Stay at home ends Stay safe begins

Beginning today, it all gets kind of crazy- We move from Stay at home into the Stay Safe phase, to relying upon each other to follow the suggested safety guidelines-

Not all businesses are open- Far from it- But people are now free to come and go- I drove from parking lot to parking lot- Maybe 1/2 of the people were wearing a face covering or a mask-

I'm being told that people are being belligerent, refusing to follow the 6ft distancing guidelines-

People continue to be diagnosed daily- The numbers represent a rolling plateau- But no evidence of a decline-

The decision to open was based on economics-

You're not in UK I assume?

No Rose is from the US. We haven’t watched the updates recently and I thought for a moment I had missed something important.

Just keep drinking the vinegar Rose and all will be well.

Should she not be trying some of their delightful President's suggestions? wink

So sad!

There was an uptick in calls to poison control for disinfectant exposure-

*rosecarmel, is it really safe enough to do it in your state? Most places in the US seem to still be rising?

Is this protester driven?

rosecarmel Fri 01-May-20 23:12:24

I don't think it's safe at all, Starblaze-

Starblaze Fri 01-May-20 23:13:14

No, but you keep you safe ok

Stay safe rosecarmel follow your own rules and gut instincts.

Thank you, May7- My gut says it's weeks too early- Dr Fauci called it leapfrogging, jumping over 1 guideline to get to the next, instead of waiting for numbers to decline- I have to agree-

Starblaze, I somehow missed the protester question- Yes, I do think some governors caved, and wound up choosing to please or pacify instead of protect-

Rose I’ve just read that Dr Fauci has been banned from speaking at a Congressional hearing....... I fear for the USA and for all of us sad

It sounds good having a move towards normality but it can only be achieved carefully. I am glad our government is so cautious. Take care Rose.

I hope there won't be pressure put on DS1 to return to his work in central Sacramento. He is currently safely working from home in rural California, well away from the city.

rosecarmel Sat 02-May-20 22:39:46

rubysong, some rural California counties are defying governor Newsom's orders, Modoc, Sutter and Yuba- If your son is working from home, he is safe-

Here's 33 seconds of the belligerent in your face ignorance that's occurring .. the video is from Ohio:

[rosecarme] virtue signalling face mask that wasn’t even covering her nose

A significant minority of people around here aren’t bothering to distance themselves anyway. Twice yesterday when I was walking to the nearest small supermarket, there were people still walking down the middle of a very wide pavement, when I was right at the inside edge. In particular there was a middle- aged couple walking alongside each other, taking up much of the centre space - no attempt to move at all.
I do think it’s sometimes deliberate - ‘We think it’s all nonsense and are NOT going to do it!’ - why else would they not bother?

Rosecarmel, do what is right for you to keep both yourself and your family safe. When/if Lockdown is eased here. I won't be rushing out to go anywhere. I will also be wearing a mask on public transport and going shopping. Stuff what anyone else thinks. I will do what keeps me safe and reassures me, other people have to do what they think is right for them. As it is our government has recommended face coverings (not the medical type) for public transport and crowded/confined spaces. Good luck and stay safe and well.
