I could have a Zoom interview as travelling to Bristol from E Kent at this late stage of my sale was both expensive and impractical. I shall call again on Monday, but am not holding my breath. Why do people make life so difficult?😡
Quiet day today. Shall try to change my bed without bending over! 😂
Try to make a random act of kindness. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Morning all from my cabin in Esztergom! Somewhere in Hungary! It is very civilised. OH has the adjoining cabin. Have a good day. GM - I bet you’ll be pleased when the angst is over and you can move in.

BlueBalou Sat 01-Apr-23 06:32:22

Good morning, it’s a grey start here in Dorset, I suspect it’s damp too!
Oh grandMattie what a buggeration, really ridiculous to expect you to trek the width of England for that, I’d be very unimpressed.
Off home this morning after a last walk on the beach, it should take about 2 hours. I’ve already packed most of the bags so won’t take long. I hate repacking the car and the unpacking when you get home, no idea why!
DDog has joined me, and here’s the view from the very comfortable bed 😊
I hope the weekend goes well for you all x

Abitbarmy Sat 01-Apr-23 06:37:18

Good morning all from a dark and damp North Yorkshire. Back from a week in gorgeous Wharfedale where we did have quite a lot of rain but it was still very relaxing in a lovely cottage. However I seem to have acquired an irritating cough and headache that I can’t shake off, so will test for you know what later. I’m always pleased to get back home especially at this time of year when I have lots of gardening stuff on the go. So looking forward to some lovely new potatoes and home grown tomatoes. DSi will find out this week the extent of her colon cancer so a very worrying week ahead. Fingers firmly crossed. Good luck GM with everything, I can’t believe what you’re having to deal with you are such a strong woman. The warden will find out just how “able” you are! Ridiculous at this stage to putting you through an interview. Hope everyone has the best possible weekend. White rabbits!

grandMattie Sat 01-Apr-23 06:39:07

I had forgotten. White rabbits 🐇 🐰 everyone!

Ashcombe Sat 01-Apr-23 06:45:30

Good morning all from a (thankfully!) calmer Torbay!

Yesterday, I had allowed victuals to diminish to the point where I had no choice but to venture out in the wind and rain! Lidl was well stocked in genera, including lots of chocolate goodies, including a unicorn which my DGD will appreciate. I don’t normally buy chocolate at Easter but the family is coming down to stay with my ex next weekend and I shall spend Easter Sunday with them.

As I unloaded the car, a gust of wind nearly blew me over! Later, I learned that the winds had reached 70 mph at times locally! I’m sure it will be very calm on the Danube, Ladyleftfieldover and you’ll have a wonderfully relaxing time. It’s good to hear of various breaks people are taking - how different from 2020! Safe journey home, BlueBalou; you'll miss that view! 🤞for your test, Abitbarmy; that’s a holiday souvenir you don’t need.

I quite agree regarding this interview you’re expected to undergo, grandMattie. Surely that could have been conducted on one of your visits there or you could instead provide a reference from your Vicar or GP.

Today I have a lunch reunion with the cast of ‘Allo, ‘Allo. Luckily, their preferred venue is on Babbacombe Downs so walkable for me.

Enjoy whatever Saturday brings your way, 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

GrannyGravy13 Sat 01-Apr-23 07:08:09

Morning all

Surprise surprise another grey, damp and breezy day 😡. Have to pop out to the butcher’s later, other than that it’s the sofa and my kindle.

grandMattie what a palaver!!

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩 🐇🐇🐇

Good morning all from the east coast of Fife, peeking out from behind the curtains it look like it’s a windy and rainy day

Wheres that spring weather I’m looking for Abitbarmy hopeyou are okay and hopefully you will enjoy the rest of your holiday

Take care out there all you lovely gnetters

cornergran Sat 01-Apr-23 07:26:05

Morning Mick, morning All. A glance out the window shows it’s still soggy out there.

Steam train trip with good friends today, looking forward to it and could do with being less tired than I am. Difficult night but once I get going all will be well.

Oh heck grandmattie. I hadn’t realised retirement developments still wanted that ‘suitability’ check. When we moved ten years ago our development manager told us she had given up doing similar some ten years previously. I’m sure Zoom, a phone call or even a visit from your daughter will tick the boxes.

