I went with a friend to see her husband in his care home recently. The experience was heart breaking. She could only speak by shouting through a half open window. The 'unintended consequences' of Coronavirus restrictions need to be considered. Anguish and mental health not just illness and physical health.
What are the experiences of others?

Oh, that's blòody awful.
Your poor, poor mum.

I have tended to just think about my particular circumstances, but now I've read this thread I can't stop thinking about these poor souls.

Have you had any response to your communications, teacherAnne?

Not really, auto response from BJ and MH acknowledging get response, party political critique from mums labour MP and nothing from my Tory MP.

Pretty poor really?

I really really REALLY hope this thread gets lifted by the press.

Yes, it's a pretty poor response. I've never understood the point of getting angry at something we can do nothing about, but someone needs to do something.

My Mom is 98 and moved into a care home a year ago as she is almost blind. I visited at least twice a week but visiting stopped in March. I was given a weekly slot to see Mom, I went once and they stopped it again, she was so disappointed. Apart from going every week and leaving a bag of goodies for her and being able to ring her every day (I had a phone installed in her room) I have no other contact with her. It is a small privately run home and they are keeping everyone safe. But I think I am safer going in than the carers are because I do not go anywhere nor do I see my family and friends as my husband is one of the extremely clinically vulnerable. I take no chances. Some of he carers have been having family parties at their homes, especially the weekend before more restrictions started. I know Mom is being looked after but she is suffering from anxiety. The choice between physical health and mental health is a very fine balance.
