US President Donald Trump has said he's taking an anti-malarial drug as a preventative measure against Covid-19, although scientists have warned about side effects.
The World Health Organization has said it's concerned by reports of individuals self-medicating and causing themselves serious harm.
But apparently he has been self dosing with Hydroxyquinonine for the last week and a half.
Hmm
It has no proven protective qualities against Covid 19.
It can in fact cause heart arrhythmia even death.
Even his tame news puppy Fox News have warned vehemently against following his example
As I said - don’t try this at home folks!

I have just hear this on the news and couldn’t stop my jaw from dropping! He really is a liability to others now?

AGAA4 Tue 19-May-20 17:12:17

The man is dangerous!

Marydoll Tue 19-May-20 17:17:08

I was on this for a very long time for RA. It wasn't until I ended up in Coronary Care with an undiagnosed heart condition, it was immediately stopped by the cardiologist.
I knew nothing about it being dangerous for people with heart conditions ?. Changed my life for ever. sad
I was a very lucky lady, as it was an allergic reaction to another RA drug that put me in A&E and blood tests revealed the heart condition.
What a stupid and dangerous man!

Hydroxyquinonine is dangerous you say? Can we have a whip round to get him a good supply?

GillT57 Tue 19-May-20 17:39:58

I keep hoping that quinine will be found to have healing properties for covid19, then I can have a nice medicinal gin and tonic.

MiniMoon Tue 19-May-20 17:52:26

Not just dangerous AGAA4, hes a complete orange fool!

cupaffull Tue 19-May-20 18:03:32

Hydroxychloroquine not .....

Hydroxyquinoline is used to lubricate and deodorize the vagina, and to prevent the growth of bacteria. Hydroxyquinoline is often used in women who wear a vaginal pessary ....blush

EllanVannin Tue 19-May-20 18:07:42

He should take plenty of it grin

Hithere Tue 19-May-20 18:08:26

He may be not taking it, he says he is taking it - two very different things.

I dont trust a word coming out of that.... vio

MawB Tue 19-May-20 18:14:39

Hydroxychloroquine
Oops!
Sorry -maybe he is taking the other one as well!

Bellasnana Tue 19-May-20 18:24:01

He’s as mad as a box of frogs. How he still has so many supporters is a mystery to me.?

Kalu Tue 19-May-20 18:26:51

Trump’s Medical Advisor has now issued a letter stating the benefits of Hydroxychloroquine outweigh the risks!

Septimia Tue 19-May-20 18:32:22

Maybe Trump's medical advisor did discuss the use of Hydroxychloroquine with him but had to give up and let him take it because he couldn't get through to the dim know-it-all just how dangerous it is.

Kalu Tue 19-May-20 18:47:49

My thoughts are his medical advisor was ordered to sign this letter, whoever the author was and with his track record, Trump made him an offer he couldn’t refuse!

Blinko Tue 19-May-20 18:52:17

The Orange One - he who must be obeyed.

MadCatWoman1 Tue 19-May-20 18:53:56

Donald Trump doesn't seem to think before he speaks. If he wants to take a drug that's not going to do him any good and may well cause him some damage, it's up to him, but what why did he feel the need to tell anyone? The man is a buffoon.

BlueBelle Tue 19-May-20 18:58:57

I doubt he’s taking it just promoting it so it will up the sales I mean he’s never been caught out in a lie has he ? Total arxx

arosebyanyothername Tue 19-May-20 19:03:44

Apparently there were lots of people hospitalised in the US for ingesting disinfectant.
Lord knows what’s will happen this time. Shortage of medication for those that rely on it for sure!
Trump is a total liability!

MayBee70 Tue 19-May-20 22:14:26

Saw him on the news talking about I. He can’t even pronounce it.

annodomini Tue 19-May-20 22:29:50

Apparently he has a financial interest in the company that's promoting it.

annodomini Tue 19-May-20 23:07:34

According to today's Guardian
"Ministers are seeking 16m tablets in packets of up to 100 as part of a £35m contract put out to tender on Friday.

"The drug is being tested by government scientists, health officials said. They are securing additional supplies so it can be distributed among the population if required."

They say it won't be wasted because even if it turns out to be useless against Covid19, it is already used in the treatment of a number of other conditions.

callgirl1 Tue 19-May-20 23:16:38

My daughter takes it, one of several drugs for her rheumatoid arthritis, she was put on it a few months ago.

MayBee70 Wed 20-May-20 00:13:09

It seems that some of the side effects are hair loss and mental confusion. The latter being a bit of a worry when we’re talking about the President of America.

Curlywhirly Wed 20-May-20 07:05:58

Well, if he's not concerned about it affecting his heart, he'll certainly be concerned if he starts losing his hair!
