No, but if I didn’t have anybody to buy me presents for Christmas then I surely would do ( and they would be just what I wanted,) ?

Yes I do.
Last year it was a handbag, the year before an i-Pad, I haven't decided on this year's treat but I had a big birthday recently and bought myself several so I am stuck for ideas.

We are mainly adults (debatable with some but age says it is true) so tend to ask what others want and sometimes send money. I think that is close to buying your own.

I always have a wish list of books and if there are no takers for a particular one (usually the most expensive) I jolly well buy it for myself.

Before my DH died he told me I was to buy myself Christmas and birthday presents from him. I do and even wrap them. As I have no family and friends don't give presents it is sometimes the only gift I have on Christmas Day.

That was for the birthday before last Nana ,last Christmas it was a red Radley.

Yes I do sometimes... I did every year after I got divorced and while I was still single , but not so much since I got remarried, but when I do, it's usually something like a few books from amazon, or something that might seem frivolous to my o/h..

Gosh no! If I see something I want or need I just get it irrespective of time of year. Luckily I don't seem to want much these days. Books don't count of course. Reading is oxygen to me so books are a necessity not a treat.

I’m fortunate to be given Christmas presents from family and friends but I always buy myself the Boots No7 gift box which they advertise round the beginning of December.

I always buy myself a Christmas gift, also a birthday gift. I have never felt guilty. I lost my Mum this year and my sister and I have been left a sizeable inheritance, not yet decided what Mum will buy for me this year. We spend so much time looking for the perfect gifts, for DC, DIL'S, SIL's, DGC etc, I actually enjoy finding the 'perfect gift' for me.

My birthday's on Sunday and I haven't thought what to buy for myself. Is a pedicure a luxury or a necessity? I don't want any more 'stuff'.

A pedicure is a lovely birthday present - because it's your birthday.

DH and I usually get ourselves something together for Christmas!! This year it's a new sofa... which we've never had before.

I'm a giver so not always comfortable with receiving gifts (no idea why!) but I do love finding that "special" present for others!

Like you sunseeker, my hubby died not long ago (and was ill for many years before). He used to love buying me presents and it was one of the things he missed doing after he was ill. So every year, he would ask me what I wanted for Christmas and we would look together on line and would order it. Last year he was too ill to wrap it, so I did. He died a couple of weeks after. I will buy myself something from him this year again....Oh God here I go again! Hadn't cried for ages! {sad}

Nope, never feel the need. Fact is if I want something I get it. Now that should not be interpreted as self indulgent. I do not have Rolls Royce tastes (designer bags make my mind boggle, for example) and my needs (and wants) are thankfully few. I'm more people oriented than things so if I can see family or friends and meet my bills that'll do me nicely, thank you