Take care everyone. Safe travels to those on the move. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Good morning from a grey, damp Colchester (predictive text puts that in automatically!) Yesterday was a washout. The torrential rain didn't stop until I walked to the estate AGM just before 8pm. There is less rain in today's forecast so I'll walk to Aldi. DH has gone away for a few days to assess a Duke of Edinburgh's Award Gold expedition...I'd forgotten that the school's had broken up. DS is home for the weekend and needs feeding. Spag bog tonight I think.
Love to all 🦩 x

karmalady Sat 01-Apr-23 07:32:36

Good morning, s somerset is still wet and miserable and still windy

GM, surely a letter from your GP would suffice. Not a good start to the relationship with whoever is asking for the interview. I hope it is sorted soon, without travelling

Bluebalou, I love fossils, just holding an ammonite gives me that very deep connection to earth age, so much so that I studied geology in my middle life. You seem to have that vibe too

Have a good day

Grandmabatty Sat 01-Apr-23 07:32:45

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and damp and grey. grandmattie that seems a real nuisance. I hope you get things resolved quickly. Ash the weather seems to have been quite extreme further south from me yesterday. Enjoy your outing today. Madeleine I was really sorry to hear yesterday that you had lost your friend. I know how that is.
Yesterday I nipped to the retail park for picture frames. I was heading out of Halfords (new window wipers) when the phone rang. It was dd wondering where I was as she had parked up at my house. I headed home while she went to Aldi and then she came in with dgs2 for a cuppa and a piece of lemon drizzle cake. We've made tentative plans to go for a walk on Sunday as sil is working and she likes the company. I framed and hung three pastels of varying sizes. Then pottered about for the rest of the day.
Today I have an all day art workshop on figure drawing. I'm looking forward to it. Salmon fillet with salad for dinner later. Have a good day all

Whitewavemark2 Sat 01-Apr-23 07:40:17

Good morning from a very wet, but not so windy South Downs . Another day of staying in looking at the gloom. Apart from dog walks of course🙂.

Birds carry on as usual - in fact I think the wet is helping the food search as it brings up the worms for the birds to find easily. Not sure about the wood peckers though, they are still busy tapping away. I shall take out some more nuts for the squirrels today, as their acorn stashes will soon be exhausted I think.

Vegetarian tonight - aubergine Parmigiana I think - although there are courgettes spare?

The dog is still snoring, he is late today.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 01-Apr-23 07:42:24

Good morning all from cloudy Harrogate with a suggestion of sunshine
That’s a ridiculous idea GrandMattie waiting til the last moment before your interview. Maybe you should interview the warden? Zooming is a good compromise anyway.
Ladyleftfieldlover you sound like you are having a super holiday.
Abitbarmy hope your test is negative.
No idea what’s happening here.
Have the best day possible folks

ShazzaKanazza Sat 01-Apr-23 07:44:32

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a damp Hull.

Wait until the warden meets you grandMattie he’s in for a treat. He’ll soon realise how capable you are and especially when you produce a coffee and walnut cake.

We are heading up to the Pickering area today for a couple of nights to a B&B and eating a special meal tonight. It was my gift to my DH for Christmas it’s what I usually do for him rather than a physical gift so we will enjoy a couple of days touring round the area. I fancy a look to Helmsley today which could be our lunch stop.

Have a lovely Saturday if you can and enjoy the company of friends and family. Thoughts to those who aren’t feeling well 🌻🌻

brook2704 Sat 01-Apr-23 07:59:30

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s bright and dry with a mix of blue sky and grey clouds.
I managed to get out in the garden for a couple of hours yesterday and I felt so much better for it. I think my energy levels after covid are gradually improving although after a couple of hours of doing something I need a sit down. I’ll be doing an online shop today rather than going out and then planning some menus for family staying next week.
What a palaver gMattie!
Enjoy your holiday Shazza sounds lovely
Safe travels to everyone on the move today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Marydoll Sat 01-Apr-23 08:07:35

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 5°C.

GM, surely you should have been informed of the check, prior to buying the property?
So stressful for you to be told at the last minute. However, I can understand the reason for it.

I have to be up and about early today, because I have a Diocesan Safeguarding training course this morning. I was offered an exemption, due to having being unwell, but I really want to keep up to date with all of the recent Disclosure Scotland changes.
An old school friend will be there, her sister, whose husband is a friend of mine, is dying, so I want to see her.

Unfortunately Babydoll, is not for turning! He /he is now lying transverse. I was so anxious, as DIL's appointment was at 9am, but I heard nothing all day, until 7pm.
The nurses said they had never seen such a chilled baby, its heartbeat hardly changed during the procedure.
It turned out that there were lots of emergencies, including one poor woman, who had been rushed down from Oban, consequently DIL was at the end of the queue.
Not a journey I would like to endure, while in labour.

