Christmas online deliveries

I don’t know about others but I find that online orders don’t always reduce Christmas stress!
This year due to ill health I have had to rely more on making online purchases for Christmas gifts and thought it would make things easier. BUT the seller companies seem to over shoot their delivery dates, meaning numerous chasing emails, or the courier companies take stupid long time to deliver! Can anyone explain how a warehouse receives an order on the 7th but it takes 7 working days to deliver it!! It would be quicker to send by carrier pigeon??‍♀️
Also the having to produce ID if you want to go and collect the missed delivery is a pain, because I am staying with my DD1 and the delivery address is not my home address! so that when they ask for a utility bill in the delivery address I can’t oblige!?
The whole thing is driving me nuts! First world problem I know, but I needed a little rant?

I hate that phrase, First World Problem. I bet someone in poverty waiting for someone to bring them something from the nearest town, who is delayed, would get just as worked up as you, jenpax, probably more so.

Everybody has problems, no one is exempt from them and they vary according to income family circumstances and culture.

No I see that but I realise that compared to some of the problems we see this is relatively minor

But minor problems are sometimes more irritating than larger ones.

jenpax I try and do the click and collect so if I am not going to be at home at least the click and collect place will keep the parcel for 7 days and I can pick up at my leisure. Not everything can be collected but that is my first choice.

I shan't bore you with details but I've spent quite a lot of time this week coping with a delivery with an item missing and a completely different item in the box. From JL, no less!
TBH my life would have been simpler had I 'overlooked' the additional item.

I am awaiting the delivery of a mystery package which the card from the PO informs me did not have on it the correct postage. I’ve paid £1.50 online and suspect the item is going to be a Christmas card too thick for second class postage.

I've done a bit of online shopping this year, and have been pleased with the speedy deliveries, so far. tchsmile
