Getting the second dose

I had the vaccine a week or two early for my age group as I took my disabled husband and they had a spare. However he has now had an appointment booked via the GP but nothing for me. When I have phoned they just say that I'm not on the list. They also said to phone 119, but they only deal with AstraZenica. Any ideas as to how I get on the list?

Did you have your first dose at the GP or a centre? I was advised to phone my local health board so you could try that.

AGAA4 -I had it done at a centre. Did you have to fight to get a date for the second jab?

AGAA4 Thu 15-Apr-21 16:27:15

This was for my son who hadn't had his first dose even though he should have done. He got an appointment easily when he phoned the health board. If you had the Pfizer vaccine they will want you to have the second dose earlier than those who had AZ I think. Good luck!

Your invite from the same centre you had your first should come automatically about a week before it’s due, if you weren’t given a follow up appointment. That system worked perfectly for my mum. If you don’t receive an invite by a week before it’s due, you need to contact the centre again, there won’t be any problem because they will have you recorded on their system.

That's the problem, I didn't get an invite for the first jab. My husband did and its from the GP but done at a hub. We are bot now due to book the second. I have contacted the health board. They have given me an email address for people who think they have been missed. Reading it I think that is for staff, and should probably have come from my GP Surgery. Will have to wait and see. Thanks for the replies.

The Centre will have recorded your jab though, whether you had an appointment or not, so you will be on the system. Is it still more than a week until your 12 weeks is up?

I volunteered and got a Pfizer in January without an appointment, a case of being there at the right time, the vaccination centre then sent me a text to book my second, the system does work - eventually. Hopefully it will for you too.

Daisymae Thu 15-Apr-21 17:24:58

Its 10 days until the 12 weeks which is why my husband has had the text. Don't think that there's anything more I can do. I think that the GP will need to action, but they are reluctant. I think that its obvious that something has gone amiss as my husband has had the text!

Go onto the Coronavirus bit of the www.nhs.uk website and book it. It will know you have had one, and just offer you a second. You may have to travel a bit, but worth it to get it done. My local Vaccination Centre has run out, no further bookings until they can find another supply.

You can't book a date through the NHS site if the first vaccination was generated by the doctor's surgery. Or at least, I can't. I'm coming to the end of week 9. Fingers crossed.

Daisymae Thu 15-Apr-21 18:59:17

No, can't book online through that method either. Have to have the text from the surgery then follow the link. The computer say NO!

I live human in Scotland. I had my first vaccination at my local HC as I got a phone call from the nurse to say she had an extra one ate the end of the day. As I had a date for the vaccination centre I phoned and explained that to be them it didn't mean I was removed from the list. I had my second one at the vaccination centre last week.

I contacted my MP when I hadn't heard & he was helpful or rather his staff were, they help with public service things. I might have to do so again cos I have an appt for my 2nd jab & it says a pharmacy 'in Wiltshire' Wiltshire is a big place, my 1st jab was done in Gloucester & I live in Cirencester, my husband got his 1st at the local pharmacy, some people from gloucester had to go to malvern! It doesn't make sense!

Aepgirl Fri 16-Apr-21 11:10:29

When they say ‘you’re not on the list’ do they mean that you’re not yet due for your 2nd jab?

hilz Fri 16-Apr-21 11:19:42

I had mine about 10 weeks ago at a vaccination centre and have had an autogenerated text inviting me to book my second jab from next week onwards. If your centre is local maybe you could mask up take your vaccination card and ask them what you should do to ensure you get it.

I also had trouble getting the 2nd Pfizer vaccine because we’ve moved 5 hours away from the centre and new Doctors had no record of us having had the first one in. We were told we had to go back to Devon to have jab, we now live in Sussex. I phoned up telephone numbers I was given, even emailed MP’s which bounced back or were barely acknowledged so in the end I phoned our new Doctors and asked who was practice Manager or head Doctor, the receptionist seemed to take more notice this time as I was adamant we were to have 2nd vaccine regardless of whether they had a record of it or not as it’s what the government want and said they must sort it out. Straight away she realised I meant business this time and told me she would get in touch with ‘THEIR’ COVID hub and amazingly we got the 2 appointments through within 24 hours. My husbands just had his this morning, mines due in May. My advice phone your Doctor, be insistent and tell them to get in touch with the main COVID vaccine centre that only they can access, it’s really not good enough.

Go on NHS website and book it. If you can’t for some reason, get on to your GP and ask to speak to someone in authority. The hub where you had your jab will have a record of it, so your GP will be able to access it. Did they not give you a card when you had the first one ? Mine was booked automatically and they gave me the date and time at the hub, at the time of the first jab.

Whatdayisit Fri 16-Apr-21 12:00:28

I would Do as you did last time and go with your husband and take your card.

Whatdayisit Fri 16-Apr-21 12:02:27

We got our 2nd appt at the first but oh had a call to go earlier but i didn't get a message. Iwent with oh and was on the list anyway. You probably will be when you get there. Taking your card helps.

We had the Pfixer one 11 weeks ago and are getting the 2nd done tomorrow. We were not given the 2nd date at the time of the 1st.

It seems to vary across the country and between surgeries how the appointments are allocated.

On both occasions we had texts from the surgery with a link to choose the date and time. We are going to the local treatment centre. We are a year apart in age. The texts came through at the same time on our mobiles.

It sounds like your surgery provided the list. I'd ring them in your instance, even though it is recommended not to ring doctors.

Good luck.

Had the Pfizer jab in January and the 2nd jab was booked while I was there - 12 weeks after. Now had both jabs

Craftycat Fri 16-Apr-21 12:52:27

I just had an email telling me that I am due my 2nd jab next Friday at the same centre I had the first. I think they have managed it all very well, indeed.

Daisymae Fri 16-Apr-21 13:06:53

Thanks for the responses. I contacted the health authority as an earlier response suggested. They gave me an email address and they responded immediately. I have had a text today. I think that the GP surgery should have got in touch with the health authority, but anyway it's sorted now. I don't feel that it would have happened without some assistance.

Caro57 Fri 16-Apr-21 14:56:02

If it was done at GP surgery contact them or ring 119