Yesterday's visit to Silverburn turned out to be very interesting.
I felt myself being grabbed in M&S food Hall and enfolded in a big hug. It was DD's friend of 35 years. He and she teamed up at nursery and everyone thought they would eventually marry. He is a lovely young man, whom I am very fond of.
Then I met a lady from church, who was recently diagnosed with cancer, only when her daughter's friend noticed a bleeding melanoma, which she had ignored.
Unfortunately the cancer has spread. It was good to catch up with her, despite her sad news.

It went downhill after that. I had a "random" trolley search in both M&S and Tesco! 😱
It also happened to me on Tuesday in Sainsbury's. I am anxious enough, when out, without this.
I have come to the conclusion that I am on a Most Wanted list somewhere!
I only managed those two shops, but was away so long that DH had finished his round of golf and was concerned at my lengthy absence, I have become like a rusty machine, so slow.

LFL, as a student, I travelled through Germany by train, with the railway following the River Danube, the views were stunning. Enjoy your cruise.

I wish you all the best of days and special thoughts for the poorlies and those with worries.

Grandmabatty Sat 01-Apr-23 08:13:21

Marydoll I laughed at you being on a Most Wanted list. We used to say my dad was on one too. He was a JP, an elder in the Kirk and was always picked for random checks.

kittylester Sat 01-Apr-23 08:21:32

Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

Not much happening here. Hot dogs for DH and DS1 before they go to the football (apparently it's a 6 pointer confused) and then a catch up with Doctors and the papers.

EkwaNimitee Sat 01-Apr-23 08:32:13

Good morning Mick and everyone from blue-skied sunny Carlisle.
Yesterday, I took the early train to Newcastle for an appointment with a women's health physio. Lots of useful advice and an examination where my prolapse was pronounced mild. It has certainly improved somewhat after months of exercises. I am to return in a few weeks after following said advice etc.
I didn't want to drive through Newcastle as I haven't done so for years. I think I will prefer to go by train again, the old square-wheeled rolling stock has thankfully been replaced so I was able to enjoy the beautiful scenery without feeling ill. I also got to enjoy the conversation of my chatty taxi driver and a fellow train passenger.

Today, instead of nipping out in the car, I'm going to walk across the park to the nearest convenience store and investigate their stock. Normally I know what I want will only be got in the likes of Sainsbury's. I'm hoping they will have the papers, if not, I shall just have to do without them.
grandMattie, that's all a bit late in the day! Surely something to have had done at the beginning of the buying process. I certainly hope it's not necessary for you to trek across to Bristol.
Fingers crossed for your DiL Marydoll. My first was a transverse, not the best experience...

I hope you all have the best possible weekend.

GrannySomerset Sat 01-Apr-23 08:35:59

Despite the flood warnings the river has not overflowed and we have been spared. After a couple of days not leaving the house a walk to the village seems seriously desirable.

Sorry life is needlessly complicated, gMattie, surely you can do a Zoom interview? Hope Marydoll manages a more restful after yesterday’s excitement and that everyone’s plans work out.

Grammaretto Sat 01-Apr-23 08:39:23

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
DS &DGD are on their way to stay for a brief visit. He's hired a van to collect furniture and effects from his DGM house, and mine
I have a lot of red things in the fridge so may make borsht.
A 🍰 in the oven for the Saturday café.

Oh dear gMattie How very dare they!!
Bureaucracy is the enemy of creativity and of motivation.

LLFO my district is twinned with eztergom komaron. It looks lovely. I have hosted artists and musicians over the years from there.

Hoping everyone finds some joy this weekend.

Greyduster Sat 01-Apr-23 08:40:13

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It is at least dry in South Yorkshire if not sunny, and I slept from ten thirty until eight this morning which is a welcome departure from the recent norm. Yesterday was stressful but worked out well after a visit to the bank in the end (I hope!). I was so tired when I got home I fell asleep on the sofa! A day of not doing much today. I have some alpines to plant on the rockery wall, cuttings to take, and if it stays dry I’ll do a bit of work on the front garden.
Karmalady I love fossils too. I have small pebbles I picked up on holiday last year that contain fossilised corals. They’re actually quite pretty when you look at them through a glass.
Have the best day you can folks.

Jaxjacky Sat 01-Apr-23 08:41:21

Morn8ng from a wet S Hants, again. Bit of a last minute curved ball gMattie.
Enjoy your breaks Shazza and llfl. Our granddaughter is now in Europe on her way to Austria.
Permanent 6 pointers in this house kitty (Leeds and Southampton)!,
Enjoy your day 🦩🦩
