As some of you may know, DS1 is disabled and lives, with his cat, in an adapted flat in our small town.

Today he got a photo of his cat posted through his door by someone asking if the cat was his as they knew the owner was disabled and wondered if he needed any help with the cat or anything else.

And, DGD2 Eloise is 9 today and not able to have a party etc. When she opened her curtains this morning she was met by this in the window of the house opposite.

That is lovely kitty and as you say, people are very kind in general.
There’s a lot more good in people, than bad and that’s for sure.

SalsaQueen Sun 17-May-20 18:18:31

That's very kind. Thankfully, there are some good people about.

EllanVannin Sun 17-May-20 19:39:42

That's a lovely thought.

I must say that I haven't met with any hostilities or anything unkind, on the contrary I've had shopping done for me today with a good stock of cat food into the bargain.

What an uplifting thread, Kitty. smile

That is lovely Kitty
Eldest DGS was 10 last Tuesday and his friends all contributed a piece of bunting with a message or picture on it for his birthday bunting.
He had a Zoom “party” with his friends and a sleep out in the garden with his Daddy and younger brother and sister - and pronounced it “the best birthday ever” !

On my birthday on Thursday after clapping for the NHS, my neighbours all started singing, Happy Birthday to me. It was the perfect end to a strangely perfect day! smile

How lovely for the birthday dudes. Well done, kind people!

Whitewavemark2 Sun 17-May-20 20:12:58

What a thoughtful gesture. It doesn’t take a lot to give someone cheer does it?

sodapop Sun 17-May-20 20:18:55

Good to hear there are caring people out there.

BarbRoyle Sun 17-May-20 20:34:38

People are generally inherently kind
It's heartwarming, isn't it?

Grannybags Sun 17-May-20 20:49:43

Lovely stories. People can be so nice ?

Warms the cockles.

My DGS had his 5th birthday last week. Prior to that I had been sending recordings of me reading Peter Pan, which he loves. He woke on his birthday to find a Peter Pan outfit at the bottom of his bed, his Mum dressed as Wendy, his big sister as Tinkerbell, and Dad as Captain Hook, complete with hook on his hand - made from a flower pot and the top of a coat hanger! There was a treasure map, which was authentically old-looking, on his bed and his sister helped him to follow it to the shed, where a chest contained his presents. They stayed in theme all day and he had a zoom Peter Pan party. I was so impressed with the ingenuity that went into it all.

That’s lovely Kittylester . I hope she had a lovely day.

In our village a gentleman is going to be 90 tomorrow. Without him knowing , at 6pm his wife is somehow going to get him to the front garden and the villagers are going to be there to sing him Happy Birthday, arranged on the local FB page by his neighbour.

That’s so lovely Luckygirl.

this is the kind of thing that children really appreciate, the thoughtfulness and kindness of it all, and not just children.
so many of us have got caught up over the years in materialistic extravagance, hiring halls, entertainers, fancy presents etc.
we have been kind of seduced by advertisers and the idea that more stuff, and more expense equals depth of love. No.
it's loving attention, that's all we need.

That is lovely kitty.

My DGD was 5 last week and with the help of FaceTime and well thought out games she had the best birthday ever.

The Peter pan story brought back memories of a child my Mum once nursed in our local childrens hospital. After a Birthday visit to see the Peter Pan pantomime t our local playhouse, the young girl decided to try flying just like Peter did, and jumped outof her bedroom window, crashing through the glass conservatory roof below. She was seriously injured, and spent nearly a year in hospital, where she decided she wanted to become a nurse herself.
I later came across her again when I was doing my own nurse training, she was the ward sister on the ward that I was seconded to. One day, just before I moved on, I suprised her with a photograph of her, my mum, and a nursing assistant, taken when she was Eleven, and celebrating her birthday in hospital! She had no idea where it had come from, until the day I left the ward, and said, 'Have fun Peter Pan'!

Kittylester yes I agree, there are a lot of hugely kind people about.

When my grandson had his second birthday recently there was a ring at the doorbell and two of my daughter's friends were at the door with a home-made six feet long birthday banner between them, a bubble machine, amazing gifts and cakes for the birthday boy - and singing to a music machine they'd brought.

Our local Lidl staff have been amazing and one checkout operator in particular has been exceptionally thoughtful. I thanked her on FB for the way she'd made my husband's day with her kindliness and the post attracted the loveliest expressions of thanks from dozens of others around the town. We have two town FB groups and both are very good, but one of them is much more positive than the other and I love to read the stories that people have posted about the way they've been helped, often by complete strangers.

some of you may know the terrible time my sons family are having. Last week he heard a small knock on his door by the time he got to the door whoever knocked had gone. On the doorstep were three bags of shopping. What really touched him wasn’t the necessities although really grateful for them was a couple of bottles of beer for him and sweets for the children. When I asked “oh lovely what did you do”He answered “I drank the beer and the children had the sweets!” has no ideas who left it but he was so grateful and touched that who ever it was had not only thought of his terminally ill wife but of him and the three children. It’s heartwarming to know most people are kind.
