Hancock having affair during lockdown unbelievable!

The Sun (apologies, but they got the scoop) has published a picture od Matt Hancock in a steamy embrace with a woman he sneaked into a job at DHSC last November, the story is that they have been carrying on an affair in the office since then. The hypocrisy of him calling for Neil Ferguson spelling amended by GNHQ at OP's request to be sacked for his lockdown breaking affair cannot be overestimated.

I agree with the other posters that say he has been set up. It's a way of getting rid of him. However that doesn't excuse him.

I do hope he kept to the social distancing rules when shagging.

No, it doesn't excuse him at all.

Giving lucrative contracts to his mates, who were so hopeless at providing PPE that thousands of people died, not stopping the release of elderly people from hospital into care homes, lying about the 'protective ring' around those care homes, the list of things he's done that can never be excused goes on and on.

In other circumstances I would argue that people's private lives should be kept private, but in this case (as with the Jennifer Arcuri case) we need to know how the recruitment process was scrutinised when the woman was appointed, who else applied with equal qualifications, how much was her salary etc. It's a matter of public interest as she was paid out of the public purse.

I think it is also important to know whether he broke Covid rules to visit her, whilst telling the rest of us that we couldn't see our friends and family.

It was also incredibly hypocritical of him to approve the resignation of Neil Ferguson in vey similar circumstances.

Surely he has to go?

(I don't think that the woman set him up. I think it is very possible that the government has let this story break now as they want rid of him but it would be embarrassing to admit publicly that he was as hopeless as Johnson was calling him privately.)

Some amusing comments on Twitter. Hands-Face-Arse being one memorable slogan under Hancock’s face.

He really is the last person I would have expected to be having a steamy affair.

Yes, he has, allegedly, behaved in a hypocritical way and questions now need to be answered.

If he does do the decent thing now, he will resign.

I didn't know the woman is question is married as well. The implosion for the families concerned must be dreadful, assuming that as old university chums they know each others' families. I agree that there is a stench of nasty tricks going on here, but the fault lies with him for leaving himself open to public exposure. I have to admit I am looking forward to the next Private Eye front cover grin.

Can he really survive this one? How are they going to brush this level of hypocrisy under the carpet?

Of course he'll survive. His boss did it and is still PM. Cummings was golden balls, even after breaking all lockdown rules, until he messed with the bosses g/f.

The cons are a snake pit. None is better than any of the others. They don't care.

The difference is the Conservatives need him as their scapegoat. When he goes they think that their mishandling of the pandemic will be forgotten and he will take all of the blame. The Sun wouldn’t headline this if it wasn’t true: they’ve obviously been given this information by someone in government. How ironic that Johnson may have to sack him for doing something that he has done throughout his life when I would imagine it’s the only time Hancock ever has.

The heading says 'unbelievable'. Really? I can believe almost anything about that shower that call themselves a Cabinet. Politicians have a poor record on fidelity cf. Edwina and John Major!

Her husband is behind Oliver Bonas the fabulous jewellery, fashion & homeware company.

?fabulous is over-egging the pudding. Leave that out and yes it is a bog-standard company.

It’s all a matter of preference and taste Whitewavemark2 , I am not ready for twin-sets and old fashioned accessories yet, maybe I will be one day and no doubt my AC will inform me!

Well even if Boris doesn't sack him, his wife no doubt will.
Horrible for both families involved.

the elephant in the room is Johnson's own lack of morality. The only people I feel sorry for are his wife and children.

I feel sorry for her husband and children as well. Imagine as an attractive, rich, successful man finding out your wife had been cheating with Matt Hancock.

this has really me laugh grin thank you

On a serious note though, don't they have to have security and DB clearance? A member of my family does and they ask some pretty personal questions about your sex life etc so you cannot be bribed and presumably the people doing the in house security has to have them too? I just wondered how all this stuff gets leaked in the first place if proper security measures are in place

JaneJudge Fri 25-Jun-21 10:56:43

Incidentally The Sun has just pulled an article with the headline

Who owns Oliver Bonas and what time does it open?

25Avalon Fri 25-Jun-21 10:57:29

Apparently there is a rigorous appointment procedure so he could not have sneaked her in. Under pressure maybe she offered him comfort he was not getting at home who knows?
However, this is not appropriate behaviour if it takes place in the office interfering with work. It happens often enough though. Someone has obviously get it in for him to sneak out a photo to the Sun. This leaking and sneaking seems to be going on all the time these days.

Haven't read all the comments but am posting because I think you have got the name wrong, B9. The epidemiologist to whom I think you refer is Neil Ferguson.

Niall Ferguson (born 18 April 1964) is a Scottish historian and the Milbank Family Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford.

Perhas ask HQ to correct your post if they can.

timetogo2016 Fri 25-Jun-21 11:00:44

No accounting for taste thats for sure.
I feel for his wife and family and her husband and family too.
Surely he must have known cctv was in operation.
So many hypoctics in this world.
One rule for us, anything goes for those that tell us to wear masks/social distance etc.

????? are you serious.

A matter of taste I guess.

Twinsets aren’t my thing either, but neither is the sort of stuff offered by that company.

I won’t list companies that I buy from, but one of them isn’t this company.

JaneJudge Fri 25-Jun-21 11:01:55

also the Daily Mail have gone for this sub heading

Mr Hancock and Mrs Coladangelo met at Oxford doing student radio and PPE degrees

(yes yes I know what a PPE degree is but I think it is somewhat deliberate)

Baggs Fri 25-Jun-21 11:02:53

B9, I took the liberty of reporting your OP to see if HQ can correct it.

MawBe Fri 25-Jun-21 11:04:46

Alerted by her unusual name I checked also given her age, it seems she was at school with middle D and I must have given her lifts in the (distant) past.
I’m just glad D has better taste in men!

Newatthis Fri 25-Jun-21 11:09:44

sleezeball!

Whitewavemark2 Fri 25-Jun-21 11:15:42

Whilst he was snogging his mistress with his hand on her ass

‘In May 2020, Hancock claimed to have been left “speechless” by Prof Ferguson’s “extraordinary” behaviour, and said it had been right for him to resign as a government Sage adviser.’

TopsyIrene06 Fri 25-Jun-21 11:18:16

GagaJo spot on.

Lillie Fri 25-Jun-21 11:21:05

poor wife and kids

lavenderzen Fri 25-Jun-21 11:25:25

Hancock - good grief who would have thought it - he looks such a wimp.
I suppose its all you can expect from this government. If he goes it will be a miracle.
