I just answered the door to somebody who handed me a leaflet to tell me to keep 2 metres away from people.

I told him don’t bother going to any other houses in this street they are all holiday lets. He insisted he had been told to push through EVERY door in case they came.

I started screaming at him
“They can’t its not allowed, and you shouldn’t be out either”

He ran off. Bet he’s telling everybody don’t go near that woman at 34 she’s still in her dressing gown at 1 pm with wild hair and eyes shouting obscenities at everybody.

But I doubt if he will come round here again either.

laughterlines did you get out of bed on the wrong side today?
If he is being paid by the authorities to push leaflets through doors then of course the poor chap has to do it.
And he’s quite right, the people in the holiday homes might turn up, being told to stay indoors is being ignored as we all know.

Poor chap, I think you owe him an apology, his job is hard enough, he is out risking getting the disease to try to keep people safe.
Did he knock your door? Which isn’t the right thing to do, or did you fling the door open as he tried to get the leaflet through the letter box?

Some of the nutters are still inside!!?

Smileless2012 Thu 26-Mar-20 13:25:53

Why didn't he just post it through your letter box? What an idiot; I hope you did have "wild hair and eyes" and frightened him into going home where as you told him, he should be.

Yes indeed, why was he be doing that? Surely we all get our advice and updates from the 5pm daily statement.

Laughterlines don’t worry, I’m still in my dressing gown, but I am just about to get dressed. Lazy eh? grin

My friend was at the checkout queue in a supermarket while putting her shopping on the checkout belt the chap behind her moved in and started loading his shopping up right behind her ignoring the two meter guidance laid out on the floor . On pointing this out to him he replied ...it’s fine I work for the NHS I’m exposed to it anyway!!! What.. Just What! ....My friend was so astonished and afraid she did not reply but left as soon as humanly possible. She won’t be back to that supermarket.
How utterly thoughtless !

A Housing Association today took out an injunction against a tenant who held a party with up to about 20 friends in his flat. He ignored all complaints from his neighbours. www.insidehousing.co.uk/news/news/housing-association-tenant-served-with-coronavirus-injunction-after-throwing-20-person-house-party-65868

Good on the Housing Association.
What was that guy leafletting thinking? Putting them through the letterbox is one thing but knocking? Making people come to answer their doors is stupidity indeed.
The NHS worker, if he actually was, really should've known better, sounds like a complete idiot!!
I've been lucky so far, there was only one incident where 2 girls (late teens) paid no need to social distancing in the supermarket, I was quick enough to turn my body away and face a shelf.
I have on the other hand seen some irresponsible antics on the road. There were a group of bikers riding at full throttle who left the road crossed over onto the pavement and rode over and through the links. Moments later another biker sped up the same road pulling wheelies along the way. Prize idiots the lot.

Should read heed not need

I think you're right to be critical of him knocking on your door and trying to hand you the leaflet but I don't think it's right to "scream" at anyone; especially someone who's just doing their job, however badly advised they've been. I doubt you being in your dressing gown and looking dishevelled was the reason he ran off. Take a chill pill.

Laughterlines I wonder if he was who he said he was?

Was he checking to see who was at home and whether or not they were occupied at all?
I am of suspicious mind but perhaps he won't be back if the mad woman at No 34 frightened him silly!!

There are indeed some nutters out there and not all are individuals some are corporate, collective nutters. Got an email from my health club/gym this morning, closed of course in line with government legislation. "Dear Terribull, congratulations you have been given two guest passes, they must be used in the next month" Gee thanks D***d L***d...…….for nothing! hmm
